How's everybody doing? It's been so slow here. I'm hoping people are on vacation.

Yep, I've got a stubborn one here, my c/s is scheduled for 9:30am.

Ah crap. I'm sorry to hear it but I'm sure you'll do great and be back on your feet in no time at all.
I'm going to offer a few nuggets from my recent experience. I hope they're helpful. I wish someone had said these things to me.
1. I didn't get to see the baby much before they whisked her to the nursery. I also missed her first bath and her weigh in and measurements. Fortunately Big Lar went with her and recorded it on video and took pix and showed me later. However, I'm still sad I didn't get to see that stuff live. I wish I had gotten a few more minutes with her. She was perfectly healthy so there was no need to take her away so fast, IMO. So, if you can, ask that they 1. let your baby stay with you for a little bit and 2. hold off on measuring/bathing if they can so you can see it.
2. Speaking of Big Lar going with the baby, I was left all alone in the OR. Well, all alone with like 15 people hustling and bustling around me, working on me and taking care of me. I was terrified, however, and was asking any random person to hold my hand. It makes me tear up thinking about it. I was so scared! So, if you can, have an extra family member there or ask if a nurse can come in just to be with you and comfort you while your guy goes with the baby.
3. Don't be afraid to limit your guests/set boundaries on people holding the baby. We limited guests to only family, which was great, but I felt like every time I was handed the baby it was because she was screaming and hungry. Everyone else got to hold her when she was sleepy and calm and sweet.
4. Let people take care of YOU. Your job is to recover and, if you plan on nursing, to feed the baby. You'll bounce back faster if you take.it.easy. Having help with laundry, cooking, walking the dog, etc was really wonderful and gave me time to bond with the baby.
Good luck. This is so exciting!
I'm still attempting to get used to having GD and anticipate being put on insulin at my MFM check up this Friday. It's not the ideal situation, but I will do whatever I have to in order to keep this little man and myself safe.
Other than that, I'm feeling great. People aren't kidding when they say the 2nd tri is the best. Other than not being able to get a completely uninterrupted night's sleep, thanks to what feels like a teeny, tiny bladder and getting winded pretty easily, I almost feel like my pre-preggo self.
We're battling the monster that is baby registries. Any advice or words of wisdom are appreciated.
Finally accepted that I can not longer fit into my pre pregnancy clothes and put them all away-- whomp whomp.
I am feeling really good. I don't know if I told you ladies or not, but about two weeks ago I spend some time in the hospital for kidney stones. Holy mother, worst pain EVER. I finally passed all the stones on June 7th and I finally feel like my old self again.
Jess, I agree-- second tri is the best. I have so much energy and I am 100% in nesting mode. Every room in our house is under construction right now, but we are slowly getting ourselves in order. Mommacita is taking me out to dinner tonight, so while I am gone JEGs is tearing out the plaster in the baby's closet and replacing it with drywall. As soon as he is done that, i can start painting the little monster's room!
Ugh, registry. I wish I could pay someone to do it for me. I have been 100% dragging my feet on this. Where did everyone register at (besides BRU?) Is Target a good idea?
Preggo Lesson of the Week: Never watch Rachel Ray while pregnant. I am now craving 6 different foods.
I'm almost 23 weeks and feeling pretty good. I'm more tired this time around, but I bet it's because I have 2 other little ones to chase after. Baby is measuring right on time and is nice and healthy. I still go for my monthly ultrasounds, that will probably increase to biweekly when I hit 3rd tri or 30 weeks. I had one today and baby is weighing approx. 1pound 4 ounces and my cervix is long and closed, which is a good thing. I am on week 5 of my weekly progesterone shots. I get them every Sunday right in the ass and it hurts. Here's hoping they work!!
We are still not finding out the gender and it's actually been pretty easy resisting when I am getting my u/s's. I just make sure I tell the tech about 20 times and look away when I see legs! LOL
I am not looking forward to my 1 hour glucose test that will probably go down next month. I failed the 1 hour with Bella and had to do the 3 hour which sucked big time, but like Jess said, whatever I have to do to keep the baby in there and healthy, is what I'll do.
I would also like to pay someone to do this for me. But fwiw, Target was a mother effing nightmare for my wedding registry. I had two of the most simple returns that turned into a 2 month battle with them and ended with me buying one of the products and returning the damaged one because they were jackholes.
We picked Buy Buy Baby as our 2nd registry. The only one near is in Cherry Hill, but we went on Saturday and knocked a lot of stuff out.
LD - thanks for the tips. Fortunately and unfortunately it will just be dh and I; family isn't coming out until after we are home. I'm already terrified of a c/s and have thought about being there alone when dh goes with the baby - I'll have him find a nurse to be with me. My SIL missed the bath/measurements/etc with her c/s too, so I'll see what I can do.
I will have the help/support at home for a couple weeks and there will only be a couple friends that show up to the hospital so most of the time it will just be dh and baby.

