Re: UO Thursday!
I don't get the media's obsession with Pippa, either. I mean, she's pretty and all, but I don't really need to know that she did some 50-mile run or that she MIGHT be dating Prince Harry. It's become a little much since the wedding.
I really, really do not like summer. I've never been a fan of summer - I'd much rather see fall. A tragedy, I know.
Yes. I loathe summertime. I hate being hot, and I *hate* humidity. If I had my way, it'd alternate between fall and winter all year. I also prefer an overcast/rainy day to a sunny day.
Another UO... the term "DH" bothers me. It sounds cheesy, and I can't bring myself to use the "D," even though my husband is "dear" to me, or whatever. Anytime I start to type it, I have to leave it at just "H," b/c the thought of saying "Dear husband and I ..." weirds me out. I know I'm strange.
Ditto for DS, DD, and all other mutations thereof.
While the Pippa obsession is ridiculous, I think the name Pippa is super cute (I know it's her nickname, but still). I like it so much that I've mentioned it to the husband and he likes it a lot, which shocked me. So, there is another name for our Phantom Babies' Names List.
I am also in the camp of not liking summer. I hate it. I dread it. I want 70-70 degrees all year long.
This isn't an UO - more of a (lame) confession: I'm reading Smokin' Seventeen (Stephanie Plum) and I have decided that I get entirely too wrapped up in one of the characters (Ranger). ::sigh::
I really can not stand to listen to any information regarding the Casey Anthony trial. I think it's mainly because M is at the age that Caylee was and it just breaks my heart. Looking at Casey Anythony just makes me sick to my stomach.
ETA: Really sure this is not an UO more of a confession.
I literally thought the same exact thing and decided to wait to post it until tomorrow. :P
I usually almost always use just H. I think of something else when I see DH that he would probably not like to be called. I always think South Dakota when I see SD.
You'll know you need to step away from The Nest for a couple of days when you accidentally call him that in real life. I may have called my husband "DH" once. That required a bit of explaining given that he didn't even realize that I posted on The Nest.
I actually used the initials. That's the day I had to fess up about my Nest addiction
Then I'm going to need you to go ahead and read 17, mmk? Because I need to talk about it... especially if it's with someone who loves Ranger as much as I do. I mean... YUM. I had to make myself put the book down earlier - I'm a little over halfway done - just so I could make myself do some housework before H gets home.
Not until it comes out in paperback........Man, did her and that Italian Stallion break up again? I can't remember the last book (and I read it a good two months ago).
I love the Maury show.... Because it makes me laugh!
BTW, I totally realize that daytime TV is starting to rot my brain. There are just so many things I can do with B.... I took her to the zoo last week and everyone looked at me like I was crazy.
I haven't slipped up and referred to my husband as DH- yet- but I've definitely caught myself thinking that and had to make a conscious effort not to say it out loud. I agree that I would never call him dear, except if I was being facetious.
But the D in DH doesn't always have to stand for dear...
Electing a dentist because she had an R. Enrolling your child in a sports camp and then complaining because the star won't be there to sign autographs. How about enrolling him to build his skillset?
ETA:Apparently my h button on my phone doesn't work today. Edited to make his not is.
I'm curious, and not trying to provoke anything here. But, what do you think Paddack would have done by now? I honestly wish that the Superintendent position was not party-based.
Also--is there some kind of news story on the sports camp thing that I'm missing? I would be interested in knowing more about that. Do you think that sports camps have no place, or should all children be enrolled only in "skill" camps like math camp?
I can't remember the last book, either. But, they're in the open relationship thing at the beginning of this one. I just finished it, and I have to say that it's probably one of the top 5 (for me) in the series. I know the reason for that, but I don't want to give too much away.
I wouldn't have paid hardcover price for it, but it was $9.00 on my Nook. Also, there is an ad in the back of the book that says 18 is coming out in November! Two books in less than a year - that's what I'm talking about!
If you hate your job, go to work always looking like someone is holding you at knife-point while there, and basically bite someone's head off anytime they ask you to do something that is within your job duties... get a new job!!! (sorry for the run on sentence!).
Yes, I'm thinking about a certain CNA I work with. I give those CNA's credit daily. They have a crappy job (pardon the pun), and I couldn't do it, but if you are that miserable, please get another job!
I don't know what Paddack would have done by now my silly USB time machine isn't working. Hoping to get a USB crystal ball soon, so I'll let you know when it comes in the mail.
I wish the position had to be someone who has been in education and knows cutting the state education budget by $218 million, cutting teacher bonuses by $12 million, cutting Reading sufficiency by 1.4 million, dismantling the NBCT program, not funding AP, cutting all professional development programs that help teachers improve reading instruction, teacher evaluations based on student test score performance, no funding for textbooks, no funding for library media specialists, is not the way to go. Unless the goal is to run education into the ground so we can privatize education, then we are on the right path!
This lady from Seattle enrolled her son in Adrian Peterson's (sp?) football camp and is now buthurt that he won't be there. The only reason she wanted him to go to football camp was to get Peterson's autograph not learn to throw better, tackle, learn trick plays whatever the heck football camp teaches you. I just think that's stupid. I think if you are going to enroll in a skill and drill camp you should do so because you want to gain that skill set not an autograph.
Unfortunately, I think that regardless of who is in the position, cuts were still going to be made in our area, as they have been cutting year, after year...after year. It's really disheartening.
As for the camp, I hadn't heard about that. I have to agree that enrolling a kid in a camp to get an autograph is definitely the wrong reason. Perhaps she just wanted to sell the autograph for money.
