Weekend Plans/General Chat Friday

On a side note, Bill's car is making a funny noise but he's still going to Houston.  I think he's going to end up renting a car to go and that's fine but I have no idea when he's going to get his car looked at because next weekend we are taking my dad to Austin for the day and then Sunday we have a show.

While it would probably be easier for him to have his own car, we are leaving tomorrow morning if he would like a ride.

  • Summer - Yes, you have!   P.S.  Expect to wait a ridiculously long amount of time to see your grades.  I'm not kidding.

ETA:  May 20th to be exact, I just looked.

  • imageMrzHoz:

I was surprised that several of them asked if this was planned. Hmm, yep, we are both 31 yrs old and married and have stable lives, and made the decision, so I am pretty sure you are not going to be seeing us on 16 and Pregnant anytime soon. I was slighlty ticked off by that question...

I get people are nosy but that is just rude.  It's none of their business anyways.

  • Looks like our dinner plans are back on, so I definitely won't be at the GTG! I always have to miss the ones that are closer to me, lol.

Kathy, that's definitely a "none of your business" type of question. What a strange thing to ask.

Yeah..really inappropriate.. I get that they are all really close and everything but somethings you just don't ask, and let's say if it wasn't planned ( which it was ), what did they expect us to say? "Yeah... this was a total accident.. I can't believe this happened" ?????

Wow, yeah there is no good answer to this.   Maybe they expected that if you guys were trying you would have told them?

    Weird.

  • Our barbeque sauce, seasoning, and marinade will arrive today!  Woohoo, just in time for the weekend.  This seriously made my day.

Maybe I am of the unpopular opinion on this one, but I don't think that its super over-the-line or any reason to get mad/ticked about.  That's one of those normal questions (yes, people ask ALL KINDS of questions) when you're expecting.  And since you've even made mention that he and his family are close, I wouldn't put too much stock into that question or get offended.

In fact, when my cousin turned up pregnant (she's 35, married, stable and already has 1 kid)... the first reaction out of most of us was "Oh my goodness!  So excited!  Did you guys plan this?"

While I can see where some would think that it's a little inappropriate - they're family, they're close, so I don't see a reason to get upset about it.

  • I will admit, I have asked people before if their pregnancies were planned or not.

I feel like I should be stoned, and maybe burned at the stake after this conversation.

    Tarred and feathered.

  • We don't really have too many plans for this weekend which is just fine for me.  Saturday is the gym and a pedi and lunch with my mom.  I have to leave early today for a doctor's appointment and I think we're all just staying home.  Sunday church and hopefully the Mavs game will be on.

Heh, tomorrow night we are watching Cheaters because one of Ben's friends is going to be on the show.  One of the guys he works with is dating a lawyer for the show and he hooked up the guy who will be on the show (who they also work with).  Should be hilarious.  (And in case you were wondering, the show is 100% fake.)

OMG! That is awesome. I have always wondered if that show is real.

So, nobody is really being cheated on? It's all set up?

Haha nobody needs to be stoned or burned at the stake.

I just didn't see that one coming... maybe some other people might ask us too as we tell more people, but from a family that I have heard has had some honeymoon baby conceptions, I didn't think there would be this much shock ... I mean we have been married for 9 months so the first baby should already be popping out right? :)

100%.  However, the producers did lead Ben's friend to believe certain things--like that the club was in on the whole thing so he could go in and do and say whatever.  But that wasn't true so when a fight breaks out, Ben's friend was a little taken aback.  So it's like they only give the people partial information, and then let whatever happens happens.  But the scenario between the "cheaters" is fake.

My sister was approached to do the show once, but I can't remember what ever came of that.

That show is crazy... I am glad that it is fake because some of the scenarios are so bizarre.. and it's always funny seeing the Dallas skyline in the evening outdoor busts that they do.

We have the same wedding date, so if that's the case, I'm so incredibly behind. I better get DH home from work ASAP! Surprise

Your smiley faces always make me LOL.

  • I can see where your feelings were hurt Kathy but like pp I can totally see why the question was asked.  My old boss has been married for 3 years already had one child and when she announced her second I was very curious if it was planned or not.  I know its really known of my business but I was still curious.  Also, if he is really close with his family they may have been a little surprised or even hurt they werent told you guys were planning.  Just another perspective.

BL, yeah I guess I am just not that used this whole chapter of life yet and people's reactions.. we will see how things turn out as more reactions roll in. :)

On another random note: I love this cooking blog... I have made some of previous recipes but right now I am drooling over some of the strawberry recipes down on the page and those pancakes.. yum..

Yes, it tends to take forever. It is one of my least favorite things - you just want to know already!

Why am I so busy at work?!?! It is Friday, I need to be hardly working toward the weekend!

I too am a "OMG, did y'all plan this?" person. Generally when the person already has a young child or maybe I am just nosy...oh well. :) When I get to be with child I will probably get those questions too, so I guess it's karma.

Random: Last night I made a Facebook party invite and did it wrong, so people who were not invited RSVP'd. Now we are just having a more the merrier party. Since it seems I also blasted my home address to the whole of my friend's list as well - feel free to stalk me/party crash. Lol.

I go back and forth on PW...her recipes are good but sometimes she grates on me a little personality-wise. I also just wish there were less pictures - I know how to crack eggs into a bowl, thanks!

Yeah I agree that some of it is a bit much like when she talks about her alien hand in the pictures, but you can always skip to the bottom to just the recipe by itself without pictures. I like some pictures though because I am a visual person.

  • Let's talk about Hyperbole and a Half.  Did any of you read the one about the fish?  OMG, hilarious!  I wanted to post the "Yay, tacos" picture yesterday but it wouldn't work for me.

I got this cookbook from my Aunt for a shower gift!  I'm not brave enough yet to try anything.  :)

I'm going to go look it up now.... I just finished reading the "Texas" one though.

So far, nothing beats cake at the parpy.

Did you see her on the Thanksgiving throwdown with Bobby Flay? Woo boy, LOTS of personality on that one, but it was endearing to see her with the "OMG that's Bobby Flay..." look.

  • A girl I went to HS and college with has a really neat baking blog.   She cooks all sorts of things, but her desserts look amazing.  I need to try some of them out.  www.mybakingheart.com

  • I may or may not have just ordered a freakin' awesome present for Tiffany.
