    How fun for your kids!

We had a deer lay down in our backyard a few weeks ago.  It was just chilling.  It was interesting to watch.  I'v never seen one hunker down before in person.

Kids, schmids: how fun for me!! ;)

Neat about the backyard buddy.  I think as we look at houses, I'm leaning toward a little more space with some wildlife.

You won't regret it!  We have 1.5 acres...and of that only about .5 an acre of lawn that we must mow.  Everything else is forest.  The birds and deer are amazing.  It's not a ton of land, but it's landlocked by other lots of forest that will never be built on.  It's one of my favorite things about the house.

  • Would you say you have more mosquitoes that previous houses?  That and ticks are the only woods concern for me.

The wildlife will eat your gardens!  My mom battles the deer every year.  She claims that she has to teach each year's fawns not to eat her hastas by spraying them with stinky stuff (she has some special recipe that she mixes up).  She's pretty funny.

I love watching the deer in their backyard though.  Seeing the newborn fawn this year totally made my day.

  • I know, Kasa.  It's a tradeoff.  And there's fencing, I guess.

Every time I've seen a doe in the past month, I wish, wish, wish to see a fawn with it.  No dice yet.  Getting late.

My mom's garden battles are with squirrels.  Actually, one very plump squirrel.  Cracks me up.

We just saw a little one a few days ago on  trail by our house.  There's still time.  Hope you get to see on soon.

Yup, we have a lot of mosquitoes.  But I live by Lake Michigan, one block from Muskegon Lake, 3 blocks from Bear Lake, and my neighbors have a large pond in their yard.  So I'm sure it has a lot to do with the location of the land.  Water attracks mosquitoes, right?

There is still time.  I've seen 3 fawn in the past week or so.  One not so bright one standing in my back yard just bellowing for its Mama.

  • My Mom saw a fawn today as we were driving back from Rockford.

I'm trying to come up with the 4th of July menu right now and  am looking for 1 more appetizer but having no luck.

    Poor little guy!

  • 2/3 of this week's QOTD have me feeling bad about myself. Whoever gets here first tomorrow, ask a question that I can proudly show my parent the answer to, all right.  Big Smile

Mr. Grump is down for a nap.

2/3 of this week's QOTD have me feeling like I don't fit in with you on-time, un-made bed people.

Maybe I'll launch my own message board with like-minded individuals.

  • Does everyone on here have to work the friday before the 4th or not?

  • A picture of me wearing a hard hat was just emailed to my entire office.  Soooo... that's nice.  I'm getting a lot of comments about that.  They're just jealous, though, because I make a hard hat look HOT.  Stick out tongue

(I was at the building site for our new office, today.  The picture was one of several showing the progress of the site.)

Yes.  Our office is closed on the 4th only.

I have to work, but I'm not sure if it will be a full day.

  • I've enjoyed watching progress from the outside of the building.

And, I vote you post this photo.

And, the new board with punctual bed makers... Zip it!

I couldn't even reply,  LOL.  My strict upbringing made me feel too guilty to even admit that I don't make my bed.

I am fearful that my boss is going to insist on Facebooking it with the other construction photos.  Fan us, and you may see it.  Or maybe not.  She's likely to forget.

By the way, "punctual bed makers" is much better than "on-time, unmade bed people."

I fail at grammar.  I'll stick to surveying construction sights.

I made chocolate cake last night.  Duncan Hines cake is 100 times better than Pillsburry.  It was good, but next time I'll buy Duncan Hines and spend the extra $0.20.

Nick thought it was interesting that I make cake in two layers (two smaller pans).  He's only seen people make cake at home in a one layer 9x13 pan.  Cake in two layers with frosting between the two is so much better!

I might actually make my own b-day cake later this month and do a two layer cake. I haven't done that in ages. I am even going to use my mom's homemade frosting recipe. Yumm!!

Speaking of day care....if you're comfortable sharing, how much do you pay weekly?

Our current plan is to have my mom do daycare for the same price as an outside daycare, but my mom will be at our house.  She gave us a price on how much she would like to make every week, and I want to make sure it's comparable to other daycare.  There is a bonus though, she said she would clean our house in addition to taking care of baby Wop.  She'll be nanny/house keeper.

Not looking at the paper to be 100% sure, but I think my center is $180 a week. Home daycare you could probably find $120-$150.  That is awesome that you mom is doing it AND that she is going to come over to your house.

  • Hi all!

The kids are sleeping. I hope they sleep for two hours. Please!!!! I need a break. Allison told me she wasn't tired and didn't take a nap. I told her I was tired and NEEDED her to take a nap, so she had to take a nap. Later she told me that she wasn't tired and I was, so I can take a nap.

We went to GR twnshp park. The girls had to go to the bathroom and the bathrooms were closed due to remodeling. They had porta johns. Ick! I tried talking Allison into waiting, but she wouldn't.  Brian then tells me that Amelia had to go to. So I'm in with Allison and I hear Brian tell Mia that she has to wait for me to come out. Excuse me!!! Porta Johns are uni-sex bud! Get in there and take Mia. I get stuck with taking the girls to the restroom ALL...THE...TIME. Even at places like Target where they have family restrooms.

So I'm in with Allison and I hear Mia start sobbing and Brian go "Jesus Christ". I had visions of Mia falling in head first into the porta john. Luckily she 'only' got her finger pinched in the door. I felt bad for her, but was very grateful she didn't fall in.

Put up a bat house at the back of your property. Google  S t o v a ll  bat house (I don't want this to come up on Google so I spaced out the word). He sells them on Amazon, Sears, etc.

I know the guy that makes them and we sell them at my work. They are nicely made. He actually recommends putting up two back-to-back, because when the sun shifts and they get cold, they will move out of one and into the one next door.

  • My mom and I are going to Indy next weekend for a girls weekend. Yay!! I can't wait. THe only bad thing is that she has a torn tendon in her ankle. She has had problems for months and they finally did an MRI. All the doctors have been shocked that she has been able to walk on it this long and that she didn't fall or have any other kind of injury that caused it.

Several months ago she came down with gout. The pain was on the other side of the ankle. Then a month or two later she was in the store and she felt a searing pain go up her ankle and she barely made it out of the store. I'm thinking because of the pain from the gout she was walking funky and somehow torn her tendon?

She insists that we still go, so I am trying to find some things that won't require a lot of walking. I think we are going to go to the minor league baseball game on Sat night. We will also take plenty of snack/dessert breaks when we are at places so we can sit for a while.

  • Ok, last post before I log off. I have to put together a slide show for Brian's father's day present.

My MIL called this morning and asked "do you guys have plans this weekend.?"   me "ummm..yeah!! We are having you guys over on Sat, along with my parents, with a Father's Day BBQ." pause " Ohhhh, that's right. I forgot all about it."

Glad she called and we weren't sitting her waiting for them to show up.

Well....after doing some research, she may not be doing it anymore.  The amount she wants for it to be worth it to quit her job isn't looking good.  Right now we need all the help we can get to keep our budget in check.  Plus we found an opening with someone we know and trust who runs a licensed in home daycare, and we would pay her significantly less.  For the monthly savings I can clean my own house!

  • Wop, That might actually not be a bad thing. With having your mom do it, there is always that chance of awkardness of not liking how she is doing something or her not respecting how you do certain things.

This way you can sse g-ma for weekends. Big Smile
