How's everything Thursday going so far and what's planned for today? I have a media appearance in about an hour for some classes we have going on, so I'm dressed in a suit today instead of my much more comfortable summer dresses.
We received a called from my MIL at 5a telling us our 4 month old neice was being taken to the hospital in an ambulance for respitory distress. She's doing ok now, but she had to be put on oxygen and given breathing treatments in the ambulance on the way. So scary, but I've been talking to my SIL and she said that neice has bronchitis and the hospital is hoping to release her this afternoon. So, if you can spare any good thoughts her way, it would be great!
Re: Good morning!
Good morning! That's so scary, but I'm glad to hear she is doing better and hopefully released today.
I keep forgetting that today is actually Thursday and not Wednesday. I'll gladly take confusion on days when it works in my favor. I woke up at the butt crack of dawn today with H because it's so hot in our house and I can't sleep well. But I'm just happy to have cable and internet back today, since it was down statewide from before 9 yesterday until 4:45. Not a fun thing when you work from home from 9-5.
Good morning. T&P's to your niece. That is so scary. Today not much going on. I am currently watching the sentecing of Casey Anthony because I have nothing better to do. The repair person is coming to fix our washer today so I am happy about that. And I should clean today.
The Dogs and Us
This week has just been hard to keep track of with Monday off. I keep thinking we're either a day behind or (somehow) a day ahead and it's already Friday.
I keep wondering what her life will be like when she's out. I mean, she basically threw her family under a bus, so are they going to welcome her home with open arms or is she on her own? Will she even try to go back to her parents?
The stupid nest ate my post.
I'm confused about why the motion for multiplicous charges was just filed today. They've known about these charges for months.
Today's my wedding anniversary and we're having beef bourguignon for dinner. I'm looking forward to the weekend full on Rebecca Black style.
Given the level of disfunction in that family, I do not think she'll be cut off very long. When she gets out, where is she going to go? If her sentence doesn't exceed the time she's already served, she may not even have probation...she's now got a conviction and her face and name are well known, so I don't forsee she'll get a job very easily. She threw her friends under that same bus, so it's not like she'll be crashing on their couch.
I completely agree. This might be a flame worthy confession, but I honestly think having to live her life now in the general public where everyone knows who she is and fully believes she is guilty is far worse of a punishment for her than the death penalty.
Ojo that looks delicious. I am going to save it and make it sometime. Please let me know how it turns out.
I think her family will take her back in. She has no place else to go. That being said I do think she will get her own place eventually because she will make tons of money selling her story. It will also be extremely hard for her to get a job because this case became national news.
The Dogs and Us
I cannot freaking wait for Maj Hasan's court martial.
When does his trial start?
I'd say casey will serve less than 6 months. She's probably got credit for 3 1/2 out of the 4 years.
I'll let you know! I used stew meat and pinot noir...I'm a little nervous it won't be as good as if I'd used a roast and I'm always nervous about my wine selection.
I agree about her future income. I'm anticipating a Lifetime movie very quickly. She will be played by Alyssa Milano.
The nest eats my post when I try to quote people.
I think charges have been referred, but it hasn't been docketed.
I don't even think she'll serve 6 months. Good conduct time normally works out to be 5 days for every month, and given the the actual charges she was convicted of, I'm sure they'll be pushing for parole with probation right away.
IMO, she needs probation to transition back into whatever her version of "normal" is.
That does look good Ojo - can't wait to hear reviews.
The Casey Anthony trial...ugh. She makes me sick. I also think her family will take her back. We were talking on my anniversary board yesterday about how the brother is engaged and if the fiancee will still marry him; we figured the only way she would is if the brother cut ties with Casey for good. Not sure that will happen though.
I thought yesterday was Tuesday and today was Friday...wishful thinking on my part. Nothing much happening at work today, so will probably play catch-up and read this historical fiction on the French Revolution I started over the weekend.
Edit: OP, I hope your niece is OK!
That sounds so scary! I'm glad she's doing better.
