    Dear Nesties,

I'm considering going to my NP who does extensive hormone/blood testing to see if she can find out why I am always so tired (no matter how much sleep I get) ... I know it isn't normal because this didn't start until a couple of months ago.

Anyone ever had this done/think it was worth it?   She apparently does saliva testing which is much better than blood testing.    I don't like taking drugs at all, and I'm SO not the person to constantly drink caffeine or 12,000x the daily recomended value of B12. (seriously, I read this on a supplement label...that can't be healthy).   I'm not tired in the morning, it actually usually hits me around mid-afternoon.

I'd rather just find out what's really wrong than try to take things to offset it.

-Nestie who could curl up and take a nap at any time

    I bet it's a GIRL! Surprise bahahah.

    jk

But no, really, I hope you find out what's wrong.

I don't really know much about this. But they may want to send you to a sleep lab, to see what's really going on at night and if you're just not getting good quality sleep for other reasons.

  • Tiffany - do yo think maybe it's an iron deficiency?  Could you be anemic, possibly?
  • Lauren,

I seriously cant wait to look through your pics.  I would do it now but I wont be able to give them the attention they deserve. Smile

    Tiffany,

I think the saliva test is a good idea. I recently heard of someone who had the same issue and found out their adrenal (sp?) glands were not creating enough of certain hormones and thats what was causing it.

I was going to suggest the Iron deficiency too. But usually with that you would have other symptoms as well from what I understand.

If you take a regular multivitamin daily, I don't see why you would have an iron deficiency though.

Haha - I can confirm there are no babies, with certainty!

I take a regular multi.  I even changed the brand last week to see if that would help.   I really don't think it is sleep because it started about a month before I had sleep issues, plus I rested and relaxed all weekend and it hit me again today.

Maybe I will make an appointment and see.   It couldn't hurt, right?

  • Dear Tiffany,

As you know, I am experiencing the same thing myself.  I have currently stopped taking Claritin, stopped drinking diet soda, and since Mel can go to the bus stop by herself now, started sleeping a few hours more a week.  (Sometimes I counteract that though by staying up later at night.)  I am feeling better--still tired but I see a difference.  I think it was the Claritin.  When it wore off every day, it was just draining me.

I go for my yearly in 2 weeks and I plan to have my blood work done and my thyroid levels checked.

  • I'm using an allergy doctor that works out of Craig Ranch.  My mother in law is a nurse and referred me to this doctor.  Sorry her name has slipped my mind right now but she is really nice.

BL - Your trailer was really cute!

Stephie - We stayed at Excellence Playa Mujeres... hope you had a chance to see some wedding pics, I just got through the rehearsal, getting ready and first look.

Gah, I love your siggy pic!  It will probably be tonight before I can look at them.  Can't wait!

You are so sweet!  It's my current favorite.  I keep switching favorites when I go through all of the pictures again.

I'm so lost.  Where is everyone looking at your wedding pictures?

Facebook?  That would explain a lot.

  • Tiffany is PG?!

    Tiffany is PG?!

    Surprise

    Good heavens, no.

I just made an appointment.  I took the online survey on the Dr's site and it says it very well could be adrenal or testosterone, ironically.   According to the survey, I have more symptoms than I even realized.

Well I don't really know anything about either of those things...but I hope they're easy to fix.

I think you should to go the dr.  I hope they can help and you start to feel more energized soon.  :)

I would ask your DR if they plan on doing the saliva test because there are certain foods and drinks you cant have the day of the test to ensure it doesnt mess with the hormones they are testing for.  I hope they figure it out and you get to feeling better soon.

I had to do something like this late last year.  I couldn't have anything to eat or drink 2 hours before I went to bed and you had to chew on this cotton bar for 2 minutes between midnight and 2 am, when 'things' are ideal.

    How weird is that?!

Thanks Ladies, I'm sure they will be able to get to the bottom of this!

  • Dear bossy coworker-

What do you not understand about a task being YOUR responsibility, NOT mine?  Is this clear as mud to you?  You've been talked to how many times now?  You keep trying to push it off on me and I guess I will continue to push back because while you are used to being asked "How high?" when you say "Jump", I'm done.
