Re: SA Wednesday

  • I'll start by saying I am so grateful that the storms didn't do as much damage last night as the ones in Joplin did. Looking at the pictures from that storm is terrifying.
Just another day in never never land. Photobucket
  • It's slow this morning! Almost 9:30 and barely anything on this thread.

Oh me too girl, today is bad.  I'm dragging and want to go home.  It's going to be hard to concentrate today at work.  I even made extra strong coffee today.  UGH

  • It is SO slow this morning.

Funny story... this weekend I got a text from someone (who had the wrong number)...

Random person: I need your license #
From me:  Um, who is this?
    Random person:  Is this Summer?

    Summer shoutout!

  • My butt hurts from having to sit so much at work.  I get up as often as I can but still...

We are having a retirement party for someone at work.  My coworker told the restaurant we would have about 10 except she invited over 200 people and only 2 hours after sending the invite we are at 13 yeses, 3 no's and 3 maybe's.  I just hope it works out :)

Oh and for the first time in 2 weeks, I actually have an appetite.

  • Sorry, I've been getting the 411 from the counselor in charge of scheduling and seeing what's going to happen to me next year.  It's crazy how little is nailed down for the start of next school year.

Bill....ugh, this morning!  I was so mad at him because we had work to be done around the house this morning and he went back to sleep instead of getting up and helping me.  So, when he decided that his nap was more important, I decided that the internet was more important.  Not very mature at this point but I was a little too mad to care.

  • I know...I keep trying to think of something and I have nothing.

I went couponing this morning and got awesome deals, but I have talked about that before. P.S. Tiffany - I only bought things I will actually use and I only bought 1 of most things and 2 of some - lol.

I leave for South Carolina on Saturday and won't be back until next Sunday. DH is staying here to work, which sucks but it will be nice to go to the beach for a few days.

I used to do coffee every day until 2006 or so.  When I have it now, I can be off the wall from the caffeine except I've had it a few days over the last week and I find myself more tired when I have had it.  Tonight I plan on going to bed super early.

Lol. Yes and no. I had coupons I clipped from the paper and some from printing online. I matched the coupons to the sales and got about $50 worth of stuff for $2.37. I used to do it when DH and I first met, but stopped when I didn't have time anymore. Since leaving my full time job I have more time and would like to get back into it for when I become a stay at home mom to help with the grocery/non-food expenses.

Tiffany has been upset about this show Extreme Couponing on TLC which shows crazy people using coupons to buy 200 mustards for free and adding them to their "stockpiles" which already have things like enough toothpaste for 40 years. They are hoarders and scare me.

  • Leslie - I'd love to know how you do it... I tried coupons one time and saved about $10 buck (which is better than nothing!)... but I agree, I won't buy things I wouldn't use in a reasonable time.
  • Odd question but is anyone here good with resumes and think they could help me out with something? Big Smile

If you girls are interested we could do a weekly coupon post that highlights the deals of the week. I was going to ask before, but wasn't sure if anyone would be into it.

Some of the things I bought today are awesome timing for me: Thermacare heat wraps, Advil Migraine, tampons, panty liners and Butterfingers! lol. I also got deodorant for DH, hair ties, toothbrushes, toothpaste, contact solution and shaving cream. It was obviously a drugstore morning. Smile

I was also pretty proud of our total at Alberston's last week, we bought our weekly groceries and food for a party for 30 people for less than $100. We saved $55 with coupons, which DH was estatic about.

I boycott the couponing G2G!!   LOL, I'm kidding.

Don't you just clip coupons from newspapers, mailers, and online and then cross reference them to the weekly store ads to match up the best price for items?

i.e Colgate on sale for $1.99 and you have a $1 off coupon, but if you go on Wednesday (or whatever special day) it is double coupon day then you get it free?

    Am I anywhere close Leslie?

You sure are knowledgeable for a coupon-hater...haha! That's basically the idea but there are some variables that help make things basically free that are a little more complex.

  • I would be down for weekly coupon thread.

My problem is, I've noticed the things that go on sale, and the things there are coupons for are not things we buy.

For instance, DH and I are both particular about what kind of deodorant we use, as well as toothpaste.  And we buy the same brand of chips nearly every week. So, how are we going to save money just waiting for these specific things to go on sale or come out with coupons?

  • I am open to the couponing info.  I am not sure I will be any good or have the patience for it but I need to give it a try.  We spend about 150-200 per week on groceries and other random items and I would love to cut it down.

Question though: Can you be brand loyal and still get good deals.  I am very loyal to certain brands of most items and will not just buy whatever is on sale that week.  Is it still possible to save a decent amount?

Cause the crazy couponers only buy things that are free, regardless of if they like them or not. :)

Leslie - I am pretty saavy, surprisingly.   However I have trouble effectively using my coupons at NY and Co. and Express, so I suspect major grocery couponing is probably not for me.

I'm very particular about a lot of the things we eat/buy.

I'd be up for a thread, at least to see if I could benefit!

I'm totally brand loyal.  I know what works best for me/us and it's hard to deviate.  I don't think I would do very well, but maybe I'm wrong.

Tiffany, Express is my weakness!  Embarrassed

  • Re:  40 tubes of mustard.

I just wonder:  "Why do they need that much mustard if they don't run a restaurant?  Do they drink it?  Because if they do, that's gross."
