My dad wanted to name me Candace so he could call me Candy. SO glad my mom won that battle.

    OMG, this made me LOL.

  • If I had been a boy, I would have been named Robert after my Grandpa who had just died.

My funny name story...my parents let my 3 year old brother name me.  On Mr Dressup there was a girl character named Beth Anne so that was it.  My brother wanted me to be Beth Anne.  It was officially Elizabeth Anne, but they let my brother name me.

My best friend is Candace and she would murder anyone that called her Candy.  I call her Ace... now that's a nickname.

I was supposed to be named Aubrey, but my mom found out it meant Elf King so that was nixed.  Then I was going to be Erin Elise, but at the last minute they switched it to Lindsey and Erin got bumped to the middle name.  I always loved my name because I loved having "LEO" as my initials.

E has a similar story to you, eoulette - his parents always wanted to call him Eli, but thought he should be named after his dad, so he became Joseph.  They also thought Eli was too short for a middle name, so they made it Elliott - so Eli is actually a nickname of his middle name.  Not QUITE so confusing but it still freaks people out sometimes... one of our friends calls him "JosephcallmeEli"

    Now jumping domestically.

I was almost going to be called Matthew Scott because everyone was sure I was going to be a boy (no big gender revealing scans in 1969).  I was going to be named Jennifer, but my cousin was born a few months before me and they named her Jennifer.  Just as well; I don't think it would have fit me.

Xochil- I can't see that being very easy in Michigan. My last name is Czech and when I moved south to Atlanta nobody can pronounce it. Oh well.

My BFF's maiden name is Czech.  It is spelled and pronounced exactly like you think it would be and she still had to spell it for people.
