Re: SA Wednesday

  • Renee, I got my B-pics hair/makeup done at Toni & Guy.  My hair with extensions was $65 and they charge $37 for regular makeup but you can take it in product.  I felt the same way--no way was I paying as much as I did for my wedding.  I looked like a hot mess in person and walked in and asked Chelsea if it would be ok for pics and she said it would and I'm happy with the way it translated to the pics.  Just know that you will look scary walking out of there.

I honestly think my hair looked better here than it did at my wedding.

  • imagercpm44:

We did but we're going to do it when the bluebonnets are in bloom. There is a place no far from our apartment that would be great!

Oh beautiful!  I can't wait to see how they turn out!

  • I finally made it to work.  I was up from 1-5am thinking the cyst on my ovary was exploding but according to my doctor is was just "growing pains".  She said it will go away with a warm bath and walking around.  IT DIDN'T!  I was so miserable.  The only way I finally fell back to sleep was on the couch, sideways, with a pillow under my hips and my feet over the top.  DH thought I was dead this morning.  I came into work late to sleep a little longer.  It still is hurting but it's not a sharp pain just a dull pain that won't go away.

Is there more than one salon? If so which one did you go to and did you use a particular stylist?

I went to Northpark and I used Tiffany the manager for my makeup--I can't remember the girl I used for hair but she's Asian and has a weird name.  I used a guy named Chi for my E-pics.  I liked both of them.

Dana, I am sorry!  I remember those early stretchy pains.  But just remember it's all a good sign!

GORGEOUS!! What kind of extensions were they? How long did they stay in?

Didn't you have airbrush for your E-pics? How much was that? I googled Toni & Guy and there isn't a lot of information about each individual salon and I'm not able to call now.

Yes I did (I used Chi at Northpark for my hair).  I used my wedding MUA Kristin Colaneri and it was $75--she was going to charge me the same for my B-pics but I finally decided it would be even cheaper to go to T&G and just have them do my hair too anyway.  But if you want airbrush, you could definitely call her.

  • Stephanie,

I contacted Kristin and she is going to charge $115 for airbrush alone! I'll reply and see if she'd be willing to come down.

  • Thanks ladies!!

Steph you look GORGEOUS in that photo!

This is like music to my ears!  I am serious library supporter...now I am the dork!

Yowza.  Well, my E-pics were early 2009 (although my B-pics were just last year).  That's nuts.  And although I was happy with my B-pics, I still recommend airbrushing if you are worried.  My makeup certainly didn't last like my wedding and E-pic makeup did--it looked rough by the end of the hour session.

    Thanks Summer!

This gets a big Yes from me!

Sara, I've had that dream before, several times. My teeth were like crumbling and I was spitting out tooth chunks. So weird.

Last night I dreamed it was November 1st and I had totally missed Halloween and our anniversary. I think it was because our A/C is out so I was super hot, and I'm really ready for fall to get here.

  • BL - I've started taking vitamin B-12 (every day, not just during that time)... DH, believe it or not, researched and told me it might help with my energy levels during that time. I can't offer any opinions whether or not it's working, since it's only been 3 days of taking it. Also take a look at any OTC stuff you're taking. I suspected the Midol was knocking me out, despite the caffeine in it. I was downright groggy when I was taking that, so I experimented and tried a few other OTC pain relief meds. (Aleve ended up working best for me, but I know everyone reacts differently to everything).

Renee - I can vouch for Halo's airbrush makeup / hair services -- I've used it twice, for engagement photos and my RD. (Not arguing with Brianna's crappy experience there, but luckily I had a great one -- especially because I couldn't have afforded airbrush otherwise) It's great, and only $50 in their studio, so if you're close to Ft W either where you live or where you're taking the pics, I highly recommend it. But they charge a hefty travel fee -- I believe it was $150 in addition to the $50 -- so I don't recommend having them travel to you. Also don't mention the word "wedding" -- they have different prices for wedding hair/makeup than everyday hair/makeup services. And it's way more expensive. Hence why I found someone else on my actual wedding day.

  • Marie - I noticed they have a "Halo Brides" section now and the prices were WAY inflated from normal. I hate when salons do that. I know that's the nature of the "wedding beast" but still.. so crappy!
  • Stephanie- Oh I know it will get worse.  I am expecting some of it.  No one warned me about "growing pains" and I guess I hadn't gotten to that part in the book yet because I had no idea what was happening and neither did my mom when I called her at 3am crying because DH wasn't waking up and I hadn't heard back from the nurse yet.  Now that I know what to expect, and theorically how to calm them down some, I'm ready for next time.  Just thought the baby was trying to claw it's way out of me last night.

  • I really want to do a day-after session, but I'm getting quotes for $300+!  Which makes me veer away from it.  :(
  • MarieSD, we were talking about B-12 the other day because all of us seem so tired.  Tiffany is taking it and I started it yesterday.  So we can all see how it goes, I guess.

BSN, would you consider using Colton?  He might be cheaper.  If was ever going to TTD, I would probably use him or Chelsea.  Chelsea runs specials from time to time also.

I'm taking boudoir pics and checked but Halo isn't open on Mondays and that is the day we are taking the pictures. :(

I am considering P31eleven.  They shot a friend of mine's wedding this weekend and her b-pics... and her bridals... and their engagements and she did an awesome job.  I am just shopping around right now.  I'd like to do the pics in August, I think.  I will ask Colton for some pricing too!

That was Lynn Michelle, I believe.

    I thought so but I wasn't sure.

  • Would it really be so hard for phone companies to transfer your contacts when you get a new phone? If they can put your old number on a new phone, why can't they move all your saved numbers with it? I just got a new phone this week because my old one won't charge anymore, so I couldn't backup my contacts and now I can't turn it on to get them. So frustrating.

    There is also Kandice Ray.

My plan is to use Julie Birdseye next year for our pics and that is $145 for a full session.
