Re: SA Wednesday

  • Stephiehall -- oh, I should've mentioned that I definitely wasn't the only one on this board using B-12. I just figured I'd throw it in there as an option specific to the TOTM issue. My DH swears he read somewhere that it can reduce pain from cramps (I didn't see anything like that when I looked, so I'm wary about that claim).

BSN - I know! I was so sad when I saw that ... they were like the only salon I saw with a reasonable price, then of course they had to increase it before my actual wedding. I had already booked them for my RD hair/makeup, and I was crossing my fingers they wouldn't charge me the wedding rate. (I'd already told them it was for my wedding rehearsal). Luckily, they did not.

Oh no, I was just letting YOU know in case you hadn't seen us talking about it.  Fatigue seems to be a big problem for many of us.  It will be interesting to see how we all do!

I got a pretty bad headache very suddenly earlier.  Don't know what that was all about.

  • What kind of toy would a 16 month old like to have? I'm going to visit my nephew this weekend and I'd like to take him something. I don't get to see them very often so I don't really know what he likes to play with.

Sara - I've had a dream like that before. My teeth were really loose. I could wiggle tham with my tongue and then they fell out. The first thing I did when I woke up that morning was make sure none of my teeth werre loose. :) It was such a creepy feeling.

This is always my go-to for that age--I remember Mel loved hers.

  • After watching different "Housewives" over the past few days (yes, I'm trashing my brain), I've come to the realization that my department at school is exactly like these shows.  Too bad the school wouldn't let us make some extra money being on TV.

Thanks Stephie! I've been looking at the Toys R Us website, but there is so much to choose from. It's a little overwhelming.

Sometimes it's good to ask the parents if you can. Otherwise they are walking at that age so anything they can push or ride is good. Balls are always great too.

  • My nephew had this http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2266036 around that age even though it says 2-4.  He played with it all the time for a few years.  My friend's kid also got one around that age.

Unless of course you're my uncle...He gave me a Play-Doh Fuzzy Pumpers Barber Shop.  My mom hated that toy.  She used to joke that she was going to give the cousins a drum set in retaliation.  :-)  I always ask what they like, what they're interested in and what they would prefer that I not give them.

I was also looking at a riding toy train that has alphabet blocks and makes sounds. He is walking, and I know he some kind of push lawnmower toy but it's not a riding toy.

  • Someone brought me black garlic and now my cube smells.  At least it will keep the vampires away!

When I was little my uncle gave me one of those push toys with balls inside that make a loud popping noise when you push it. I'm not sure if they make them anymore. My mom hated that toy. It must be an uncle thing.

I really want to do a day-after session, but I'm getting quotes for $300+!  Which makes me veer away from it.  :(

    There is also Kandice Ray.

My plan is to use Julie Birdseye next year for our pics and that is $145 for a full session.

Love her.  It's too bad none of our girls uses her.

Vendors seem to cycle in and out.  Not that I pay much attention to threads these days on TK or keep up with everyone's vendors, but I hardly hear (even a year ago) about the vendors that were being used when I first came on.

I was going to suggest a push toy--but the one I saw on Toys R Us got bad reviews so I didn't suggest it.

  • Summer - How was your lab practical?
  • I am on the hunt for a sofa/console.accent table.  I want something longish/narrowish to put against a wall in my living room to display framed pictures.  Internet searching for one is so overwhelming.  The choices are endless and pricey.

BL - Seriously good news that your mole was just irregular. Not to sound preachy but I really hope you listened when your doctor was giving you the lecture about you skin!

I'm trying to set up boudoir pics for our one year anniversary and trying to get someone to do hair and airbrush makeup for around $150 seems to be impossible. Most everyone wants to charge closer to $200 - $250. I paid that much for my wedding day hair and makeup and don't feel like wedding day and boudoir pictures are the same caliber. I don't know, I just don't  think it should cost as much as my wedding look did.

I went to MAC in Nordstroms at Northpark for my makeup for the b pics I did. They charge $50 but you get $50 in products.  I really loved the makeup. They did a beautiful smokey, sexy eye. :)

That is what I did for my wedding last year (in May) and my make up was fine several hours later. She used extra primer & different products to help the make up stay.

Have you looked at Ikea?  Or HomeGoods?

  • I'm not sure what part of town you are in, but you can also go to the Toni & Guy Academy in Carrollton. It is really cheap ($15 or $20 for a wash/cut/style and I'm not sure of the other prices). Ask for a salon ready senior and you will get the same quality you would from an intro level stylist at a salon.

Oh, gotcha. Yes, I saw some of the conversations about fatigue/B12. In fact, it was the first thing I thought of when DH suddenly started talking about it randomly last week. I was like ... wait, are you reading TN or something? Haha.

I've been taking B12 for the last 3 weeks on the advice of my doctor, for fatigue. While I haven't noticed a huge difference in the way I feel during the day, I have noticed that I'm sleeping a lot harder, and waking up feeling more refreshed... so I'll take it!

Kirklands too!  .. and surprisingly... Lowes has some very affordable ones sometimes  (around $80-90) that come with lamps.

  • I think I might jump on the B12 bandwagon especially with how I have been feeling lately.

Sarah- how is the new job going?

I could only play with it outside.  So I never really played with it.

Thankfully, I had the popper thing too.  I'm pretty sure Santa gave it to me and I loved that toy!!!!

I did check Homegoods last Friday in Flower Mound.  They were pretty picked over, but I might try again this week.  That place is so hit or miss.

Tiffany-  I never thought of Lowes.  I will check that out.

You also might try a different HomeGoods.  For example, I can go to my normal location in Allen and then go down to Richardson and it's like walking into a completely different store.  Double the shopping.  ;)

  • I saw Nate Berkus make a really cool console table out of repurposed material on his show last week, but I can't remember what it was. I'm going to see if I can find it, I really liked it.

ETA: It was a shutter. It could be fairly inexpensive, I would think.

  • OMG totally off subject but Matt just texted me and he has an interview tomorrow for a data entry job.  Not only is this the first interview he has had in a while its for a job he might actually enjoy!  Please send positive vibes our way, this would lift such a weight.
