Re: Friday!

  • Yea for Friday!  Short weeks always seem the longest.  I am a big nerd (maybe cheap) and requested a bunch of movies from my city library.  One of them is finally in and I plan to have a lazy afternoon tomorrow to watch it.
  • I went to bed at 7:30 last night and it was wonderful!

We also went to bed super early at our house -- around 7. DH slept the whole night through (and is still asleep, since he has today off) but I woke up for a few hours last night to get some dinner. Sadly, I'm not fully rested yet. :(

My friend gave me the True Blood season 1 and 2 DVDs. I intend to do some of this myself. I am also going to get a pedicure this weekend, my toes need it.

Last night when I got home from the gym, DH was at the neighbors house. I walked over there and the neighbor was actually giving two other neighbors a personal training session. I knew he was a certified personal trainer but I never thought to ask him to train me since I figured it was like doing work at home. We talked about it and he said he would love to train me. I felt bad having him do it for free, so I am paying him a little but now I have a personal trainer 2 houses down! I am so excited.

Score!  DH has off today, and instead of going to the gym at the butt crack of dawn, I decided to take Penny for a long walk/jog.  She was gassed when we got back :)

So I know you guys have had a G2G at Taco Diner in Addison. DH and I were thinking about going there for dinner tonight, but neither one of us have been before.  What do y'all recommend we try?

  • Leslie that's awesome about the personal trainer.  Hopefully this will help you meet your weight loss goals!  Do/Did you get to POAS today?

I'm just tired.  I couldn't sleep last night.  Tossed and turned all night and for some reason it seemed so much hotter in the house last night.  I kept getting up to check the A/C and it was on and blowing at a cool 70 but it felt so hot.  I had to get a washcloth and put it on my head just to get cool.  Then I couldn't get comfortable.  I can't wait to take a nap after I take the dog to the vet today.

I'm glad it's Friday!  We have a busy and hot weekend ahead.  We are helping our best couple friends move into their new house this weekend.  They have movers for the big stuff but they don't have much family here to help so we offered.  I was told I could move the pillows and that was it.  I'm ok with that!

  • I'm here, but can't be on much because I've had an unproductive week and need to get something done today.  I am so looking forward to this weekend - we have nothing really planned, and I'm excited about that.  Since DH got home, my parents were here one weekend, I was super sick one weekend, and we travelled last weekend, so I'm excited to get to just chill a bit with him :)

Leslie, yay for a personal trainer!!

Dana, you can be the water girl, and I'm sure they'll appreciate that just as much as if you were carrying box after box!

We went to the Taco Diner in Las Colinas but I assume they're all the same. I love the briscket tacos!

I did POAS this morning and got nothing but I am also only 9 dpo, so it's not exactly late in my cycle. Either way, it is what it is. If I didn't get pregnant this cycle that means I can start killing it in personal training. If I did, then woo hoo.

TGIF.. Even though this was a 3 day week for me after coming back from Florida, it seemed like the longest week ever. I am so tired and sleepy in the afternoon so the motivation to work is totally lacking, but on a bright note tomorrow is the half way point! 20 more weeks until our little girl is here. I wonder if the 2nd half will go by as fast as the first..

I didn't know there was a Taco Diner in Addison?

    Yay for that!

Also, traffic was really light this morning. I guess DFW Nesties have Fridays off too judging from the board. LOL.

If it helps, I didn't get my BFP until the day my period was actually due, so there is definitely still some time...

  • I am currently reading A Paper Life by Tatum O'Neal.  In the acknowledgements sections, she thanks Billy Corgan.  I think that is so strange and even though she is a weird chick, I can't really see a connection between the two.  Maybe it will be explained later in the book.
  • Leslie,

That's such a good attitude! And that's awesome you have a "personal" personal trainer right next door. Hah.

    Kathy,

Yay for the 20 week mark!

And I didn't know there was a Taco Diner in Addison either....

