Apparently WIC only covers Gerber goodstart and it gives her bad reflux and gas. Her pedi gave her a sample of similac sensitive and her baby did a lot better but bc the goodstart is free she's just using it anyways.

Hmm....if her baby has true reflux, she can get a prescription from her doctor for a special formula (which WIC does offer but only if there's a diagnosed problem), and WIC will give her that formula as long as its one of their available covered special formulas. If they dont have that exact one, the dietitians there will suggest a suitable substitute with input from the doc.

A gassy baby isnt usually a reason for a special formula though. Most babies are gassy becuase of their not fully developed intestines. She can try taking breaks during a feeding to allow baby to digest, make sure she gets all of their air bubbles out of the bottle, mixes the formula and makes sure baby has the correct flow nipple. OR if her kid really truely has reflux (true relux =/= spitting up, spitting up is normal, projectile vomit and low weight gain are not) she should talk to her doc about it and try to get an alternate formula.

  • Oh man, this was so entertaining after a morning/day of meetings!  Most of these are "ditto's", but still....

    • Another Glee-hater here.  I tried, I gave it a shot, Nope.
    • Lady Gaga and Katie Perry are both on my sh*tlist right now, do they not play ANYTHING else on the radio anymore?  Enough!
    • Smokers getting all these breaks seriously pisses me off.  Must be nice to just walk away a few times a day and have it be ok.
    • An employee of mine just announced she is pregnant.  She is 20, works 15 hours a week, doesn't have a driver's license, and is already talking vouchers for daycare.  This was a planned thing.  I'm judging...big time.
    • Yeah, I block people from my FB newsfeed who only post about their children.  They are annoying, but also make me kind of sad.  C'mon people, I know you have more to your life than just your children? (or do you?)

I want to hear more about this friend who keeps her kid on WIC formula that makes her sick. I feel like she's leaving out information.

My UO....I get annoyed by women who post only about their child's sleeping/eating/pooping habits on FB. I dont want to read for the fifth day in a row how your kid is sleeping well/eating so many ounces/took a big ol' poo after 4 days. I can probably bet most of the people reading it dont care to read it either. On that note, I'm equally annoyed by the comments that those posts receive from other moms trying to one up the OP. Once in awhile is fine (hell I may do the same someday) but every. single. freakin. day? PLEASE TALK ABOUT SOMETHING ELSE.

Agreed. I really don't care that their daughter finally took a crap on the toilet or that their baby finally STTN. I also hate all the "Whoa is me" comments from SAHM's who complain about the amount of laundry they have or how many playdates they "need" to go to. I will be doing JUST as much laundry but squeezing it into the few hours I am home awake at night or on the weekends.

Her doc won't give a script bc it isn't that bad. That's why I'm annoyed by her bc she knows that the similac sensitive helped. She's just too selfish to spend her $$ on formula. Don't worry though, she just got some new Jimmy Choo's.

I judge smokers. Like, really harshly.  To the point I think of them as "Bad People," even when I know that they're very kind in every other aspect of their lives.  I have a nice, male coworker who smokes, and I know he's  a great father and husband, but I just think of him as inconsiderate for coming back from smoke breaks smelling like sh!t and making me want to hurl.  And when people smoke in their cars and the smell of it enters MY car?  I instantly hate that person with a burning passion. (This may not be all that unpopular of an opinion though, since smoking has become such a stigma in the U.S., for the most part.)

Yeah, I'm with you on this. I'm pretty sure tobacco is the #1 thing grown in east Tennessee (except maybe pot) so I have to deal with this a lot.

Also, people who text during movies make me want to kick their chairs really hard.

I don't like any reality TV or glee.

All I watch is reality tv and Glee. Embarrassed

  • My husband is still smoking. I'm kind of over pushing him to stop because all it does is cause tension between us. Sigh.

Ditto. But for real, our kids are so cute, I don't think anyone cares. Plus, I'm not in the habit about talking about my kid's poo, and I don't think you are either.

    Yes

SIL posted pics of her 2 year on the potty.  There's all kinds of wrong with that.

    • Lady Gaga and Katie Perry are both on my sh*tlist right now, do they not play ANYTHING else on the radio anymore?  Enough!

Ugh, I totally agree! On a similar note (mostly directed at Lady Gaga), I am lately finding myself wishing of most of their songs weren't so... politically/emotionally charged (for lack of a better word), I guess? I hate even typing it, because it doesn't really have anything to do with my take on the issues. But sometimes I just want to blast music in the car and sing along without feeling like I'm taking a stand, gosh darn it. Sometimes I just want good old fashioned shallow music to sing along to, like drinking in the club, if your girlfriend is hot like me, etc. (lol). Not about whether or not I am a firework and showing the world what I am worth, if I really DO feel like a plastic bag sometimes, or about if i am going to be shamed later in life for singing "I'm in love with Judas" out loud.

Also, with the whole Arnold/mistress thing. I give the side eye to people who say "I don't understand it, she's so ugly." I hate what she and Arnold knowingly did to that family, and I think she's a homewrecker, but I don't like that people are attacking her physical appearance and comparing her to Maria.

  • I'll play.  I harbor some resentment towards people who had their college and weddings paid for.  Yes, I realize a big wedding is optional and I probably didn't spend so much.  When I hear my friends complaining about their parents who are paying for everything but won't spring for the extra chocolate fountain, I get irate.  Spoiled much?  The friend I am thinking of also went to four years of private college, paid for buy her parents.  If I didn't have student loans and wasn't trying to still clean up after our post-wedding financial mess, I probably wouldn't be so annoyed.

This may be unpopular, but I am sick of parents who make judgmental comments to those who do not have kids.   I realize being a parent is hard.  I don't need to hear "must be nice" whenever I mention going out or whatever. (I have a co-worker who does that). I also get "Oh, you'll understand when you have kids." Maybe I am out of touch, but I find it condescending.  I have another friend who works that into nearly every conversation.

  • So late to this game, but I wanna play!  I have a few unpopular opinions!

    - I, too, hate reality television.  Real Housewives, teen mom, jersey shore - holy shiit, it makes me brain numb to even see the commercials.

    - I have a coworker who smokes a pack a day and gets food from the food bank b/c she only works part time.  Hello... $40 a week could probably feed her if she budgetted and cut coupons, but she "just can't quit."  I call BS on this one - if you want to quit, you quit.  I truly believe people can afford what they WANT to afford - whether it's wasting money on cigarettes or not draining the system and paying for food.

    - Speaking of coworkers, I have another one who has two young boys - ages 4 and 2.  She and her husband have friends over and have beer pong parties.  While the kids are home.  This can't be good.

    -  I think it's ridiculous how some married couples (barring pregnancy, post-pregnancy, having a newborn or illness or some other big issue) go weeks or longer without having sex.  I don't understand how sexual intimacy isn't a bigger priority in people's marriages.

Totally different. Neither of you is constantly whining about something kid related: not STTN, feeding, pooping, how much it sucks, etc. Posting cute pictures or talking about milestones/fun things your kid is doing is differnt than complaining. :)
