B&M Monday

I'm starting early today.

DH left this morning on a business trip and will be gone until Thursday evening. It's perfect timing because I have a test on Thursday and without him here, I don't have any distractions so I can focus on studying 100%. I won't have the temptation of wanting to spend time with him when he gets off work.

And nobody to pick up after...Stick out tongue

However, on the other hand, I'm really going to miss him! This is going to sound really stupid to those of you whose DH's work out of town on a permanent basis, or travel a lot, but DH rarely travels for work and this is probably the most time we have spent apart since we started dating several years ago. So, this is definitely going to be hard for me. I know, it sounds stupid because he's only going to be gone 4 days.

Re: B&M Monday

  • My H also just left on a business trip ... his second in three weeks!

When we were engaged, I would get sad right before he left ... even though I should've been used to his absence since we were entirely long-distance while dating. But I think that was my problem ... I could still clearly remember missing him for months at a time, so it was hard for me to let him go.

I did think it was funny that he woke me to kiss me and said "see you tonight" (our standard goodbye) and I had to be like ... "wait, see you when?"

  • Summer,

I completely understand where you are coming from Matt and I were never apart and then I had to travel to Guatemala for 5 weeks on business.  We were on Aim and Skype every night and my director at the time thought it was funny because she would check in with her husband every other day for 5 min.  It was really hard and most people didnt get it.

Regarding my Monday I have no complaints.

This exactly!  Matt and I were long distance but I remember everytime I stood in an airport either walking away from him or watching him walk away from me with tears in my eyes.  I remember the heart breaking feeling so vividly that I burst into tears when he saw me off for my business trip and all I could think of was those times when we went months without seeing eachother.  I always joke that we already spent enough time apart for a lifetime that we shouldnt have to do it again.

  • Aw you guys are making me feel better!

And BL, I couldn't imagine only talking to H every other day for 5 minutes!

  • I went to NKTOB/BSB last night and it was a freakin' blast.  Let's just say... they still got it.

    I am draaaaaging today though.

  • Glad you had fun Brianna!

I would say everyone else is dragging too. Where is everybody??

  • Oh, and as a side note, I've become obsessed with SlimFast lately for breakfast.

I used to just eat a banana every morning, and maybe some eggs if I had time. But we had bought these chocolate slim fast shakes when we were in Houston when I got sick and didn't have an appetite and I never drank them. I tried one the other day when I was running late because I knew I needed something and didn't have time to eat, and it was good!

So I've started drinking them almost every morning. I guess I always expected them to taste bad. They actually do fill me up and I feel satisfied for most of the morning.

Random, and unimportant. But I thought I'd share.

  • So, Slimfast isn't chalky or anything?
  • My work computer was being insane this morning, so I would have been here half an hour ago if it wasn't for that.

DH travels all the time, so we are kind of used to being apart. It was hard in the beginning so I definitely understand Summer.

BL - How was C25k this morning? DH was dead after the first workout, haha!

Not a lot to BM about today...We went to shoot skeet yesterday and I have a nasty looking bruise on my upper armpit area. I always get them but feel like a baby wearing the arm pad, so it's my own fault. DH and I were already going and three of the neighbor husbands asked to tag along. I don't understand the neighbor wives giving me stink eyes last night - it's not like I invited them or went with them alone. Get over yourselves.

So, Slimfast isn't chalky or anything?

I find the cans a little chalky but the powder you make in the blender with milk is seriously delicious. If it didn't have aspartame in it I would still be on the bandwagon.

  • I had a blast at the Jersey Shore this weekend, but 3.5 hours in a plane, then 5.5 hours in a car both ways really did a number on my legs.

So, Slimfast isn't chalky or anything?

I personally don't find it chalky. But, that's just me. I make sure to spend about 3 minutes shaking it up really, really well though.

ETA: Leslie, I just read the label on my can-no aspartame....Confused

I lied, it has sucralose. Which is what they make Splenda out of.

  • Leslie, its going good, I was a sweaty beast and I am seriously missing my HR monitor.  Back in Omaha when I was running/jogging for 30 min straight I was burning 450-550 calories because my HR gets high and I would really like to know what its like now and what it will be when I hit the 30 again.
  • I'm here... finally feeling normal again.  Somehow, I caught DH's cold, but it was WAY worse for me than for him.  Both the symptoms and duration were worse.  So maybe I caught it somewhere else, but I didn't know anyone else who was sick before me... who know.  I still have an awful cough though - thank goodness they make cough meds in pill form!

Even though I was sick for the last several days, it was really nice to get to spend some QT with James now that he's home.  Summer, I totally understand how ya feel - it doesn't matter if it's a few days or a few weeks or more - it still sucks, every time!  You should be alright since you have your studying to keep you busy.  Also, try to find things you wouldn't do if your H was home - lounge around in cruddy clothes, make yourself something he doesn't like for dinner, that kind of thing.  It helps kind of trick yourself into thinking you're getting some good alone time :)

haha! I lounge around in cruddy clothes when he's home! I passed that "I need to look cute for you all the time" stage with H a long time ago.