Right now, H and I are waiting for our new washer/dryer to be delivered and I think we're going to the pool after that. He has to go to work Monday and we have quite a few little things to get done before then.
Good Morning! Sent T&Ps to your niece!!
I just woke up 15 minutes ago and I'm already exhausted thinking about my day. My mom is out sick from work today so I'm stuck with my two crazy bosses all day. I'm already wishing for 5:30
Which is why I said less than 6 months.
Some people seem to think she's going to serve the entire other year.
She's definitely going to need some help to transition. She probably needs to be in a protection program because there are some angry and over dramatic people around. They're protesting/rioting at the courthouse from what I've heard.
I have stronger feelings about those people than I do Casey. This is how the system is designed to work. Hate on it all ya want, but reverting to a judicial system where we stone prostitutes and cut the hands off theives isn't beneficial.
Thank you! My FB feed is driving me insane with all of the comments, and I stopped watching the news coverage because of all the stupidity in the interviews. Be mad about her getting off all you want, but direct your anger at the prosecution, and not the jury. If it was okay for a jury to find someone guilty after that evidence, then there would be a horrible rate of wrongful convictions in this country. Sorry, that's not how I want to live.
Apparently the judge said she'll probably be free to go at the end of this month or beginning of next month.
I completely agree. I'm so tired of people bitching about how the jurors are cowards and blah blah blah. Makes my head hurt.
Where did you hear that. Dam CNN not updating it's feed!
BLT the judge at the sentencing said it. I am not sure if it is in an article or not. They are going back to court of the 25th for one more hearing I beleive.
ETA: I think it is total BS that the state of Florida is trying to go after her to make her pay for the trial.
The Dogs and Us
Why wouldn't they. Most defendants do pay the court costs. It's part of the fine.
I think it's BS they want her to pay for the cost of the searches since she knew the child was dead.
Fifth amendment, right against self-incrimination and all that jazz.
Morning! That's so scary about your niece, I'm glad she's doing better. Poor little girl!
I'm counting the minutes, literally, until 4:30. I'm so ready for today to be over. I finally got my med clearance, so as long as things go well at the med board on Tuesday we should expect orders very soon!
I'M SO READY TO GO!
Good point. I can see paying for some costs (eta costs for the investigation from when she lied). I just don't want them to try to put all the costs on her kwim? While she is obviously guilty of something (she knows something she just won't say what wether she really did kill her or it was an accident). I guess I just never heard of it untill this. Question. If she was found not quilty on all the charges then they couldn't do it right? From my understanding from what you said she only has to pay for the charges she was quilty of?
The Dogs and Us
Dup. and Ojo I agree with about the cost of the search.
The Dogs and Us
Honestly, I'm not too sure. I should ask the guys I work with. We mostly deal with cases where our search warrant comes up with some cash being stashed in the house and instead of charging the defendant for our search we just keep their money. Does that make sense? I believe, however, that they could still charge her for court costs and such. Just like if you take an ambulance to hospital, you have to pay for it(or your insurance) whether you needed the ambulance or not. Some states are also starting to charge for 911 calls, you can pay a flat fee every year or they charge you some astronomical fee if you end up having to use it and haven't paid the flat fee.
*edited because apparently I can't spell*
Good Morning. S I'm so sorry about your niece. How scary, prayers that she gets better quick.
I don't have to go into the office until 10 so Simon and I slept until about 30 minutes ago. It was lovely. I'm feeling like an a** today because I was kind of a *** to my FSIL last night. She didn't get a job she had applied for and basically refuses to work and minimum wage job. And honestly I was just trying to be encouraging and helpful and I said exactly what I would have said to any of my other friends. Brother called me and told me to mind my own business. The problem is she and I had talked about this stuff before and it was never a problem like this. But apparently she had a migraine last night so that does not help. I tried to appoligeze last night and she didn't respond so E said to just drop it. Given her personality that should be fine, giving mine I feel like I need to appoligieze all over myself for months so she'll forgive me. UGH.
