I'm ready...I think

So I've had a massive case of baby rabies lately and I have come to realize that I think I am ready for #2 just not sure Rick is...I know its a total personal decision but for those of you that have 2 or are close to having 2 what made you think that it was the right time?

I don't want a huge age difference...If we were to get pregnant in the next few months Josh would be 3 and I think that is good

Re: I'm ready...I think

  • That is about our timeline. We want #2 to be born sometime in the 6 months following T's 3rd birthday.  We are huge planners and this just seems to work for us.  Gives me a year to lose the weight from Taylor and then some too....just gotta get on the horn!

  • I'm floundering :) DH is ready though. I don't want to have another one too close to DD's birthday ( want to be there to enjoy it, not in the hospital for weeks!) But if we have another one it will probably be somewhere between when Caroline is 2.5- 3.5. Of course, who knows! :) I'm just by done giving Caroline 110% of my attention yet!
  • I was the one who wasn't 100% ready for baby #2, but DH was.  He wanted our kids 2 to 2 1/2 years apart, whereas I was thinking more of a 2 1/2 to 3 year gap would be ideal.  DH told me to remember that it could take months to conceive.  So we tried and of courser I got pg right away...luckily we waited one month though so our kids' birthdays are a month apart (my brother & I grew up w/ the same birthday but 2 years apart and I didn't want that for my kids).

Personally, I wanted to wait until I felt like DH & I were on solid ground again before TTC because having Jake really rocked the boat.  I also wanted to stop BFing Jake before getting pg (although this wasn't the case - I weaned Jake when I was about 8 weeks along).  In the end, I figured I'd just jump in and go for it, and it would work out.  I'm so glad we did, because I can't imagine life without my little Katie  :o).  I think you sound like you're ready - you could always use MH's logic on your husband and see if he falls for it like I did!

  • Well number two was a little unexpected to us. We want our kids close so it worked out ok, if I wasn't pregnant we would have started trying this summer so Evie would have been close to 2.?

  • I never really thought about it in a practical manner once the time came.  I'd just always figured I'd have kids about two years apart and liked the timing of a spring pregnancy.  If at the time I'd tried to analyze whether or not I was ready for a second kid, I may have freaked out, so I'm glad I didn't. Not that I wasn't ready, but it's easy to psych yourself out, you know? :)

Since I never had definite plans for a third, I expect to be in your boat this time next year....

  • I don't have any advice for you since I'm still working on cookin' #1, but I just wanted to lend my support and tell you I think it would be awesome if you and Rick had another baby! You're such a fantastic Mama to Josh, and I know you'd be just as amazing with another one!

  • DH and I are ready for #2, but still a bit freaked about the idea. Especially now that the time to TTC is almost here. We are hoping to conceive over the summer which would make our kids 3 year apart. I definitely needed these 2 year to have a year off of bfing and feel like my body was my own again.

  • Well, I have no babes of my own but my sisters and I are all 3 years apart (there are 3 of us) and it was a really nice distance. We are now all in our 20s and are all best friends. As children we were far enough apart to be in different stages of school and life which was nice - I got to start high school and college by myself and make my own way, but then my senior year my middle sister was a freshman so we had fun overlapping (same with middle sis and youngest, who overlapped).

I hear you on not wanting a huge age difference!! Matt's son is 2 and a half and I worry about how far apart in age he will be from any future siblings. His (half) sister is 7 or 8 now, and I don't want him to feel bad if any others that come along are 5 or 6 years in the opposite direction, but I guess that's probably how it will be.

This is exciting, yay possible new babies! :)

We were thinking originally of timing the birth of a second with Marcus going to kindegarten, but I don't really want them to be 5 years apart. It's really based on finances, so if we don't have the money for two in daycare, we'll just have to wait, but I'm hoping maybe we can move up the timeline a little so they're more like 4 years apart. I know we're