But I get what you're saying, and I definitely will. Probably what I'm looking forward to most is not having anyone else to pick up after, or anyone else's dishes to wash but my own, etc. Oh, and not having to wear ear plugs at night! That's going to be amazing.

Hahaha me too... but I was hoping I wasn't the only one :)

Also, to those who went, how was Book Club?  I was so disappointed to miss it!

Glad to hear that! My heart rate gets super high when I run too, so I enjoy burning a bunch of calories. That's one of my fears for prego-running though - how high is too high?

I thought of you when I saw this: Link  She has a lulumon tank and a costco tank and is going to compare them.

Summer - I knew it had some sort of artificial sweetener. I was bummed when I saw that as it was just so damn tasty.

One of the blogs I follow fitnessista.com is about 14 weeks pregnant and she back off her exercise some and got a heart rate monitor to make sure she is not going too high so I am sure that once pregnant that is something your Dr should advise you on.

Back when I did c25k when I was 50 pounds heavier I would get shin splints so bad but so far this time so good, I am happy.

I will have to bookmark that thread and check back to see because I am curious.  Dont get me wrong I love my Nike and Champion workout gear I just heard that Lulu is even better.  If I ever did fit in it and bought it they would be reserved for special things, like races, or longer workout days where comfort is a must.

  • Book Club was fun!   I would also like to add that, going forward, unless there is a champagne explosion then it is not a book club party.  ;-)
  • I'm here and dragging - for no apparent reason.  I think I went to bed at around 10:15.  So, yeah, no apparent reason.

Brianna - So glad you had a great time.

My best friend from college is coming to town tomorrow and staying until Friday morning.  I'm taking the next three days off of work.  I can't wait to hang out with her.  :)  I haven't seen her since my wedding.

Ain't no party like a book club party, cuz a book club party don't stop...

  • Brianna & Lauren - so glad y'all had a blast! I'm off to youtube NKOTB & BSB now.

I'm dragging today too, had entirely too much on my mind to sleep last night. :(

I have an appointment on Thursday and she thinks I am just coming in to discuss my cycle. She doesn't know she is also going to tell the DFW Nest board what is the official OB/GYN sanctioned word on exercising while pregnant. I have like 20 questions about things that I need her to answer for me. :)

  • Lacey- yay for best friends coming in town Smile. That's always exciting. I wish I got the opportunity to see mine more often.

Leslie- I know they generally say to try and stay away from artificial sweeteners in heavy doses throughout your diet, but is there a specific reason you avoid them all together?

  • I was notified last night by the Denton Police that there have been robberies in in surrounding areas. So I heard every noise last night and my big dog Maeson (big as in size and age she is my oldest furchild) was barking alot last night. Which is not normal for her. I moved my bat from my old softball bag in the top of my closet to under my bed.

That reminds me, I was notified via email last night that there was a shooting near the UTA campus.

Have I mentioned how much I dislike Arlington lately? Ugh. Should have gone to TWU.

  • For the 4th week in a row we were asked about kids by 4 different people at church and we've only been going for 4-5 weeks.  "You need to get on it."  No I am not interested in a TTC buddy.

This is going to sound horrible but DH is now considering taking a class in Dallas with this couple from church that would occupy the other half of our weekend.  If he did that, our entire weekend will be booked and no down time whatsoever the entire week.  I'm not liking this.

  • imageSummerof09:

Leslie- I know they generally say to try and stay away from artificial sweeteners in heavy doses throughout your diet, but is there a specific reason you avoid them all together?

    Various and sundry reasons really:

#1 - I don't like the way they taste generally. I can't do diet drinks, sugar free jello, sugar free yogurt, etc. due to the aftertaste.

#2 - Probably unfounded but a small part of me thinks they are carcinogens.

    #3 - They aren't TTC friendly.

#4 - I have been working hard to rid my diet of processed foods. I try to eat things that I have cooked and like to eat things that I know 100% what each ingredient is without having to ask Google. This is not always possible and I do have a serious, serious love affair with Lean Pockets, but artificial sweetener doesn't jive well with this goal.

Honestly I would much rather just suck it up and use some real sugar/work out more than use the processed stuff. This goes for low-fat things too - I don't do light or reduced fat anything if I don't recognize something on the label. Same with HFCS - I miss that stuff more than anything in life right now. I want to suck down a Dr. Pepper so bad some days but I will not let myself. I have heavily considered buying some of the cane sugar Dr Peppers but feel like that might be a slippery slope leading back to chunky-town.

All that being said - I don't hate on others who don't feel the same. I tend not to mention it here or anywhere else because if someone wants to eat/drink something that is 100% their choice. I only mentioned it today because Slim Fast Chocolate Royale = one of the yummiest drinks I have ever had for breakfast and I miss it. :)

  • I'm in San Antonio for a training class this week. DH and I were walking around the riverwalk last night. He stepped On my flip flop and it somehow bruised the round part of my foot that sticks out (on the Inside of my foot). Hurts like hell and I work cute Jessica Simpson heels that are KILLING my foot
