Re: Monday Randoms
Wow. Even if I had known someone for years I would NEVER say anything like that. How rude!
Well see that's cause you aren't a giant jerkface
She backpedaled and said it was because I was glowing, but still. When will people learn you NEVER ask a woman if she is pregnant?!
OMFG! I am so sorry. People can be so rude.
We just got back from our weekend jaunt to Chicago. I am so wiped out. That was just too much packed into one weekend for this pregnant lady. But I loved getting to see all my family, I just wish we could have stayed longer so it wasn't so rushed. It is harder being closer to 6 hrs way, instead of 3.
Yikes! I will never understand why people think that's even acceptable to hint at. Ugh.
Yesterday when I was awoken from my Mother's Day nap, it was suggested that I could vacuum while DH and DS were playing outside.
I did not.

Wow. What's the rule on that - never assume a woman is pregnant unless you see a baby coming out of her?
Nice! Good for you!
We spent the entire afternoon overhauling our back/side yard to prepare for the veggie garden. DH, DS, and I dug up and hauled about 20 wheelbarrows of dirt. Then I made DH take DS to the grocery store so I could have a hot bath
LOL, yes this.
I need to do this, too. The seeds I planted indoors have sprouted nicely (way better than I imagined, given my black thumb) and I have nowhere to transfer them to in a few weeks! Duh.

A weekend trip to Chicago is exhausting even not pregnant! Glad you had a good time
We are going in July for the DMB Caravan tour, I am so excited! And a whole baby free weekend
What are you all putting in your gardens? We've only ever done herbs but I want to do more now that we have a yard.
We are planning to do tomatoes, zucchini, cucumber, and green and red peppers.
We have a 4x8 garden box that we laid out, but we had to dig about 2 feet of rock and clay out first. DH is going to have a bunch of topsoil delivered to fill it, plus extra for spreading around the yard so we can plant grass. Its looking dead and gross. I cant wait for it to be done, I'll post before and after pics!
Ohhhhh! I am so jealous. I really wanted to go that. But silly baby will be due right around then. Have fun! And you need to tell me all about so I can live it through you!
DH thinks he is going to stand guard with a pellet gun lol. We have an insane amount of chipmmunks, squirrels, and bunnies so we will probably have to rig up some kind of fence.
Good morning, pals!
Steph, that's a bummer about the wildlife halting a garden. Maybe a raised bed with a fence... someday?
Yay for gardening work and happy mamas.
We had a nice day that included Willa and other 3-5 year olds singing in church, bagels at the Calvin Nature Preserve, and a movie in the backyard.
Freeburger, your FB friend sucks. What a rotten thing to say!
Mira, I agree with Freeburger -- any weekend trip to Chicago is exhausting IMO! I can't imagine doing it pregnant.
I started my container garden a week ago. I have it on my deck because I'm quite certain that our soil would never grow anything, and also anything that did grow would be eaten by woodland creatures. I planted leaf lettuce and spinach. In a few weeks I'll add tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, and basil. I'm excited. I hope it does well this summer! Last year's garden had some issues. Two years ago it did great though.
Nice! I wanted to do containers too but DH is anal and insisted we do a huge overhaul for the garden. What kind of beans are you planting?
No idea. I've never grown beans before, but I decided that I wanted to try it this year. I haven't begun researching varieties yet though. I'm open to suggestion.
AW: Here's my little garden from last year! I have to fence it off from my cats (not exactly woodland creatures, but they would still enjoy destroying it, I'm sure.)
I started three kinds of tomatoes from seed, as well as kiwano and kale. I direct-sowed yellow wax beans and green beans, in the spot where the thrived last year.
When the actual garden plot is dug up (anyone want daylilies or spiderwort? I have tons...u-haul-it!) I will direct-sow more kale, beets, turnips, and watermelon.

I am so inspired by all you gardening ladies! I need to set up some sort of fence to keep Henry in the yard and not running down the driveway so i can get crackin'
Kasa - Your kitty totally wants to get at your garden. Ha ha.
GRKaters - Mike would flip if we grew beets. He loves them.
Freeburger - I love before and after pics. Don't forget to post them!
I was going to wait for the weekend to get digging in the garden, but I think this thread has pushed me to get going today. It's a weird year for me in this area. With the house on the market, I can't get too nuts.
I might go nuts at half power instead.
Hopefully that will help draw the right buyer to your place! Someone who would be thrilled to have already-going tomatoes and other goodies to enjoy? A perfect fit for you to pass the place onto.

Hi Girls, I'm pleased to inform you all that I'm no longer dying! A few more days and I should be fully back to myself.
I was just driving north on 131 and saw it. I couldn't believe the smoke. It must have stretched for 2 or 3 miles west of the fire.
