Re: Say anything... again!
I haven't tried any store bought kinds here but I like the fresh out of the coconut kind, especially when it comes mixed with rum and fruit juice!
Agreed.
Ha. I agree about the Zico. People rave about it but it really is not worth buying in my opinion. The taste is just off.
If you plan on trying again, go with Amy & Brian. That is the best one I've found (non fresh) so far.
I am like, so ridiculously angry about a situation that has nothing to do with me, i cannot change, and kind of ultimately doesn't matter because the people involved are a bunch of high horse self-righteous blah blah's. divulging any particular information makes me look bad for bashing the blah blah's, so i'm trying to just throw it in my mental trash can. RAWR.
i've never had coconut water, but it sounds disgusting...lol.
my photography blog
I'm going through something very similar. sigh.
As for coconut water - I agree with Almond about the coconut water (I called it coconut milk) straight from the coconut is DELICIOUS. In Taiwan they just drill a hole in it and put a straw in. I loved it so much I had seconds.
That was regretful. A couple of hours later I entered a restroom and didn't come out for a couple more hours. I felt very light on my feet afterward, though!

I woke up on the wrong side of the bed and my house is a mess... Where is my fairy godmother when I need her?
I tried Zico (original not a flavored one) too. It tasted like bottled sweat- like pedialyte actually.
Dear FIL and stepMIL,
If you ask to take my child to a swim party that starts at 1 p.m. and are still not home or answering your phones at 9 p.m. you will force DH into stalker mode and cause him to drive around the neighborhood he knows you are in to find you.
WTH. Did you find them? Why didn't they answer their phones? I would go into stalker mode no matter how long they were gone if they didn't answer their phones. I'm crazy like that.
No word from DH yet.
ETA: All is well. Someone's phone got wet so they took all the phones inside. Whatever. If you have my child for 8 hours I expect to be able to contact you. And no one went inside the ENTIRE time they were there? Please.
I'm trying really hard to make ammends with them but they don't make it easy.
Coconut milk is different than coconut water. I've also seen the water called coconut juice here, and it often includes coconut pulp or (shudder) coconut jelly bits. I also think it has added sugar in some of them. I don't care for it, but DH loves it. But give me some coconut milk any day. (Although it contains practically no nutrients but fat. There is like 3 or 4 grams of saturated fat PER TABLESPOON. Yikes.)
Hell. No.
I commend you for trying to make ammends, but hell to the no when it comes to your kids. That's ridiculous. And rude.
I'm glad everything is ok though. I can't imagine how freaked out you must have been.
So when you drill a hole in the coconut and put a straw in it and drink whatever is inside, which is it? Juice, water, or milk?
I then broke it in half on a sharp rock and ate the insides out. And then had a 2nd one.
And then had life changing diarrhea.

Holy hell. That totally made me shoot wine out of my nose.
(And if you've never done that - it burns likeabitch.)
LOL - sorry. I can imagine what the wine feels like - I shot chewed up dill pickle out of my nose one time. That burned like a mofo!!

I think I just found the motivation to get into shape, starting when I get back from Florida a week from Thursday. Yesterday I was meeting friends at a bar in The Woodlands. It's been several years since I've been to anything in The Woodlands and I had no idea where I was going. As soon as I started walking the torrential downpour happened. Two friends and myself ran 4 blocks to the bar we were meeting our other friends at. I was soaked from head to toe, and I looked like a drowned rat. I am so sore today. I will never do that again!!!!!
I have got to get into shape!
That is juice/water (same thing). Coconut milk is made by draining the meat of the coconut. I can imagine you had quite the experience, with all of the oil that's in a coconut! Yikes!
coconut milk = awesome
coconut water = nasty
I really wanted to like it (all the celebs are drinking it, right?)
but it was just gross.
I know, I tried it for the same reason. No matter which flavor, it's a no go.
This is going to be the most awesome week ever!!! I only have to work two days then I'm going to Florida for a week!
Changing the subject to something that sucks - Why do my left eyelashes always come uncurled? I look ridculous every freaking day because my right eye will stay curled, but my left eyelashes are straight by 8:30 a.m. Does anyone know any tricks to get them to stay curled?
My mom revealed to me this weekend that I had platinum blond curly hair as a baby. I knew the blond part, but the curly part was a surprise. My sister & I tried to argue with her that my hair has always been straight & she had her daughters confused again & she should probably lay off the booze. She pulled out pictures & proved that indeed my hair was curly. And my sister had straight hair. Which is really odd because now my sister's hair is curly & mine is straight.
We had a long conversation trying to figure out the root of the hair switcherroo. We eliminated any kind of smoked substance (as neither of us have ever smoked anything). We temporarily leaned toward chocolate as she's allergic to it & it's my mission to consum my body-weight in chocolate annually, but that didn't make any sense because we never had chocolate as kids b/c mom was afraid it would kill my sister (would have totally been worth it). We discussed shampoo differences, but we used the same shampoo up until a few years ago & the transformation precedes that. Drinking different forms of alcohol was temporarily discussed as during college I was a beer girl & she was a Boone's girl, but my brother pointed out that our hair had already changed by then (that was a tricky concept for us).
The conversation then morphed into a discussion of how in college I was a beer & hard liquor girl, while she drank "girly drinks". And now I have a gluten aversion & mostly drink girly drinks, and she now drinks beer. Which then turned into a discussion of how my nickname in college was "The Tank" because I could drink amazing amounts of beer.
It was around this point in the conversation that we realized my mom had left. And she not only left the room, she left the whole house. After some discussion we assumed she went to get chocolate to slip in my sister's food & wheat to slip in mine. My brother talked a lot of *** about how he's the prince so she'd never try to poison him like she would us. Which we agreed was true, she did get up & cook him breakfast that morning while the rest of us were left to fend for ourselves. (He still has her conned into believing that he can't scramble a danm egg. Seriously Mom? He's a 26 year old marine pilot. If he can fly a helicopter her can scramble his own egg.)
Mom got back home over an hour later, at which point we were designing t-shirts with a "Marines can't scramble eggs" logo. She did not pick up any chocolate or wheat products. But she did get a bunch of kiwi's & some pecans. My brother's two deathly allergens of choice.
He went out to eat for breakfast the next morning.
I'm sorry, that sucks. I catch everything Cooper gets, I swear I have NO immune system anymore. So far this year I've had the flu, strep throat, several cold/sinus infections and most recently some VILE virus that gave me cold symptoms, stomach flu symptoms and pink eye ALL AT ONCE. And the stomach "issues" continued for nearly two weeks. On the upside I lost nearly 5 lbs.
That stinks! Oddly Addie hasn't had this virus, I don't know how I got it!!
Some kids don't get any symptoms from HFM, a kid in Cooper's class had it so we got a notice about it, he had a mysterious fever around the same time but no other symptoms. When we looked it up all the books/websites said reactions to the virus vary widely. So, maybe she did have it/was carrying it but didn't show any symptoms.
good point. I don't have the fever or mailaise (wish I had the decreased appetite. the only thing that makes my throat feel better is swallowing something). I wonder if she was just the carrier, the little stinker.