  • Oh, and remember all the tension I was talking about in my neck/shoulders last week causing me to have migraines? Which is why I went and got that massage?

Well, whoever told me it would help temporarily but it would come back was correct.

I was great until about last night. The MT told me that she wasn't able to get rid of all the knots and that I needed to let my muscles relax and come back in two weeks so she could do more work. So, I made an appointment for next Thursday.

I'm wondering if I should go sooner?

And now I'm wondering what's really causing it. Honestly, I'm not super stressed right now! I'm starting to analyze every position I sit/lay in while I'm at home.

I've thought about it possibly being our mattress, but if that were the case, why would it just be happening now? I've been sleeping on this mattress for 18mo.

Sigh. I'm at a loss. And it's getting frustrating. Yes I'm a member of Massage Envy now, but I can't afford to be getting massages every week! I was hoping monthly, or bi-monthly would suffice.

Not sure if it will help you, but Biofreeze helps me in between massages.  I use it almost every night on my neck.

It's kind of like Icy Hot, except a million times better. It's cryotherapy instead of heat therapy and its amazing.  I haven't seen it in retail stores... I know chiropractors usually offer it and you can get it online too.

My Massage Envy sells it.  It's amazing stuff!  Used it after my car accident and it helped so much.  Now I keep it on hand for times when I can't get a massage but I'm hurting.

  • Summer-  I am really sorry to hear about how uncomfortable you are.  I have the same knot/comfort issues in my neck, shoulders and back.  I think some of mine is stress, some posture and some just who I am.  I used to do massages, but one bad experience (cracked rib!) has kinda turned me off from them.

I hope you get some relief soon.

Speaking of chiropractors - have you thought about doing that instead of a massage, Summer? Maybe you are misaligned and that's causing the migraines?  I don't get migraines, so I honestly have no idea.  Maybe migraine people will pipe in and have an opinion on chiropractors.

As someone new to massages, I'm officially freaked out now.

    Lacey,

My mom suggested a chiropractor if it doesn't get better.  I just don't know what could have started causing it all of a sudden. Because this just literally started being a problem within the last 3 weeks. Not the migraines, but the tension and pain.

Before that, my migraines I know were hormone and weather/temperature related like they've always historically been. I can predict when I'm going to get one based on where I am in my menstrual cycle. It's like clockwork.

  • I am here but I just need to catch up. We had meetings all morning.

Leslie - Best of luck! Congrats on the trainer too. I think we will be joining a local gym and getting one.

MzHotz - How exciting! It's so close.

I'm actually awake today. We've been so exhaughted all week. I have to get the house in order tomorrow! There are so many things to do and it doesn't feel like I'm going to get it all done.

Um, not ok. How did that happen? Too much pressure?

Back in the day I was pretty thin in my upper body and I went to get a massage for all the knots in my neck/shoulders/upper back.  The lady was just doing her job and trying to loosen/rid the knots.  At the time, I did not feel like the pressure was too much.  I think it was just too much constant pressure (60 minutes) in a concentrated area (my upper body).  I didn't leave feeling "hurt."  But for the next 8 weeks, I for sure couldn't take a full breath.

I just can't enjoy/relax for them anymore.  I am a little afraid that someone will "crack" me again.  I usually spend my hour constantly thinking, "Have they worked that area too long?  Should I ask them to move on?"

For me, its a few things.   Stress can do it because I seem to carry all my tension in my neck.    Also I hit Body Pump pretty hard and sometimes that can agitate it as well.

Mostly though, I think (and this might be the case for you since your in class/study a lot) it is because I spend 8 hours a day in "study position" with my head down reading and analyzing things at my desk.  It can be pretty brutal on the neck.

Sorry about your migraines. :(  I agree that it could be caused from all the studying you do.  Maybe you could try some stretches to help with the tension.  Also, I really like the Excedrin Migraine.  It seems to be the only OTC med that works for me when I get my monthly migraines.  Feel better soon!
