Re: QOTD

  • We kept it off until like 2am this morning. It was like 10 million degrees in our room and I couldn't take it anymore.

  • Yes.  We actually had it on a few weeks ago when it hit 80 and then turned it off.  Gabriel has a really hard time sleeping when it's hot.  He's typically a warm body, so rather than fight with him all night we turned it on.

  • We don't have central air - which really sucked last night because OMG it was horrible.  We do have a wall unit in our bedroom which we did turn on yesterday because the fan just wasn't doing it.

  • I am not sure, DH got home yesterday but knowing how cheap he is with AC I bet you he did not.

Same reason we turned ours on.  Nick is a warm baby.  Our house said it was 75, I was fine, but he was miserable.

Kbaby likes to give me a hard time b/c Gabe never has pants on when it's hot :)  The socks are usually the first to go, then the pants.

  • Nope - we just had the fans running last night and we were all comfortable.  Our house actually stays pretty cool. It was 75 in the house, but it felt comfortable.  We didn't open ANY windows yesterday so I think it helped keep the humidity out.

  • We don't have central air, but H put the wall unit in our bedroom. We turned it on at some point in the evening. Of course, there aren't any electrical outlets near the window, so we have a nice orange extension cord across the floor.

  • We turned it on yesterday afternoon because the house just got too warm, but turned it off again before bed and opened up the windows.

  • Sigh....no.  It was pretty miserable yesterday, but we got out all the fans and survived.  Now we get a break from the heat for a while once the storms come today.
  • Yup. My house gets way too hot.

  • Briefly yesterday.  So happy it is still working!  The unit has to be original to the house and is looking pretty rough, but knock on wood, it is working great.  My parents were over and helping us do some hard work and we were all really hot

  • I am way too cheap, so we did not.  We had the ceiling fan on full blast in the bedroom & had the upstairs windows open for a cross-wind.  It was pretty hot last night but it was nice and chilly by morning.

  • I turned it on yeaterday afternoon. It was reading 78 in our house. We were both miserable outside working and I couldn't take it anymore. I actually left it on all night.
  • we did not.  I was sooo tempted last night, but didn't.  We had the window open & the ceiling fan on full blast.  Also for about an hour before we went to bed we turned on the attic fan and had just the bedroom window open so it really cooled off that room.   I love the attic fan, it can sometimes bring down the temp 5-7 degrees in a matter of an hour or so.  It pulls up cool air from the basement.

about 2am, I actually got a little bit chilly so it ended up working out perfect.

  • Nope.  And I HATE being hot...but it wasn't too bad.
  • We turned it on last night. Our house was reading 84 degree. So we closed all the windows, turned it on for an hour and then turned it off and went to bed.

  • Yes. It was on yesterday.  We both agree that we will not suffer and our house gets really hot.

  • Nope.  We dont have central air, only window units.  We talked about putting them in, but ended up just using some fans instead.  It wasnt so bad.

  • I turned it on for about an hour or so after I got in on Saturday from planting flowers. It was hotter than sh!t in the house because I had all the windows open. Once the sun went down, there was a nice breeze, so I turned the A/C off. We also turned it on briefly yesterday. It got so humid I couldn't stand it. We turned it off right before bed and just used the couple fans we have and opened the windows. I woke up this morning and it was actually warmer in the house than it was outside.
  • We were in Chicago this wknd, but ILs (who were at our house watching LOs) had turned it on while we were gone. Thank goodness, because it gets really hot in our house.

  • Yep - turned it on the last time it hit 80 too although we keep it set at like 74.

Between the dog, my allergies and a perpetually hot H, everyone is happier with the a/c on.

  • We turned it on at 11pm last night- with the rain that fell, we had to close our windows and it was an oven even with fans. I turned it off at 7:30am and I hope to keep it off for a long time.

  • No, but we were out of town most of the weekend, I kind of wish we would have last night though.
  • I'll add that we do live very close to the lake and it tends to be cooler out that way.  I don't think our house got above 75 and at like 7:00 it was only 71 in our house.  And we only have one ceiling fan and it's in the family room.
  • No, DH is the A/C nazi.  I complain but he doesn't care.  He thinks that if we just leave the windows open at night, the house will miraculously become as cool as it is outside.  In the meantime, me and the cat have to suffer.
