Re: Grandparent Names
My parents: Mimi and Pawpaw
DH's parents: Nana and Poppy
Dx: PCOS and short luteal phase
18 cycles (3 with our RE) - Metformin + Clomid + HCG booster did the trick!
BFP #1 6/22/09 EDD: 3/2/10 DS born: 3/8/10
TTC #2 since Dec 2011
BFP #2 7/8/12 EDD: 3/18/12 M/C @ 9w1d: 8/16/12
Mimi and Pop-pop are my parents.
MIL is Nana.
My mom wanted to be Grandmommy, which is what I called my grandma when I was little, but when she tried to get E to say it at 15mo, it came out as Mimi. And she tried some more to get E to say grandmommy and E got mad and shook her finger at my mom and said "MIMI! MIMI! MIMI!" and my mom laughed and gave in.
My MIL was Grandma Nancy to SS, her first and only grandson for 11 years. But that's so formal and weird I just couldn't do it. So I conspired with my BIL to get their son (6mo older than E) to call her Nana and E did it too. It's just so much easier to say for a little bitty one.
My Mom & Dad: Ganny & PaPa (PawPaw)
DH's Mom: Nana
DH's Dad & Step-mom: PaPa (they are said differently, this one is more PaPah, the this is only because that is what stepmil has insisted upon) & Ma (which irritates the crap out of me but she insists on it. Long story short, oldest DS was hollering for me and she thought he was calling her Ma after waiting because she wanted the grandkids to give her a name she thought the 18 month old had now designated her Ma.)
my parents: Mimi & Poobah
ILs: Grammy & PawPaw
In-Laws: JJ and PPops
My mom: Nanna
My Dad: He is being stubborn and just wants to be called by his name or whatever everyone else calls him so as of right now he is Grandpa Chuy to us.
We've got a long list here:
My dad - Papaw
My step-mom - Marme (she's a retired English teacher and Marme is what the mom in Little Women is called)
My mom - Gigi
My step-dad - my daughter don't even know he exists
My father-in-law - GranMan
My step-mother-in-law - BelleMere (french for something or other)
My mother-in-law - Bebe although she keeps trying out "grandmommy" and I hellztotheno to that
j+k+m+e | running with needles
My mom: Nanmom (her name is Nancy, but Charlotte totally came up with this on her own).
My dad: Char knew him for almost her entire life when he passed, so she called him Gampaw.
MIL: Nanmaw (pronounced more like "Namma") Debbie (sometimes Gramma Debbie)
Step-FIL: Gampaw Pat, but my nephew calls him Pop Pop, and sometimes Char does, too
FIL: Papa D
FIL also has a wife, but they live in Colorado and although Charlotte has seen FIL quite a few times when he comes to visit, she's never met his wife. So we don't have a name for her.
My mom: Noni
Dad: Grandpa Jerry
Stepmom: Grandma Theresa (but I just call her Theresa to Evan)
ILs: Grandma and Grandpa
My Grandpa: Super PaPa
My Parents: Grammy & Grampy
His Parents: Nonnie & Granddad
My mom is Granny, my dad was Pap (Pappy when my neice was being cute). They chose these because it's what we called my Dad's parents... who were both deceased at the time the first grandchild was born.
My kids have Grandma & Grandpa (DH's parents) and Grandpa (their mom's dad). They see them so infrequently that referring to them as the same name isn't an issue.
I have Nana (sounds like Donna, not banana!) and Popo.
My great grandma was Busia (BOO-shaw), which came from the first grandkid's pronunciation of the polish word for grandma.
my photography blog
My Mom - Granny
IL's - Grandma & Grandpa
Crazy Christmas Kids!
My mom and dad are Nani and Papi to my nephew and his grandparents on his dads side are Nana and Papa
Our future spawn, whenever that may be will also refer my parents as Nani and Papi, not sure about my husbands parents
I want to know how these are pronounced!
