Re: Hump Day randoms
You're probably right. Not that I don't trust my mom with our child, but this would avoid direct mother/daughter awkwardness if something does come up.
Exactly! She won't be burned out when you need a sitter for the weekend!
I've known some women who have used family for daycare, and there has been mixed results. This is a good thing, I think, Wop.
And.... he was supposed to wake up less grumpy. Bah.
This is a huge issue, and let me say HUGE, with my sisters and my mom. My mom watched all my nieces and nephews wheile my sisters worked. They never had to pay a dime for daycare, but yet, that was't enough for them. They would always want my mom to watch them on the weekends. When my sister was building a house, I swear those kids were there ever single weekend, while my sis and BIL went shopping or picked out stuff for the house. On the rare occasion my mom would say no, that she was tired, my sisters would get all pissy and compare how much she watched the other sisters kids.
I'm not saying you would do that, I just have to vent about my sisters.
Any moms out there deal with a MIL that didn't seem excited about having a grandchild?
My MIL doesn't at all seem excited. My mom tried talking to MIL about being a first-time grandma at my shower last weekend, and she didn't really seem to be interested in talking about it. I thought that was a bit strange. MIL used to talk all the time about wanting grandchildren before she died (she's a bit dramatic sometimes) and now that she is getting a grandchild, she doesn't seem to care. Maybe she's feeling old? Maybe she's upset that her son won't be as available with a baby? I don't know.
Watermelon!
Works as long as you don't have reflux, I don't think anything can help that.
Giggle. (I'm 99% certain you did that on purpose.)
Really?! I've never heard this. I'm totally going to try it. I have to stop by Meijer to get my vitamins anyway. Thanks!
I didn't.
This is what watermelon and pg talk does to me
Watermelon gave me wicked heartburn. My husband, the 'expert" on pregnancy heartburn told me that there is no way watermelon could cause heartburn because it is mainly water. I would have loved for my husband to be pg for one week. Had that been possible, I think the snip-snip would have been take care of two years ago like it was supposed to.
Ok, then Wop take note, obviously it doesn't work for everyone. I know milk is recommended a lot, and that made mine so much worse.
I had reflux too, so that could have been an issues. Basically towards the end, anything and everything cause heartburn/reflux, so don't go by me.
Awww..man that better not be thunder in the background I hear. Naptime will be coming to a quick end if a storm is coming.
MIL would often become very quiet and withdrawn when talking about my pregnancy and the baby coming. She was used to being the one in charge of everything, including my niece and nephew. With me it was going to be different and that was throwing her off. She of course was very happy about a new baby, but she was just unsure about how she would fit into the baby's life. Apparently, just being grandma never occurred to her.
This might be what your MIL is going through. A little scared at the unknown outcome of how her family will change with the growth of your family. Where will you spend holidays - will you still want to even celebrate with them? Or will you be on your own once the baby comes? If she is dramatic, these concerns could certainly be running through her mind.
It's nice to see you here!
My MIL did not care. Which normally wouldn't bother me, but it made my H upset, so therefore upset me.
She's not very involved in his life now either which annoys me, but whatever. She spends all of her free time with her other 3 grandkids. It's her loss! At least T has my mom who is SUPER involved and loves him to absolute pieces.
Don't apologize! I feel like I have a ton to catch up on so the more posts, the better!
Yay! That is a relief, I'm sure.
Seriously! Don't apologize. I love the conversation of randoms. I wish it was like this everyday! I know not everyone loves a big random post, but I really enjoy it.
Me too!
