  • I found some dark chocolate chips at Target on clearance.

And today is a perfect baking day.

Morning!  Went to the dr. this morning, everything looks great!

Last night I bought a HUGE box of baby girl fall/winter clothes for $40.  I got to pick and choose everything I wanted too.  I *heart* CL.

  • Mira, I've been thinking of you and Gracie.  Good thoughts, good thoughts, good thoughts...

  • I'm supposed to be having my living room painted today... yesterday the painter (a friend) texted that she couldn't be here at 9, can we do 10? No problem. This morning she says her meeting goes 'til 10:30, can we do 11? OK, I'm home.

I really want to have this done while DS is at daycare so the smell can dissipate before he has to sleep--the LR is right next to our bedrooms.

Bonus, I've had time to take "before" pics. And I might do my Target errand before she gets here.

    That's awesome!

  • Good Morning!

Mira - Hope all goes well at Gracie's appt.  Continued good thoughts.

    Wop - Sweet deal!

Tonight is indeed a baking day - I've been doing a bunch of baking for our annual Memorial Day trip over the bridge to our friend's parents' place.  I've got 3 items down (Marshmallow Blondies, Morning Glory Muffins and Chocolate Chip Cheesecake Bars) and 4 items to go (Jalepeno Corn Muffins, Pumpkin Creamcheese Roll, Better-Than-Crack Brownies and Texas Caviar).

  • I guess that Target is a big thing with this group! I love Target!

  • When it rain.. it pours. It has been an expensive two months for us. We had to put a two week deposit down for daycare, get Brian new suits, I had my physical which isn't covered by my insurance until I reach my deductible so all those bills will be pouring in soon. I think I will be out about $500 for that. I still have one more drs bill for Mia which will be about $150. Our furance went out and we put $1,000 down on that.  Both our car registrations are due the same time. TH's car insurance will come in soon.

Then our sewer backed up. So that was $175 today. The plumber then pointed out that the wall was leaking. I ran outside and the gutter exention was laying against the garden divider and creating a dam.  Luckily he caught that before we had too much damage.

I think I'm going to put us on a spending freeze for June and July.

Mira, forgive my ignorance, but who is Gracie so I can send some thoughts and prayers her way?

Me too.  I would love to have more time to bake.  Heck, I'd love to have more time, period.

I'm in a crabby mood today.  People are irritating me.  My job is irritating me.  My second "job" is irritating me.  grumblegrumblegrumblegrumble.

She is my dog/fur child.  I hate saying she is "a dog", because she is such more then that to me.  Big Smile

Dude, I would love to be at all of your houses, eating whatever you're baking...

Also, how in the world did dark chocolate chips stay on the shelf long enough to be put on clearance?? Travesty!

Okay, I assumed it was your dog, but then you said "cardiologist" and I was confused.  We have two boxers as well.  What is wrong with her heart?

I think I put too much honey in my tea. I did not think such a thing was possible, but there it is.

  • Thanks for all the good thoughts for Gracie.  Now we just wait. The results form her test should be in in a week.

About baking. . . If I were to bake some cookies or bars today, would they still be fresh and yummy by this weekend?  As you can guess treats usually don't last that long around here.  Embarrassed But I would like to bring some up north this weekend.

What kind of tests did they do that will take a week to get results?  Did they do an echo?

  • GVSU - I'm sorry to hear of all the troubles.  Here's hoping an end to the big spend is coming soon.

Kasa - Sounds like the long holiday weekend is just what you need.  Hope you can find some time to relax!

Mira - as far as baking - I made 2 items on Sunday and froze them, because I was worried about freshness.  Really I think baked goods are ok and stay fresh for about a week after baking.  The muffins I made last night and the rest I intend to cook tonight and tomorrow I will not freeze and should be good through Monday.

Yeah they did an echo.  It detected a murmur, but structurally everything was ok.   Ruled out the murmur as the cause of the problem.  SHe had an EKG run for about 10-15 mins, and that came back fine.

Yesterday she wore a heart monitor for 24 hrs and that is what we are waiting a week on the results for.

Basically a few weeks ago she collapsed.  She walked up a hill, just fell over and rolled down the hill.  When I got to her, her gums were gray and her tongue was blue.  She since has a had a couple strange episodes of acting funny, and her gums going white.

  • I think I am in denial that I am pregnant.  I have not bought anything for the baby yet.  I still haven't bought that stupid crib, I don't know what the heck I am waiting for.

  • So I called my 75 year old MIL around 11:30 to see if she could watch the girls. I had to listen to her talk for about 20 minutes, including how her and my 82 year old FIL worked for about  3 hours cutting the grass yesterday.  I finally got around to asking if she or SIL could babysit the girls. SIL is 42 years, unemployed and living at home (has only lived on her own for 1 year out of her life). MIL said she couldn't check with SIL because she was still sleeping (at 11:30 am).  Angry  If SIL has nothing better to do then sleep in to noon, then why can't she mow the Effing lawn.

I just called TH to *** about it. I told him that we need to set up a schedule between the three kids in town to mow the lawn. The only problem is that my FIL is so freakin stubborn that he wants to cut the grass as soon as it grows an inch, so he does it 2-3 time a week.  FIL has Parkinsons and has been told not to cut grass anymore.

Do you have a bassinet or PNP with a bassinet feature. If so, you can get away without a crib for several weeks - months. However I would get going on ordering the crib. Sometimes it can take a while to come it.

I'm sure the move probably had something with not wanting to buy stuff. How much do you have left to get?  Can you mom come for a weekend and help you get stuff settled in and figured out what you need. You can make a girls weekend out of it - get pedis and mani.
