Honestly, I'm not too sure. I should ask the guys I work with. We mostly deal with cases where our search warrant comes up with some cash being stashed in the house and instead of charging the defendant for our search we just keep their money. Does that make sense? I believe, however, that they could still charge her for court costs and such. Just like if you take an ambulance to hospital, you have to pay for it(or your insurance) whether you needed the ambulance or not. Some states are also starting to charge for 911 calls, you can pay a flat fee every year or they charge you some astronomical fee if you end up having to use it and haven't paid the flat fee.

*edited because apparently I can't spell*

That makes me think of this story, where the firefighters watched his home burn down because he didn't pay the $75 yearly fee to the fire department.

  • Gracias Ksrwar.
Also, I think the $1,000 fine for each count is probably what they're going to use for court costs/search warrant stuff. It's not like they're saying "$4,000 fee + court costs + search warrants" I think, I could be wrong.

  • No problem BLT.  Thanks for clarifying that for me.
  • July 13th she'll be a free woman. I'm slightly scared for her.

  • T&Ps for your niece, SS.

Today feels like a Friday to me.

Right now I'm just doing laundry but tonight my mom, sister and I are driving to the outlet malls in Williamsburg and I am going to make a real effort to find some "grown-up clothes" (aka not jeans and Star Wars t-shirts). Apparently the Banana Republic there is supposed to be having a massive sale so I am tentatively optimistic.

  • T&P to your family!

Today is ok.  I thought the H was going to be coming down here tonight since they have off tomorrow but the exercise got canceled today and moved until tomorrow which means no day off for the H.  Plans changed so what do you do but roll with it.

So tonight I am going to happy hour with friend/dog sitter and making the dinner I planned for tonight for tomorrow.  Beach and pool time are in the plan for this weekend
  • Update on my neice: all is well and she is headed home here in a little bit. She's doing much better, but will be taking home a breathing treatment machine for a few weeks just to be extra safe.

What scares me the most of about Casey Anthony being out is that people are wanting to dang near burn her at the stake. I do think that they should have convicted her of at least child abuse/neglect, but the fact that the jury couldn't determine if she was guilty or not shows that they used the facts instead of their emotions like they were supposed to. I'm not 100% sure I would've been able to seperate the two in her case.

  • Sookie--I'm glad your niece is ok.

    Ojo--Happy Anniversary!!

I learned today my neighbors are really sweet.  The idiot neighbors next door moved out of their house last weekend, and decided to cut all the copper pipes out of the house.  However, the idiots didn't turn the gas off before doing it.  I had a feeling that's what they did when I we woke up and the smell was so overpowering.  We called the fire department b/c we knew they would get here faster than the gas company and I wasn't sure if anyone was still left in the house.  The whole block wreaks of it so bad right now.  My neighbors have been coming over all afternoon to check on us b/c we're so close.
