I *think* I have my final semester schedule figured out. 3 LE electives, 1 humanities, 1 math. If the academic adviser gives me the go ahead next Wednesday, I will be taking 17 credit hours and done(with my AAS) next semester. What am I getting into? 17 hours + full time work = no races, no social life and well, no life really. But I'm SO close.

Would you do it? Cram it all into one semester or spread it out over two?

I was a full time student and had an 18 credit semester.  It was the most hellacious semester of my life.  I couldn't imagine doing it while working.  I forgot it was Christmas, until Christmas eve.  That was the year everyone got cards with money in them from SF.  lol.

If it were me, I wouldn't cram it all in.  Is taking a summer class now or next summer an option?

Do you have any idea of what the workload for each course would be?  If they are just going to be the type of class with a few papers due at each month, or just a midterm and a final exam, then I would say do it.  But if they are ones that have regular weekly assignments, papers, and several exams throughout the semester I would probably rethink it.

I did one semester of 21 credits during undergrad, and one semester of 15 credits in grad school.  It wasn't bad because the class loads weren't too bad.  But then I've had semesters of just the standard credits that were brutal.

I should have taken some this semester but I needed a break. The lucky thing is that my job is super understanding and willing to work with my schedule and do homework when we're not busy but I'm at the office. I really think I could do it as long as I stay motivated/focused.

The 3 LE electives shouldn't be bad. I've had two out of the three professors before and both know what I do and that my job is crazy. They should have easy work loads. The math, well, I'm not sure but I have an awesome friend willing to help tutor me b/c she's a math whiz. The humanities(women and creativity) is probably a lot of papers but I've had that professor before and she's super helpful/understanding with e-mailing papers and such. Plus writing is easy for me. I think I can do it. I really do. I'm just scared.

That's cool.  If you feel like you can handle it and swing it financially, you should go for it.  I got through it ok but OMG never again.  lol.

Personally, I would say go for it then.  You sound like you have it worked out with work and know the professors, and could handle it.  What's the worst thing that happens?  You get all of your syllabi the first week and realize it's too much and drop a class or two?

I busted my butt to get my Masters done within a year because I was just so sick of being in school.  And as tough as some of it was while also working full time, I was so ecstatic to finish and just be done with school.  So many people I went to undergrad with are only doing a few classes at a time and still in the program, and I've been told many times they wish they just did what I did.  If you're ambitious enough to do it and get it over with, then I would go for it.

  • I'm here, just watched 16 & Pregnant Finale wrap-up. Things are about to get busy here. Fourth of July weekend will be nice, but then my ILs will be arriving to be here to celebrate G's birthday. I'm still not sure what we are going to do, but it will be low key. He'll be two--anything big and fancy would go right over his head. We will have cake though!!!

BLT, I'm certain that you are going to be the office hero tomorrow with your crockpot!

AFEOD--you have to be medically cleared, from a base that does not have enough doctors, to move back to the States, where you'll have better access to care??? WTH? Feel better.

Afton, take extra good care of yourself. Anniversaries are tough. Thinking of you and your family.

I'm here. We are making dinner and I'm feeling sorry for myself. Our office has been really slow and the doctor is considering cutting back hours. I'm freaking out. I need the hours. She asked for someone to take tomorrow morning off  because we aren't seeing patients and because its the anni of my Mom's death I said I would do it.  As much as I need the hours I need a break tomorrow.

And I'm applying for a job in my field and if I get it we would be able to start saving a lot more and to have a baby sooner! Fingers crossed I get it!

The only thing keeps me from being depressed about LO growing up is that each new/next stage of development is more fun than the last. Perhaps it's a bit TMI, but one of the cute thing he does is if DH or I fart around him, he comes up to the offender, lifts their shirt and rubs their belly. I have NO idea where he picked this up, but it is adorable and makes me *want* to fart around him! LOL! How old is Dru now? I imagine he's a lot of fun!

I did two semesters in a row with an 18 credit load. Granted, I was not working, but I found it much easier than my lower credit semesters. I didn't have time to procrastinate. Everything was very scheduled and organized and I had a very clear routine. Those two semesters were two of my highest GPA semesters my whole college career.

If you can, take some online filler classes. It lightens your work load while giving you your credits.

Can you get credits for work experience?

I loathe online classes. I do have one that I may take online if my schedule doesn't work. I need the accountability of going to class physically for some reason.

I received credits for my military experience, which is why I'm almost done so quickly. I'm going to talk to the department head though since my current job is along the same line as an internship(we get interns from my school, we've had 3 since I've worked there) and hopefully that will give me more than I need.
