I'll just start this today because I have some random thoughts. They are all weather-related. I used to be a hot weather girl all the way but I fear that's changing! L likes to keep our house really cold in the winter (usually 65ish), mostly because he can be kind of a cheapskate when it comes to energy costs. Thus, he doesn't like to turn on the A/C in the summer. With so much of the year spent at 65*, now I have a hard time when the house is 77*. I've turned into such a wimp!
But I still hate snow!
Re: Tuesday Randoms
Good morning.
I'm looking forward to the somewhat cooler and less humid weather that we're supposed to have for the next few days. I am not looking forward to the 90 degree weather again this weekend.
My brother, his gf and my mom are coming over after work today and we're going to the beach. I'm so excited (and thankful that I'm able to do this on a week night.)
This sounds like so much fun on a weeknight. Enjoy!!
I remember when I was younger, my mom would pack our dinner up and as soon as my dad got home from work we would head to Grand Haven. We would eat on the beach and then go for a swim.
Glad to hear that it went okay. I can imagine it's a bit emotional. How long have you been with this company?
Six years. My boss actually said that he's jealous--he always wanted to go to law school. He said his lack of an undergraduate degree was always a pesky problem, though.
Eek! Go you!
Congrats!!! I can imagine that would be emotional.
Hooray! So now that everything's on the table with your job, can you share a bit more about what your plan is? Did you quit completely to do law school full-time? And where will you be going? (Apologies if you've shared this before and I missed it. And if you can't divulge specifics here, I understand.)
I'm really sad that I didn't win the Tom Bihn giveaway on Academichic.
I wanted that bag so bad!
This past Saturday and Sunday nights, we pretty much laid in bed all night wishing for death. It was soooooooooo hot.
Sure, I'll share a bit more, but may delete some of this later.

... and Traffic Jam will become a new hang out for you:

I didn't know the plan either; thanks for sharing. It's tough doing the "bi-coastal" relationship thing. Jim and I lived though him living in Jackson during the week for ~2 years. I'll bet Skype has made it a little bit easier.
I fear my only hangout might be the law library.
But I did get to check out Traffic Jam during an event back in April. So cool! We also saw the Detroit Artist's Market (if we ever have money again, I'd love to buy some art from here for our house). We also got to visit a few theaters in the area (Majestic Complex and Fillmore). We got a killer backstage tour of the Fillmore, including the green room and dressing room. I am really excited about going to school in the D and kinda bummed that it didn't work out for me to get my own apartment there.
Yeah, I am dreading the bi-coastal thing. In undergrad, we spent a year where I lived in East Lansing and L lived in Grandville. Even that wasn't easy. I'm consoling myself with the fact that I need to just study, sleep and eat and wouldn't have time to spend with L anyway. I'll also have summers off from school and really hope that I can find summer work over here. That will definitely help.
Yeah, I think this might be me too. I don't mind it being hot outside, but I like to have A/C available to retreat to.
We have a futon and a chill in the basement. Slumber party?
Almost across from the TJ & Snug is Motor City Brewing Works - you can also go there for a pint of microbrew. :-)
Also, I have a friend that graduated from Wayne State Law School about 2 or 3 years ago. Hit me up on the FB if you want her info, I'm sure she'd be happy to help answer any questions you have. :-)
B and I lived in different cities for about three years while we were in college. Not fun. Although, I think we'd be able to handle it way better at this point in our lives now that we're more mature and stable, if that makes sense. Hopefully you'll find this is true for you too, compared to when you lived apart as an undergrad.
I'm really excited for you, Diana! This will be such an experience.
ETA: Hmmm... don't read the first paragraph the wrong way. I'm not suggesting that you guys were previously immature and unstable. I'm mainly talking about my own relationship there, and how it has evolved.
