Re: Last book you read, or what are you reading now?

  • I just finished "The Hunger Games" and I am currently reading the "DaVinci Code" and "The Confederacy Dunces."

I recently finished "The Book Thief" which I thought was good, as well.

  • Just finished reading Jaycee's memoir, A Stolen Life--as others have said, she's not a professional writer but it's an interesting story nonetheless. And it was actually much less graphic than I expected.Prior to that this summer I've read: Heaven is for Real, Same Kind of Different as Me, The Kids Are Alright & The Help

  • (small confession) the book I'm reading now is whatever book Maddie chooses at bedtime; Dora, Disney princesses, etc etc.  and the bible.  I don't really have much time for pleasure reading but y'all are awesome for reading so much.

The last book I read was Breaking Dawn.

  • last book: How Starbucks Saved My Life (nice story)

current books: The Paris Wife (LOVE!), Oprah by Kitty Kelly (meh, I'm skipping around chapters), Made to Crave (LOVE!)

  • Oh, and since your screenname is duchess I'm going to recommend The Second Duchess by Elizabeth Loupas to all fans of historical fiction.  I have only read the first couple of pages but I CAN'T WAIT TO READ IT!!!!!

The author is a literary friend of mine and it sounds like a royal version of Rebecca by Daphne DuMaurier (ie. second wife coming in under the shadow of the first wife).

Only reason I haven't devoured it yet is b/c I want to finish The Paris Wife first.

  • Finally read the Host. I thought I would not like a story about aliens. So not my thing. Hence it taking me so long to read it. It was really good. Not sci fi like. More about feelings and a softer side. I would really recommend it. An easy read.
  • Late to post, as usual.

Just read An Echo in the Bone by Diana Gabaldon. 7th Outlander book. I had been getting tired of that series, but I LOVED this one and can't wait for No. 8. I also have to highly recommend The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss. Really great fantasy (lighter than George R. R. Martin, I hear).

Currently reading: The Swan Thieves by Elizabeth Kostova. It's developing very slowly, but so did her first book, The Historian, which I ended up loving.

  • Currently reading - An Echo in the Bone by Diana Gabaldon

    Last few I have read:

Same Kind of Different As Me

    Secret Daughter

My Horizontal Life - Chelsea Handler

Another great book I'm thinking of rereading is Molakai. Excellenct story about the leper colony in Hawaii, it's told by a teen girl there.

You can check out goodreads.com for great suggestions. I'm on there, so is Nanner and you can find someone you have books in common with and read them.

That book sounds great, definitely adding to my to read list.

I'm on good reads too, going to look for you.

I loved Molokai!  I didn't want it to end.

    Last read: Something Blue

Reading now: Echo in the Bone (last book in the Outlander series)

On deck: Honolulu (by the author of Molokai)
