Either I'm blind, or no one has started randoms.
I 've got some random thoughts that I need to get out.

Re: No randoms yet?
So, I started a Twitter account. Not for me, for the cats that I'm watching while a friend is out of town.
I have some fun ideas, but I need some help with the program Paint. I put a photo in, and tried to crop out a shape, but when I paste it into another photo (in a different program), I get a big while space to make the irregular shape a rectange. Any tricks?
Also, I went to the doctor today for some pain that we both suspect is an ovarian cyst. I have a Cat Scan tomorrow just to be sure. Can anyone tell me about how long that might take?
We're putting in our 2 weeks notice at Willa's school today. She'll have August off, and start the big K in September. Big step! She's been at this place since she was 3 months old!
That is hilarious and I'm sure your friend appreciates greatly.
I love it.
Good luck with both of these!
Amachuta - Bummer on the grilled chee.
GRSP - Fun idea on the kitties, but I have no idea about Paint. GL w/the cyst, but I have no idea about cat scans. I'm very unhelpful today, but yay for Willa!
The Midas successfully traveled to Muskegon and back with zero breakdowns. However, my body brokedown on Saturday night and I'm pretty sure I was fighting off some kind of crazy flu bug or food poisoning all day Sunday and Monday morning. It was not pleasant.
I second this!
Tweeting cat sitter is awesome! I'm so tempted to ask my cat nanny if she'll do the same. But, we probably won't be needing her as often over the next three years so I guess I'll let her be.
I've had two CT scans in the ER for headaches and both were relatively quick. If you have an appointment scheduled for it, or are calling to schedule the appointment, can you ask how long they think it will take?
That's crazy! How is Willa feeling about the impending change?
Whoa - lots going on for you! Good thoughts that everything goes smoothly.
What is the Midas? Your bike?
And I'm sorry you got sick! My nephew got sick Saturday afternoon as well, and spent Sunday in the hospital with a temp of 104. He has been throwing up and had diarrhea as well. He is still sick today...they can't seem to break his fever. It's still around 103. My sister (not my nephew's mom) had something similar last weekend.
Hope you are feeling better today!
Oh, and let me vent this current struggle:
We are going to the AA area for Thurs and Fri night. Originally we were going to stay w/a friend in AA but he has to be out of town (the story for why he will be out of town is a whole post in it's own right). Anyways, we figured we'd camp. Now that the weather is forecasting human melting heat, that's not looking so desireable. We have friends that live about 45 minutes away, so we're debating staying with them or paying $200 + for lodging at a hotel. I have trouble spending this money, but I'd like to enjoy our time and not have a 45 minute drive at the end/beginning of the day. I'm currently stuck on what to do.
The Midas is the old as *** RV we borrowed from Andy's parents, which has a history of deciding not to work every 10 miles driven.
Sorry your nephew is so sick - I hope he feels better! As soon as the stomach cramping stopped (yesterday morning) I felt a lot better and today I feel completely better.
You were in Muskegon and didn't tell Molly and me?!
Have you tried bidding on Priceline? I'm sure it's rough with the art fairs going on, but if places have open rooms, Priceline is probably where you'll find the deal.
Ha - it was for Belligerent Camping, so we just hung out on our friend's blueberry farm most of the time, plus a 4 hour tube trip down the Muskegon river. I barely even got belligerent due to tummy troubles developing on Saturday night, so trust me, I wouldn't have been much fun. ;-)
My mom is driving me crazy. She calls me what seems like everyday, sometimes more than once, for stupid reasons. I actually quit answering my phone because I'm tired of having multiple 3 minute conversations about nothing. The last two calls I didn't answer and she didn't leave a message, so I assume it was just another two calls about something ridiculous. She's stressing me out.
Last week she called me all frantic because there wasn't anything on the baby shower invitation my aunt sent her about a GC giveaway if you brought a pack of diapers. Um....ok. I didn't plan my own baby shower, so...yeah. I really don't care. If you want to know why, call the hostess.
