Re: Thursday Chit-Chat
Do you have the capability of printing it out on an edible sheet?
This story was actually featured on the Cake Wrecks blog because of the part about the gender mix-up, which was funny. I think it's becoming like candy bars at weddings - the wedding girls knew about them for months before the magazines were like "oh hey - wedding trend!"
Sadly I will be away from home, so my options are fondant or buttercream. I am leaning fondant, but buttercream would be tastier. I have just been procrastinating so much on it, I don't know why.
I am making my sister's birthday cake this afternoon though - cookies and cream cake with cookies and cream frosting. Sorry Oreo craving girls...
I didn't get a chance to read the whole article but that's along the lines of what we want to do, expect just to surprise immediate family ( parents/siblings).
There is no way my huband would be able to walk of the doctor's office without ripping open the envelope and finding out the gender.
I love him.. he is a total kid at heart. The night after our wedding when we were supposed to be finishing packing for the honeymoon and getting some rest before our early flight to Hawaii, he insisted on tearing through all the presents to see what we got. I honestly was too tired and wanted to wait until we got back, but no such luck.

I just went to start a load of laundry and a dribble of water came out of my washing machine. I called DH, and he called the apartment complex and they said the water would be off for the next hour-hour and 1/2.
Thanks for the heads up.
This would really piss me off. They are supposed to give you notice.
It really does. I haven't even brushed my teeth today. I feel gross. And I was trying to clean, so I had to stop. Because who wants to get all grimy and then not be able to wash your hands and take a shower?
Do you have some bottled water to brush you teeth .. wash your hands?

I have a few bottles. I just used one to brush my teeth. I'm about to go to the store and buy some more!
Before we bought our house we were never told when the water would be turned off and it was never for half an hour or an hour, it was half the day most times.
What do you do to eat clean, exactly? I try sticking to the outsides/parameter of the store, I wash my fruits and veggies in a mixture of either salt water, vinegar water or water/vinegar/baking soda mix. We aren't perfect but we've tried to stay away from the "Dirty Dozen" and go organic on those, which usually means just not buying them
I make what I can from scratch and what I can't make from scratch I try to get natural ingredients and we stay away from high fructose corn syrup.
Flame me if you like, but I started watching "Bethenny, Getting Married?" last summer as it was airing right before our wedding. (I never watched RHO NYC before this) It was nice to see that someone else was freaking out or having issues about the wedding planning like I was. I ended up really liking the show, just watched the second season, and downloaded her books. So where am I going with this?
I just started reading her first book "Naturally Thin" on my trip. I have to say, I really like it. All through my trip I find myself thinking about it and altering the way I have eaten a meal. One thing she talks about is eating fresh 'real' foods, not processed crap. Her second book "The Skinnygirl Dish" is supposed to take it a step farther and talk about recipes for cooking fresh food.
I'll let y'all know what I think after finishing both, but I'm very happy I started reading it. It seems to be a real perspective on food. Nothing you don't already know, but a healthy way to look at eating in general.

Um yeah we still don't have water. I would love to take a shower tonight.
I just went to our other office across the street and holy cow... DH's car (it's a rental, don't worry) has the rear window and side window completely busted from the hail. Not just busted like cracked...but large chunks of glass are completely missing. They have it wrapped in pink plastic until he comes back, it looks so sad. What's weird is it's an SUV... the back window doesn't face the sky at all and neither does the side. That had to be some serious wind.
If you don't live around DFW airport, be thankful. The hail damage here is like nothing I've ever seen.
Oh wow. Wind damage that bad? That's crazy!!
I can't start coming to lunch until after next week--one. more. week.
When I first moved in with Bill, I went on a throw away spree and holy cow!!! I was throwing away food that had expiration dates of 2001, Indian food spices and kits (which he had bought back in 2005) and a whole host of other things. I remember him getting misty eyed over a set of mugs--even though I was letting him keep one--from a place where he used to work. Ugh.
I'm not into the bad boy type, but I totally have a crush on him.
Shortgirl, kind of like Michelle said--fresh, organic, unprocessed foods. To take it a step further, you would stop drinking sodas and quit using artificial sweeteners and refined sugar also. And of course no high fructose corn syrup, and only olive oil for cooking. Most of this I do anyway but I'm making more of an effort to buy organic, switched to wheat pasta, no sodas, etc. I've quit going by the candy bowl in the afternoon also and I've given up my beloved Oreos and replaced it with a bite of dark chocolate after dinner instead.
A coworker gave me Suzanne Somers book "Fighting Fat after Forty" I think it's called. She goes further with it than I'll ever be able to but it did give me some things to think about and showed me where I can make some changes. I'm also going to start doing yoga once a week.
The spa we went to has a cookbook I'm thinking of getting also.
