Tuesday Randoms

Today will be the second full day I've worked since May 19th.  Wow.

My surgeon went over the report with the results from my gallbladder.  I had approx 100 stones ranging from 2 mm to 5 mm.  I also had chronic cholecystitis.  There is a still a stone left in my system.  It's caused 1 "attack" so far, but that was 11 days ago.  Doc says if it happens again, then I'll have to get it removed.  Lucky me.  :)

Oooh, and I got an iPhone!  My other phone just stopped turning on, so I *had* to get a new one, right?  Wink

  • Holy Cow D&M - I'm glad you're *almost* in the clear - hopefully that lone stone doesn't cause any more problems.

  • Wow... that's a heck of a PITA D&M! Good luck with that last one. :(

This morning I ran from our hotel to the Art Museum in Philly and ran up the steps. I've never seen a "Rocky" movie, but it was still cool. :)

  • Wow, you've been through a lot, Des&Molly!  No wonder you were so miserable!  I still can't believe that you largely worked through all of that, though, leading up to your surgery.  You're tough!

Did you fist pump at the top of the steps?  Smile

    That is very cool!

  • Hopefully it's okay that I just randomly pop back in on the board from time to time and then disappear for a while...my internet playtime is severely limited during my busy months.

D&M, that's crazy!  I hope the last stone doesn't cause any more problems!!

  • I've been slacking on my yoga for the past 6 weeks and have been having a hard time getting to classes.  However, I went to one last night and it was with a new instructor (which is always tough for me).  My body hates me for that.  About 3/4 of the way through the class I hit a wall, and couldn't for the life of me do the rest of the poses.  My strength was completely zapped and I felt like I'd been hit by a truck by the time I got home.  I'm still tired today.

I guess what's what I get for skipping so many classes recently.  It was so frustrating though.

Hopefully I can bury this in the randoms...

My brother called last night and dropped a BOMB.  He's getting a divorce from his wife of almost 2 years because of an affair he is having Surprise  My family is going to have a hayday with this information.  I'm completely staying out of it.  The less I know the better.  We'll see how my baby shower goes in a month Tongue Tied (P.S. don't feel sorry for me or anything.  I'm honestly not surprised they're getting divorced, I just didn't think it would be this soon or an affair would be the cause.)

Yikes - that is a bomb.  Hopefully it doesn't cause too much family drama.

Ditto.  That sounds rough.  Family drama is the worst.  I hope yours is minimal.

I hate the first class/workout back after a break. Even just 2 weeks can throw me off.  Good thing is you only have to get through one "first class" back and each class will get easier.

  • D&MJ - Glad you are feeling better and hopefully no more attacks!!

Wop - Hope things get resolved calmly and with as little craziness for you as possible.

Thanks guys.  The two people I worry about are my dad and grandma, they're both total drama queens.  I can see my grandma saying something crazy and making an awkward scene at the baby shower.  I at least have the balls to put her in her place though.  If I think she's crossed a line, I'll tell her so.  Hopefully she can keep her emotions and opinions in check for a few hours.  LOL.  The shower isn't for another month, so I hope things will have calmed down by then when everyone says their piece and moves on.

Love this!  Like Kasa, I'm also wondering if you danced and fist pumped at the top?

  • D&M: Thumbs Up on the new iPhone. are you loving it already?

Katers: Awesome "Rocky" move. I took tour of Philly when I was there last year and got to see a lot. We went by those stairs and several people were running up them ala Rocky.

    Wop: Drama Llama alert.

Kasa: I know the same feeling but with the treadmill and bike and arc cross trainer thingy.

I just realized that as of tomorrow we are half way through JUNE!! Holy Moly.

  • Wop, that's crazy.  Hope you don't have too much fallout to deal with.

    Good (late) morning all.

Yesterday I found myself laughing at my own frustration.  I was driving on Knapp (where there's a mighty nice bike lane),and there was a bicyclist who was riding in the car lane, causing swerving and slow downs.  I was irritated with him.  Then I realized that was pretty silly.  I don't know why he wasn't using the bike lane though.

I honestly have no problem with bikers in the road.  They deserve to be there too.  However, I also get annoyed when there is a bike lane or bike path and for some reason they are not using it and are in the road.  It seems like it would be safer to use the lane, be best for everyone traveling that day - I have no idea why a biker would not use it but maybe I'm just ignorant.

  • Juli, I'm the same way. In college, I was a bike commuter (it was just 3 miles round trip).  I know how awful drivers can be to bikers.  He also wasn't wearing a helmet.  Bad, bad biker! ;)

  • WRT bikers on the road:  On Lakeshore Drive south of Grand Haven there is a bike path that runs pretty much all the way to Holland.  I used that path frequently for running while training for Riverbank and often saw bikers using the actual road vs. the path.  It was always the ones on road bikes (and wearing helmets) so I wonder if faster-moving bikers prefer to be on the actual road?

Please tell me he was at least wearing a helmet.

Really, unless he needed to make a left turn, he should have been using the bike lane.  And if he did need to make a left turn, then he should follow all the rules of the road that cars should follow.  Signaling, obeying traffic lights. It is for his safety.

Bikers like this give good bikers a bad name!! I swear must of us want to play nice.

    Definitely.

We just road this path for the first time a couple weekends ago. That path has horrible blind spots.  It has little sharp bends throughout length of the path.  A biker traveling at high rates of speed is much better sticking to the road. It is much safer for all path users.

We have a baby in a trailer and aren't that fast so we stick to the path, but it was amazing how many people were out there that weren't paying any sort of attention at all. For example, a woman riding her bike, no helmet, earbuds in with her head down.  She was trudging up a hill as we were coming down. I had to yell "Hello" several times before getting her attention. She finally saw us and was so startled. Really lady? Is this your personal path? Assume others will be out on a beautiful Sunday morning.

They totally did. It is human nature. ;)

    Yes

    It's a great path, isn't it?

As a runner, I was appreciative of the bikers using the road.  I also didn't notice any blind spots, but then again running is much slower.  I'm guilty of headphone use and "zoning out" while running.Embarrassed

  • Bikers on the road are a pet peeve of mind.  I know they have every right to be there, and I know that biking is great.  It's just a thing, I guess.  I get very road rage-y when bikers on the road inconvenience me and back up traffic.
