Last book you read, or what are you reading now?
I'm looking for some ideas. I think I've read two books this year...

Currently I'm re-reading Harry Potter & the Deathly Hollows and Good Calories Bad Calories (that one's probably not what you're looking for though).
Last book I read was Outlander, loved it.
I read The Hunger Games Trilogy earlier this year & loved them too.
Love that series!
I'm living vicariously through the girls in Pretty Little Liars. Right now I'm on book two of eight or nine in the series. Love the show too!
I'm also ready Guiliana and Bill's "I do, Now What?" It's cute. I love them and their show.
I also just bot the Abs Diet for women but have yet to crack it! lol
I love Sophie Kinsella and have several of her books that I'm waiting to read. I have Twenties Girl next on my list.
A Stolen Life by Jaycee Dugard is the last book I read. Albeit a crappy situation, she told her story very well.
A Game of Thrones - George R. R. Martin (still reading)
Chasing Fire - Nora Roberts
Dead Reckoning - Charlaine Harris
I started Water for Elephants (though kind of old) but I've had a hard time really getting into it, so I keep moving on to other books and going back to it.
I'm almost finished with Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I'll probably read the second one after that.
I also have read the Vince Flynn books. If you like 24, you should check them out.
I'm reading another book by Lisa See (it's the sequel to shanghai girls, she wrote snow flower and the secret fan too. All great books).
I am reading Freakanomics with DH so we can discuss it.
I also just started Harry Potter because I almost always agree with Nanner on books and she loves them.
I keep going back to The Autobiography of Mark Twain in between books.
Another great book I'm thinking of rereading is Molakai. Excellenct story about the leper colony in Hawaii, it's told by a teen girl there.
You can check out goodreads.com for great suggestions. I'm on there, so is Nanner and you can find someone you have books in common with and read them.
last book: sarah's key
current book: winds of war
I am behind the times and just read Eat, Pray, Love. Well, I read Eat and Pray and was so bored I ditched it right before she found Love.
I am in the middle of reading Bossypants by Tina Fey and have A Game of Thrones next on my list. DH loves the Song of Ice and Fire series and hopes I will too. I just hope the writer isn't too flowery. I only get 15 - 30 minute increments to read these days and I just can't take it when the writer it too long winded.
We are going to see Harry Potter next weekend, so I may re-read that too.

I just finished Jane Eyre (audiobook).
Before that was The Hunger Games trilogy. Loved it.
me too!! i really didn't like that book at all once she left italy
I want to read the Jaycee Dugard book, but I'm not sure I can hack it. I might not sleep for a week.
Right now I'm rereading The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova.
That book sounds great, definitely adding to my to read list.
I'm on good reads too, going to look for you.
Most recents have been "Nobodies: Modern American Slave Labor and the Dark Side of the New Global Economy" and Tina Fey's "Bossypants"
Currently reading "Godel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid" and it's blowing my mind (in a good way)
I finished this one last week and started the 2nd one. Will probably read the 3rd one as well.
Also reading a Worn out Woman
Ditto! I just finished the Virgin Lover and am reading The Other Queen right now!
Another book that I loved is A Year in the Fog by Michelle Richmond. I was hooked right at the beginning.
I could not read that book. I tried several times and never got through it. I also tried reading Devil in the White City and finally traded it back because I couldn't finish it.

I'm reading Jaycee Lee Dugard's book about her horrible experience. I started it last night and will likely finish it tonight.
She's not an professional (obviously) writer and she prefaces the book with that fact. However she is a really good storyteller especially considering her circumstances and lack of formal education.
It is very disturbing though.

