Good morning everyone!
I was really busy at work yesterday...hopefully I'll be able to post more today.
Re: Hump Day randoms
Jinx!
Haha! This is twice now. I'll change mine to QOTD.
Haha...oops! Funny.
I made chocolate cake last night. Duncan Hines cake is 100 times better than Pillsburry. It was good, but next time I'll buy Duncan Hines and spend the extra $0.20.
Nick thought it was interesting that I make cake in two layers (two smaller pans). He's only seen people make cake at home in a one layer 9x13 pan. Cake in two layers with frosting between the two is so much better!
I officially gave our daycare our two week notice on Monday. There are a lot of things about her that bother me, so I'm pretty excited about this.
The new daycare is also a LOT closer to our home (7 minute drive compared to 25 minute), and on the way to work (as opposed to driving past work and then having to backtrack). And $10/week cheaper. So I will get to sleep in for an extra 30 mins, save gas money and save $520/yr on daycare costs.
And we have friends in common and have hung out in the past. She's very sweet.
I called her when we first moved out to North Muskegon, but she didn't have any openings. We called her again this past weekend to check again, and she had one. Yay.
Yay for you!
Nice! I'm sure he'll love it and you'll benefit too. Hehe.
Speaking of day care....if you're comfortable sharing, how much do you pay weekly?
Our current plan is to have my mom do daycare for the same price as an outside daycare, but my mom will be at our house. She gave us a price on how much she would like to make every week, and I want to make sure it's comparable to other daycare. There is a bonus though, she said she would clean our house in addition to taking care of baby Wop. She'll be nanny/house keeper.
Good morning!
Goodgollie, neat that you're getting your DH a new grill! What a fun gift.
Wop, my husband was baffled the first time I made a layered cake too. His family doesn't do that and he was confused as to why someone would go to the extra trouble. Layered cakes are prettier though. Although, I suck at frosting the sides of a layered cake. So my botched frosting job kind of takes away from the prettiness.
Des&Molly, congrats on the new day care! Sounds like the new place will be perfect.
That's a super-sweet arrangment. I would be way more likely to have a child if I had someone to help out like that.
We will be paying $120/week. That includes breakfast, lunch and snacks. I like going to a licensed in-home daycare because I like to take advantage of the tax savings of my daycare/flex spending account (which saves me $1,250/yr) but for you it will be nice to have someone keep your house clean. That would be priceless to me! Lord knows I need all the help I can get when it comes to keeping up on my house.
Great Father's Day gift!
What are you getting/did you get your H/dad/grandpa (if you do) for Father's Day this year?
I got H a watch. I think I'm going to get my dad some tools. I have no idea what H is getting his dad, and on top of that I found out yesterday that we missed his birthday last Friday. H is 100% to blame for that.
I got my dad an audiobook -- Dreams From My Father.
B mentioned last night that he's thinking about getting his dad a Home Depot gift card.
I thought it was Wednesday
Is it your Friday?
We pay $146 per week at Spectrum's Daycare. DS is technically in the preschool room. Its more expensive the younger they are. When our new baby is born I will be using our old in-home daycare lady who charges $150 per week and switching to Spectrum's when he/she is 18 months old.
We got my Mom and Dad a plasma for their new condo as a joint birthday/Mother's Day/Father's Day gift, so I'm set for the year.
Opps I meant Wednesday!!!! Sorry....
Good Morning!
Yay for new grills and new day cares, boo for headaches.
I'm not sure what we're doing exactly for the Dad's yet. I know that Andy is brewing with his Dad Father's Day morning, and he wants to buy the grain and do a version of his Dad's favorite beer. Then we are having Father's Day BBQ at my bros house for my Pop. But I haven't decided on an actual "gift" yet. :-)
That is truly disgusting.
Agreed.
I'm hanging out with the grumpiest person in the whole world right now. Nap fairy, please work your magic on Henry in an hour or so.
Last night we had a picnic in Riverside Park, and then went for a walk at Briggs Park (2 parks because the above grumpster had an accident and we had to come home for a quick change). While walking on the boardwalk, we saw a deer grazing 8 feet away. It didn't leave. So cool. 2 curious kids and 2 very curious dogs didn't scare it away.
That is very cool. Sometimes when we walk to Lemery Park we see deer in the woods. They don't run away either.
How fun for your kids!
We had a deer lay down in our backyard a few weeks ago. It was just chilling. It was interesting to watch. I'v never seen one hunker down before in person.
Now that is awesome to see!
Kids, schmids: how fun for me!!
Neat about the backyard buddy. I think as we look at houses, I'm leaning toward a little more space with some wildlife.
