Re: Say Anything

  • I weighed myself this morning convinced I had already lost maybe a pound since I weighed Friday.  Instead I weighed 2 lbs. more.  I decided weighing myself is a bad idea.

    Sarah, yay for the workouts!

I am feelings the same way.  While I was working out the past few weeks, if I am being honest I wasnt pushing myself very hard so they werent hard.  Between stress and being sick I just couldnt get into it.  This week I vowed to really push myself and clean up my eating again and I feel wonderful.

I have been obsessed with the salsa chicken recipe I found about a month ago and make it at least once a week, it is easy, fairly heathy and so yummy.

Yes I really had to push myself to get back into my workouts again.  But now I'm just mad at myself for not doing them before because I obviously feel much better when I do them!  Now I just really need to work on the eating part of it :-/

    Salsa chicken sounds good!

I'm so jealous! I can't wait until we can get a new mattress. Ours isn't old, I just don't like it much.

    Crystal,

I have always believed that people that put that much emphasis on material things are making up for a lack of other things missing in their life. Whether it be in their relationship, or somewhere else.

I wholeheartedly believe that. Because I used to be that way. During my engagement with my Ex-FI I cared so much about the material things, including a huge ring. I was trying to compensate for the fact that my relationship sucked. I didn't realize then, but hindsight is 20-20. Once I found true happiness, and someone I was truly happy with, I can honestly say I could live in a box on the street with DH and still be happy. I don't need material things to be happy.

    My .02 about that.

Summer, I love that!!  I'm sorry you're going through that with your friend.  I think that you will be able to connect again when the timing is right maybe.  My best friend from high school moved to Victoria, Tx and we don't talk as often as we used to but we still find time to catch up here and there and we always make it to each other's important events.  The best kinds of friendships are the kind that you can go forever without talking and pick up right where you left off.  I hope it gets better!

While I do feel better having a routine, one thing I hate about working out is that I feel so confined to my chair and have a hard time staying put behind my desk all.day.long.  I will get a walk in during lunch but it's still hard.

What about getting an exercise ball to sit on? While it isn't the same as moving around, you are at least working your core muscles throughout the day.

  • I tried a new recipe last night for dinner and it was a let down.  I hate those nights.
  • Tiffany - Yay for the new bedroom set!!  I also hope that your dog gets better!

Sarah - I feel ya on the workouts.  Now that DH has his summer class/work scheduled figured out, we started getting back into the gym this week.  It's a pain to get up early (especially for him) but it feels good once we've done it.

Haha, I do, too.  I always tell DH - "Okay, I'm trying something new, but be prepared to order pizza."

    What was it?

  • Summer, I agree it is a hard thing to do sometimes.  I am in the same boat with 2 of the girls in my wedding.  1 of them is just in a completely different area in her life.  She is all about going out and getting drunk and hooking up with randoms.  The other one was recently married but she is also one of those that is very materalistic.  We just don't have much in common anymore.  We were best friends since 5th grade and everyone else says she has always been like this but I never saw it.  I really saw it when we were planning our weddings at the same time.  We say we are going to get together but it just never happens.  I still have her lingerie shower and bday gift wrapped in my closet on the off chance we do dinner some night.

I have an even harder time getting up early to do it.  So now I just do it when I get home from work, but I make myself start right away.  If I don't, I will get distracted by something else and not want to do it!

    What was it?

Bill refuses to use pizza (or anything else) as a back up.  One night, he made this squash into spaghetti by using some sort of shredder and then threw tomato sauce and Italian sausage on top.  He assured me it would be awesome.  It wasn't.  We didn't order pizza.

    Ugh!! Me too!!

I recently tried a recipe for pasta with avacado cream sauce...the point is that it is vegan, with no cream base. The avacado and some EVOO are supposed to give it a "cream like" texture... BLECK! I tried it twice and both times it was no good, but the website has good reviews on it...UGH whatever, I will just stick with my homemade alfredo sauce...that I know how to make and is DELICIOUS!!

This is us! When we made that pasta recipe...although it was gross...he stomached it down, I tried to eat as much as I could and was okay the first time. The second time we tried making it, I just threw it away and ate cereal for dinner haha

It is wonderful, I cant remember if I ever shared the recipe on here or not.

On the note of scales I own one but only weigh myself once or twice a month.  I used to weigh myself obsessively and it wasnt good.  I stepped on the other day and have gained 4 lbs since the wedding but I didnt need a scale to tell me that my skirts that were loose are not just right :(

    What was it?

It was called Creamy Mexican Casserole.  It was edible, but I think it needs some add-ins for more flavor.  Also, DH was in the kitchen talking with me while I cooked (this is rare) and I got distracted and forgot to add the cheese in.  We just melted it on top after and that wasn't (obviously) the best idea!

I use my clothes as a guide to how well I'm staying in shape. Or not staying in shape. Weight, IMO, is such an irrelevant number.

    LOL.

Yeah, I don't usually weigh but we have a scale up here since we're doing The Biggest Loser.  I was just so sure I looked a little better.  Oh well, I'm not too worried about it.

  • When did a Hummer become "compact"?  We have a parking garage at work and one side is for compact cars only.  Today there is a Hummer parked in there.  Not what I would consider a compact vehicle.  It makes me mad when trucks and SUVs park there too but a Hummer, really??

H2 or H3?  I have an H3 and it is pretty small.  H2 would be ridiculously too big for that spot.  Our parking garage at work is very tight and windy in the beginning but my car turns better than my mustang did!

I have no idea.  It was a little too hard (he admits that he might not have cooked it quite long enough).  My husband is quite adventurous and admits to eating almost everything/anything.  Last week, it was some slices of pork meat (like sandwiches), a slice of cheddar, and a tortilla.  Thankfully, I was sick and didn't have to eat that.  Of course, if I hadn't been sick, he wouldn't have been eating it either.

The H2.  And my Altima barely fits in the compact spots.  I don't ever park over there because of big cars that like to squeeze themselves in there and then can't get out.  I literally had to crawl into my car from the passenger side one day because the car next to me parked so close and they even put their side mirror in so they could fit.

That's WAY too big!  We have the same problem with the spots in our garage at work.  They need to make the spots a little bigger!

  • Speaking of parking, we just have a big parking lot in front of the building that everyone parks in.  There are some spots that they ended up painting lines over because people were parking there even though they weren't spots.  And there is this Mustang that is always parking there.  Why does he think he can park there when it's not even a spot?!
