  • I worked at a T-shirt store in Scummit Place Mall. I was 16.
  • What was your first  job? (not babysitting, one that gave you a paycheck): I was a cashier in the Meijer cafeteria. A lot of my friends worked there so we had a great time! And I stayed there through my Freshman year in college.

How old were you when you started there? I think 15.

  • What was your first job? (not babysitting, one that gave you a paycheck) I bussed tables at the Farmington Elks Lodge where my mom was a bartender and my sister was a waitress.

How old were you when you started there? 14-15

  • I worked at Kohls when I was 16.  I also had a paper route in middle school, but I didn't get a real paycheck from that

  • I worked at the place my mom worked stocking and filling laminate samples (like countertop samples you see at Lowes).  I started when I was 14 and worked there for about a year.

Then I started working at Hallmark in Lakeside Mall all through high school and on breaks from college until I graduated.  Explains why I have a gazillion christmas ornaments.

  • I worked at Auntie Annes pretzels at Scummit Place mall. I was 15 I think?

My sister was a manager at the ripe age of 17. She used to make me do all the sh!t work because all her friends worked there too. It was fun though, we used to make giant pretzels and have dough fights at the end of the day.

  • I was a bagger at Farmer Jack. I was 14 or maybe 15.

I worked at a pro shop inside a hockey rink selling hockey equipment. I worked there for like 2 years, starting when I was 16.

BEST JOB EVER for a girl in high school, let me tell you! Hot hockey players in a constant flow through the shop....I still miss those days sometimes!! lol

  • I delivered newspapers and started when I was in 5th grade.  I was so diligent, out on my bicycle five days each week after I had to roll them up and rubber band them.

I wasn't allowed to get a job until I was finished with high school... my family couldn't afford college and I needed a scholarship so my parents said school was my job.

My mom told me the same thing!  Although I suspect it was because she wanted me around to watch my younger siblings so she wouldn't have to pay for child care during the summer.

I started working as a full-time nanny for a family the summer after my senior year of high school when I was 18.  My first real pay check came from my work study job at U of M.  I was still 18.  Did office work in the psychology department.

  • Pete & Frank's (they had a location in Sterling Hts when I was a wee young teen): Cashier, age 14 (I think) or it was 15

I worked at Julie's Bridal in downtown Plymouth.  I only worked on Saturdays and basically just assisted the consultants haul dresses around and put them away afterward.  It was a pretty cool job.

I was about 14 I think. That seems like a really young age to me now, but my Dad knew the owners and "got me in".

*Edit* I suppose I could actually count my job delivering papers in the 5th/6th grade.  I was actually pretty bad at in in restrospect, seeing as I'd deliver them really late in the day.  I was also afraid to collect the money from certain people because they were mean, so I basically shorted myself my own wages because I was stupid.