She then called me telling me an old neighbor of mine who I haven't seen in three years was upset she didn't get invited to the baby shower. Ok, she can go, give her the address if she's that upset. I just didn't want to seem gift grabby and invite people I haven't seen since our wedding.
The next day she called me all upset because she had to work, and would be an hour late to the baby shower. Ok, no big deal. It's a casual, laid back thing. We'll see you when you get there.
And then she called me wanting to know who was going to pick up my baby shower cake. Um...I have no idea. IMO it shouldn't be my problem, since she's the one who ordered and paid for it. She called me again on baby shower day and asked again who is picking up my baby shower cake. She really should have talked to the hostess about all this, but no, she's calling me. Nick and I ended up picking up the cake ourselves and bringing it over to my aunt's house. The kicker.....she never told my aunt the hostess she ordered this elaborate baby shower cake, so there were TWO cakes at the shower. *sigh*
I would pay for the hotel. It will be worth it for the convenience, ease and comfort. The last thing I would want after a long day out and about is to have to drive a long distance for lodging. But I usually prefer a hotel to staying at someone's home.
I have never used Priceline - I guess it couldn't hurt!
It might not be super helpful since AA isn't as large as NYC, Chicago or Vegas; but check betterbidding.com. You can use the calendar of wins and your city to see what (if anything) people are getting.
You seem laid back enough to not be stressed if you aren't staying in *exactly* the place you would choose, so I think you'll be fine. And there's no risk unless Priceline accepts your bid (then you own the room).
GRSP, you're the tweeting cat sitter!? Awesome. That is very fun. My cat sitter can't really even use email, so Twitter is not going to happen for her. And good luck with everything else you have going on this week!
I very quickly ran through the rest of the randoms but the tweeting cat sitter is what stuck out to me. To everyone else -- hi! Hope you're each having a nice day! If not, I hope it improves soon!
I'm kind of wishing my boss would come back from vacation. I am swamped doing my work plus a good chunk of hers. And today it was brought to my attention that she didn't design/submit an ad that's due. So now I have to do it although doing ads is not something I ever do. So... that's challenging.
Yes, yes, yes. I second the betterbidding.com suggestion.
Mini-vent: I'd like my house back. We've had a full house since Friday when our two oldest nephews plus their cousin came to visit. We also invited my brother and his fiancee and our youngest nephew. Those three left on Sunday evening, but then the mom of our two oldest nephews came with another cousin. Yesterday my BIL arrived. All of these people were invited, but by now, I'm just ready for some peace and quiet. I think my kitty agrees.
To make matters worse, our master bath faucet broke last Thursday so we're down one sink. And then the toilet seat broke on the half bath toilet on Sunday (I have a replacement today).
Using betterbidding.com, it looks like there was one win in the Livonia area for $39 a night at a 3*, which is pretty good.
Thanks for the tip ladies - I sent it on to Andy (he used Priceline once so I think he has an account) and we'll see what happens. *fingers crossed* I'm potentially giving up going out on Thursday night, and just leaving Friday morning and paying for the hotel on Friday night, so we'll see.
I'm sorry about the Mama Drama. Can you say "Mom, I love you, but I've been stressed right now with a lot of things, so can you limit the phone calls just a touch?" or something along those lines? Maybe w/the baby shower over those issues will clear up a bit too, since it sounds like a lot of the calls were shower related.
Good luck!
Our friends are going to AA for art fair too (they live in West Bloomfield so they're local-ish).
Well, we're actually going for a far less cultured reason. The Summer Beer Fest is that weekend in Ypsi. We have a wedding Saturday, but neither of us has to work on Fri, so we decided to go for the Friday Beer Fest event. I suggested we go Thursday night after work and enjoy Ann Arbor w/o knowing the art fair was that weekend. :-P
We are open to rec's, but depending on the hotel money I may try to eat cheap to compensate. I'll note Zingerman's though!
I got shorted on my paycheck last week and finally got it straigthened around today - thank goodness.
Mike got $100 cash for all the hours he has been putting in for the last month - since the other manager got hired. Well he hasnt had a day off since. The $100 is nice but still.....