Loved "The Help" and can not wait for the movie!!
I just finished "Sisterhood Everlasting" by Ann Brashares - it's the final book of the Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants series. It's really a good book, quick read.
I also just finished "The Lincoln Lawyer". Oh Emm Gee.. that was a GREAT book. I am now going to have to rent the movie!
I am currently reading "Clara and Mr. Tiffany" by Suan Vreeland. Good read, but slow. It's my go between read.
I have downloaded samples of "Dreams of Joy" by Lisa See and "Heat Wave" by Nancy Thayer. Looks like some good beach reads for me. Even though I will go no where near a beach.
I am waiting on "The Orchid Thief" to come out in Kindle version. I had heard it was a pretty good book so I can't wait to check that out.
Dana Herman Wouk's "Winds of War"? If so LOVED that book. Had to read it in College for my History class. First time I had EVER finished the assignment early! LOL
I want to read Sarah's Key too. Saw in a Magazine that they made a movie out of it too.
recent reads:
"Unbroken: A World War II Story..." very good
"Room" good
"My Horizontal Life" by Chelsea Handler (yes, I'm way behind the time) - very funny
"Water for Elephants" - good, better than expected
"Faithful Place" - very good
currently reading:
"Moonwalking with Einstein" - it's nerdy but very interesting; its about our memory; the author follows World Memory Champions to learn their tricks.
Currently just bought: Reshaping It All by Candace Cameron Bure. (will start reading this weekend)
Here's the summary from amazon:Bure?s healthy lifestyle has been featured in US Weekly and People magazines as well as national talk shows including The View and NBC?s Today. In Reshaping It All, she continues the story, inspiring women to embrace a healthier lifestyle by moving faith to the forefront, making wise choices, and finding their worth in the eyes of God. Candace shares a candid account of her struggle with food and ultimately her healthy outlook on weight despite the toothpick-thin expectations of Hollywood.
More than a testimony, here is a motivational tool that will put readers on the right track and keep them there. In addition to practical advice, Candace offers a biblical perspective on appetite and self control that provides encouragement to women, guiding them toward freedom.
recently i've finished:
Cleopatra: A Life (great cleo biography, absolutely loved it)
Bossypants (fun quick read, very silly and interesting)
The Wordy Shipmates (sarah vowell is a witty professional historian, and has a great way of talking about history from a very current point of view. This book in particualr is about colonial times in america, relations between the english, dutch, and natives). I also loved her books "assassination vacation" and "the partly cloudy patriot" patriot was my fave. i am going ot read her "unfamiliar fishes" next, about the US's takeover of hawaii.
currently reading "Just Kids" by Patti Smith. it's her memoir about her life in general and relationship with robert mapplethorpe. i LOVE it. i want ot not work and read it : )
i enjoy biography/memoirs and historical stuff... historical fiction as well. probably my favorite books of all time are:
Pillars of the Earth, Ken Follett. It's an historical fiction novel about medieval europe, and it is absolutely wonderful.
The Red Tent, Anita Diamante. This is an historical fiction book about Rachel from the Bible... she has no voice in the Bible, but this is her imagines memoir. You don't necessarily need to be religious to enjoy it, it's probably something the Church would not stand behind. It's a very interesting look into culture during the Biblical times, though.
The Poisonwood Bible: Barbara Kingsolver. 50's housewife and her Missionary husband travel to Africa with their four daughters (husband in hopes of converting the africans to christianity). The book is written in chapters, but each chapter has the story told from five different points of view:
Mother: Mom speaks as though she is remembering the time, alludes to lots of things.
Older Daughter: She's a teenager, very shallow, speaks in the present tense and pretty much spouts off about things she doesn't understand.
Daughter 2: she's very young, writes from an innocent point of view, leaves you dying to know more details. It's a very intriguing way to make you think about things...lol.
Daughter 3 (Twin A): believes her father to be the biggest hero ever, agrees with everything he does, takes his word as gold, champions him. she is somewhat of a tomboy, but always romanticisizes her father's actions.
Daughter 4 (Twin
: She is somewhat physically handicapped, but mentally very high-functioning and introspective. Very creative, and disagrees with/dislikes her father. She is the more sarcastic cynic.
It's a really neat look at the culture of that time, but just an all-around interesting read... fantastic story.

This is great! Thank you all!
And thanks to Dana for reminding me that I had a Goodreads account. I signed up a long time ago and then promptly forgot.
