CA closing arguments

The good thing about being on bed rest this weekend is that I can finally watch the CA case! Anyone else watching closing arguments?

Re: CA closing arguments

  • I'm watching.

Casey is toast I believe... I don't mean death. but she is def guilty.

It's interesting to hear Ashton put it all together. It's difficult to remember all the lies, and dates- but it's interesting to hear the various lies Casey told on the same days to different people.. She is definitely smart. I couldn't have kept all that straight for sure.

  • I think the best part of this whole thing is the closing argument. Wraps it all up.

As Casey has said herself, she's a good liar.

I doubt she'll get death but I hope they lock her up for a long long time.

  • It is completely unbelievable that she could throw her daughter in the swamp.

    I mean, I believe it.. I guess it's incomprehensible.

Jena I knew you'd be watching :)  It is interesting to see how Ashton is putting it all together, there was so much that happened during that time.

I want to throat punch her every time I see her crying!

    Exactly!

  • I actually forgot it was on today, but thanks to Twitter I was able to run to dunkin donuts and get back before it started, (ha ha).

I'm downloading music and making a CD for my BFF who moved to Key West. She is coming over tonight and I'm making a little bag of all the things that remind me of our friendship..

I'll be planted on the couch till this is over...

I heard yesterday that the State's closing arguments were going to take all day. guess not.

Yah, I can't stand to see her shake her head. She has shown little to no emotion through out this entire trial. Yah, she cried a few times- but she's never shaken her head before.. Now, in closing arguments you want to? Scared. much?

Me too! Those crocodile tears piss me off!

I love how he called the defense's story 'the rabbit hole.' It's so true, Casey has lived in an alternate universe.

Even if she were to get off free and clear, she'll always be known as that woman who killed her kid, then went out and partied and lied her asss off. Who will want anything to do with her?

She must be thinking "crap, I'm in trouble" and that's what the tears are about, they're not for Caylee!

I am so curious to see what Baez has to say especially since they can't say anything about sexual abuse.

  • Agreed, the rabbit hole comment was a great analogy. She was definitely in another world. It is seriously so bizarre that she could keep everything straight and remember "Where she was with who & when." ...

    It's really pretty tragic.

It's interesting that they aren't allowed to talk about the abuse allegations since there was no evidence entered into the trial.

I heard a few days ago on HLN that she wouldn't testify so that IF there is another trial wth another theory she could testify and wouldn't be contradicting herself (or something like that)... I don't see how they could possibly come up with another theory.

I really liked what Ashton said about GA.. In regards to finding her drown and doing nothing- why would he do that? He loved Caylee.. and then he said that he buried his pets, but then he threw Caylee in the swamp.

    Good points.

  • on HLN yesterday or Friday they were saying that Baez was the worst defense attorney they've ever seen..

I can't wait to hear his closing argument.

  • Even IF she got the death penalty, she'll still probably outlive her parents.. You know it takes forever and a day for someone to actually be ... uh, what's the word?

    killed? fried? put to death?

About GA (I can't bold on the mac)- it's so true! Why would he do that crap?! I mean, he used to be a cop. If an accident happened he would have known better than to try and cover it up and just dump the body. He would have called EMS to try to give her a chance. The defense really tried to throw him under the bus with all of their allegations. I'd be so pissed if I were GA, his reputation is at the least tarnished.

I don't get the fuss over Casey's reactions. If she doesn't respond, she's cold-hearted and unemotional. If she does react, it's crocodile tears and all an act. She's in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" kind of situation there.

I thought Ashton did a great job. Very compelling. I'm interested to see the defense but don't have high hopes there. I still maintain it will be a defense "victory" if she gets out of the DP, although I personally don't think the evidence warrants a 1st degree murder conviction.

I think the fact that he is/was a cop has only a smidge of relevance.. I mean, there are crooked cops everywhere.. But, I think what makes me believe that he didn't do it is that he was such a doting grandfather. I guess.   I just don't believe that drowning crap. I mean, like Ashton said, he buried his dead dogs, but then threw he grand-daughter in the woods?

Also, Casey is the one that borrowed the shovel. I remember GA testifying that he had shovels in his shed.. He could have buried her.

It's just interesting/annoying that through 6weeks of testimony she had little emotion, and today she is shaking her head through out the entire closing arguments.. It's just interesting I guess.

On HLN they were saying that the agg. child abuse/neglect charge would be a 1st deg murd charge.. I think she will get the agg child abuse charge.

I don't think she'll get the DP though.

I agree that it would also be a victory  for the defense if she doesn't get the DP...

BTW- I've been reading your blog, and I had no idea you did so much work in school in regards to jury stuff. Very cool!

It's the fact that she is very selective as to when she cries, only at times that is fitting. I think it shows more of just how deceptive she is.

  • OMG this picture thing is ridiculous!!
  • lol. @ this argument over the photograph on this display board.

Casey said she was 15 in the picture.  I saw her mouth 15 to Baez. .. Baez knows he's wrong with this picture. geesh.

So stupid that he used THAT picture..c'mon, there are hundreds of other pictures of her during this time period.. lol nice try bozo.

    22- 7 = 15

Thanks! Yeah, that's what I still do for work - I do subcontractor work for jury consultants in NYC and DC. I do a lot of capital casework but I usually do pre-trial research and jury selection stuff only (then we move on to the next case), so I have loved to be able to watch the WHOLE trial here. I'm ready for this jury to start deliberating already, though!

As far as her lack of reactions, I would assume she was instructed to remain poker-faced throughout the trial. But, like I said, no matter how she responds it will be interpreted as guilt, so it doesn't really matter anyway.

I definitely just LOL at the chart of her "imaginary friends."