Jess, I had GD when I was pregnant. If you ever have any questions or just want to *** (I had those days), I'm all ears
On my 4th baby and I still learn something new! I have never gotten to see any of the babies bathed. Bella went right to the NICU, but even with Andrew and Chase being ok, I didn't get to see them get their first bath. I didn't know that was an option. I just thought it kind of happened. They took the baby away, did the measurements, etc, cleaned it up, then brought it back to me smelling good and cute with no goo
)
We're open to name suggestions. LOL With Drew we named/finalized it on the way to the hospital at 37 weeks for a labor scare. (yea I peed my pants...not a water breakage like I thought)
Amer did you find out what you're having?
I'm 20 weeks today. Amen to second tri being better but now I feel so much better than I'm freaking out a little inside that maybe there's no fetus in there anymore.
I'm still teaching spin 3 mornings a week but the pressure on top of my bladder isn't there when I sit on the bike now. And I feel like my stomach isn't that big (which I'm ok with on one hand - by some miracle I'm not in maternity clothes today at work). However, I still fall asleep around 8 pm and wake up a zillion times to pee.
Tomorrow is our big u/s and we'll find out girl or boy. I'd gained 9 lbs at 16 weeks and I'm dreading the weigh-in tomorrow as I haven't been on the scale in a month.
Our house is in no way even remotely ready for this life change and I'm pretty sure I don't have the nesting gene in my DNA.
Recently, I am craving any food with fat. All the time.
This is exactly how I'm feeling right now (at 15 weeks). Sometimes I almost forget I'm pregnant except for my expanding waistline and the million bathroom breaks. I actually had my monthly appointment this morning and all is well with BabyD. The only thing they commented on was my weight loss, but I'm not concerned because I've been eating like it's my job.
Jess - do you have a pregnant or recently pregnant friend that can help with your registry? I am so grateful that my friend is going to go with me to tell me what I really need. And Mr.D is super happy that he doesn't have to go.

Weight loss??
There is no way Mr.JRM would leave me to own devices to register.
I do have friends that have offered to go with me. I'm just totally procrastinating. It's incredibly overwhelming! I try to do a little bit online each day but the last few days I've been slacking.
Oh and re: names. Baby will be Vincent Michael, Jr.
Yup! We are having a little dude. Our middle name is Filmore because, and I kid you not, JEGs' grandfathers name was Millard Filmore Hamer. He wanted to honor his PopPop, and I said I would do Filmore, but not Millard.
First name contenders at this moment are: Maximus, Logan and Hunter. I also love Elijah, and he likes Cole, but we can't agree on those names.
Cute names! We have a mn, but no first. MN is Gerard (pronounced Jared it's FIL's name) Of the three I think I like Maximus best but I'm a person who likes names that can have nicknames.
I LOVE Elijah but DH doesn't like any name but John or Thomas.........
I think girl names are easier to pick (last time we had picked a girls name because we were team green) but that's probably because we're having boys. LOL
Such pressure naming a person forever!

I'm doing good. Will be 35 weeks on Sat- so I'm in the home stretch! Had my appt this morning-everything looks good- baby is head down, measuring on schedule. Can't believe how fast this is going!!
My metabolism missed the memo on this one. I dragged myself to the gym 6 days a week, 3 of which I was teaching spin...
I have NO IDEA how you found the energy.
