The overtime I worked last week gave me an awesome paycheck.  I put extra money in our joint account for bills, extra in savings, and I saved a few dollars for meSmile.  I'm rewarding myself with a pedicure and this necklace from Etsy:

His movies that stick out to me are Police Academy and Three Men and a Baby.

The only reason I know who he is is from an episode of Party Down. Which was a hilarious show on Starz about caterers in Hollywood.

  • He was better in Three Men and a Little Lady. :D

My phone is broken. Like, in two pieces--screen and keyboard. My contract is up in July. We don't have a landline, and even if we did, I wouldn't want to go 2mo without a cell. So I'm meeting DH, who is the contract holder (they are so picky about that) at Verizon today to pay through the nose for a full-cost replacement. And likely upgrade, since I've hated this phone since I got it. :(

Could you do a cheap-o prepay phone until July?  Maybe change your cell voicemail to let people know to call the other number until you can get an upgrade?

If you want a free (and very very very basic) phone to get you to July, I can send you my Juke.  It's a Verizon phone.

That's an idea... I have SO many contacts in that phone, though! I can't even tell you my parents' numbers without looking them up. :( One of my friends has a Verizon phone still under *her* contract that she said I could have, but I don't want to pay on our contract + pay her for that one, and she doesn't want to break contract b/c paying per month 'til the contract runs out is cheaper for her.

    :(

You might be able to have them get the contacts off the phone and download them onto a Verizon pre-pay phone. Or you could get a used Verizon phone from someone (Des&Mol) and just get it activated. I think it would only cost you $30 for the activation.

Also, if you renew your contract, you might be able to upgrade for free. I would go in there and see what they can do for you.

Yep, we're meeting this morning--figured might as well see how much more expensive it'll be to do it now anyway. If all I'm eligible for in July is a near-exact replacement (I don't have a smart-anything phone, just a simple flip) and I'd end up paying more ANYway, I might as well get it over with. I'll ask about renewing the contract; DH's phone (the main line) is already eligible for upgrade.

  • First of all, I your H able to add you as a decision maker on the account? We did this with ATT so I can get info from customer service and make changes to the acct if necessary. Not sure if Verizon has something similar. Also, I'm sure they'll cover this with you, but if H's phone is elgible for upgrade, he can give you the the new phone and keep his until your line is elgible. Thirdly, get an iPhone ;)

LOL! A friend has an old one she offered, but we don't have AT&T. I thought about him upgrading now and either giving me his current Droid, or the other way around. He's tired of me sending him options, though, so we'll just have to wait until we get there to continue the discussion. I just hate being bullied by Verizon and feeling like it's all out of my control. Why are phones so expensive?

They do, you just need to know the "password" or "passcode" or whatever.  Our is a five digit combo of letters and numbers.

I thought iPhone is coming out with a new one in July or August?  I am waiting for that one...  Big Smile

  • You're right Molly. iPhone 5 is coming out soon and it's wise to wait for it. If someone *needed* a new phone, however, I think it's okay get one now. Also, I think the 5 is just upgrading some features and isn't a revolutionary design change like the iPhone 4 vs the 3G.

That's it!  I expect both of you to come over this month to watch Short Circuit.  Sigh... 14 year old GRSweetpea found him dreamy.

From what I can tell it looks like this Sept. they will be announcing the next iPhone but as a 4S, not the 5 just yet. It also sounds like the 4S will or should be able to work with Sprint and T-Mobile. I'm watching updates on it daily.

  • Jim has been at a 2 day conference (in GR).  He brought one of the centerpieces home for me last night.  Beautiful dark gerbera daisys, orange/yellow tea roses, and white fancy carnations.  So pretty.

  • er... daisies.

Fun fact for the day: American wars have had a big influence on the counseling profession.  The army used testing to figure out what levels to place troops at, and returning vets needed jobs, and people to tell them what jobs would be good for them.  And then the whole mental health fallout issues to deal with.  Someone has a test tomorrow for class.

And someone sounds more than ready for the test!!

So sweet that you H brought you the centerpiece. Very thoughtful.
