Re: Chit Chat Friday

  • Matt got a ticket on his way to the interview yesterday.  He wasnt even running late or anything so he didnt even need to speed. Angry

Our company is trying to raise $5,000 for the kidney foundation we support.  Our departments goal is $700 so my team is doing a car wash today behind our building to raise money.  It will be hot but hopefully it will be worth it and if we reach our goal I told my team they could do whatever they wanted to me (within reason).  They have chosen to buy me a pair of jeans to wear to work on a Friday.

  • I thought I was starting to lose it because this bird in our apartment complex seems to dive at Gypsy and me when we walk, but DH walked with me last night and saw it first hand.  I always hated Hitchcock's movie The Birds, and now when I walk the dog I feel like I'm in it.

I'm excited about volunteering tomorrow and getting to meet more of you!

Your not alone Lauren!  I have a serious fear of birds for this very same reason...and we have a LOT of mockingbirds and blue jays in my neighborhood.  They are mean little suckers!

I'm excited to volunteer tomorrow too! :)

Wow, that would freak me out.  We used to have a cement dalmation in our yard and we used to have crows that would just dive full force into it.

    Birds are definitely aggresive.

  • I'm volunteering today is anyone else doing to this afternoon?

My husband was trying to fix my computer last night and broke it. I really don't even want to go looking for new computers.

I love, love, love this. So cute of them. Good luck with the wash and the jeans!

  • I went to the female doctor yesterday and got good news. Not the good news mind you but something we initially thought was broken is working. It may be sputtering and having some trouble but it is working!

I too am excited about volunteering. I am also excited about breakfast because I love Cafe Brazil...lol.

I have to go shopping for a pink shirt today. I am not a big fan of pink, so this will likely be a one time use shirt. Worth it for the cause though.

  • I know this is random, but it is on my mind.  Is it just me or have crickets gotten louder?  For the past two nights I have woken up in the middle of the night and the sound of crickets outside our bedroom window was unbelievable.

Also, some days I sit in my car and read at lunch.  Yesterday the crickets were so loud it was honestly distracting me from reading.

    Good to hear!

You can probably give someone else the pink shirt. Yea I realized I only had one pink shirt, it's my "Catholic Girl" shirt and I really haven't worn it in a while, so I hope it still looks decent on me.

Not that I would notice, however, due to my husband's snoring, I'm not sure I would have heard the Space Shuttle landing next door over his noise.

  • Tiffany & BL - I really thought I was crazy, but it's been a couple of days in a row now.  I feel stupid being worried about a little bird, but I've started to walk in different directions to try and avoid it.  I mean it got close enough for me to feel it's wings in my hair yesterday.

Leslie - I'm glad you got some good news! Any little bit of good news is probably great to hear during that process.  I think I might be right there with you... I don't have any pink t shirts so I will probably hit up a store today.

I kid you not...I asked DH this the other day. It sounded like they were in our room. I actually made him get up, turn the light on and look for them but they were outside the window. It's probably global warming...lol.

  • I thought I had earned my Vitamix this morning when I could not even get the blender to turn on (yes, it was plugged in ;) and I even switched to another separate plug in) but DH came to the "rescue".  Dang it.
  • Jaymi, I hope you get your vitamix soon it is a little slice of heaven to have one.
  • So there is this woman over on a Bump board that has been trying to conceive since April of 2008 and just found out she is pregnant. I don't know this woman and have never spoken to her but I am so happy for her. Yes, I know this is strange.

Anna - You and I share the infertility blog love so you know about this crazy happiness for complete strangers.

  • I understand that what I am about to write makes me sound juvenile, but I will just put it out there.

I was at Walgreens after work and decided I would look at the OPK's.  I was interested in looking at the directions on the box and just getting a feel for how they work.  So I am standing there reading the instructions on the box and I get to instruction #3.  It says:  "Make love in 24-36 hours after the first sign of a positive test."  I started giggling out loud like I was in 6th grade.  "Make love?"  Really???  Who says that?

When I left the store, I immediately called my one of my friends and we laughed about it, DH and I laughed about it and I just told my coworker and she laughed about it.

It just seems so ridiculous to me that that was instruction #3!!!

  • The other day I decided to get out of the freezing cold office and thaw out and eat my lunch outside on our picnic table. Well.....aparently I got bit by a spider on my calf (is that the right spelling????) and its all swollen, and HURTS. So I went to the doctor, he said it was a spider bite for sure. Not a brown recluse or black widow, thank goodness. Gave me bactrum, to be safe, so staff wouldn't set in, and its close to the weekend. Said if it got worse, I'd kinda be stuck. But anyways.... I cannot swollow big pills, even when I cut them in half. So he gave me the liquid. Which when you first swollow it, it taste good. Kinda bubble gumish....and then it taste wierd, like a ... old cherry.

  • Leslie I'm glad you got some good news.  Hopefully you'll get awesome news soon!

Crystal, OUCH!  I hope it doesn't get any worse.  I understand wanting to thaw out but to get bit.  Hope you feel better soon.

BABC ladies, have fun tomorrow.  I'm sure y'all will have a blast!

    TGIF!  I need the weekend!

  • We went to see Harry Potter last night.  I was late getting off work, so we missed the 7pm show and saw the 8pm show in 3D instead.  It was really good... but I am so surprised at how little I remembered from the book.  I kept being surprised at each new thing that would happen!

I'm working from home today, and I may or may not have slept until about 15 minutes after I normally start working.  Oops.

I have noticed the weird wording on stuff like that too and it always makes me laugh, but honestly what would they say? Have sexual intercourse? Bang it out? Get it on? Make love is probably the best solution they could come up with for the overly sensitive.

I have also noticed that makers of fertility related things like to make it a little more romantic seeming since peeing on a stick and then having timed intercourse really isn't that sexy.

I don't find that weird at all, especially since they have been trying for 3 years.  Hooray for good news.

Deepthi, what is wrong with it?  Do you think it can't be fixed?

I will take this opportunity to tell everyone that Ben started his computer business while we are on vacation.  www.dallascomputersolutions.com.  It will be a side business and he will keep teaching until we see if it is going to do anything.

    I hope that was ok.

BL, aside from the ticket, how did the interview go?

I don't know for sure, but it's an old computer already. One of my guy friends works on computers too so he said he would look at it. If they can't I'll all Ben.

I think it should say, "Make Whoopie" just like the old Newlywed Game TV show!

Yes, I totally get it! I find myself cheering for them every cycle, then sad if it doesn't happen, lol.

I don't think I have a pink shirt, either. At least not one that fits. I guess I should look into that today!

I also looove Cafe Brazil, but I can't guarantee that I can get up that early (sad, I know, but it comes with only working part time). I will try, though!

    LOL!  This cracked me up.

Anna, I know, not many things can get me up at 7 am on a Saturday, but Cafe Brazil is one of them.

  • I don't think I'm going to make it to breakfast, guys.    I will see you at the event though!
  • My attention span and memory has become similar to that of a gold fish.  No joke.  I was going to do xyz after I posted on Deepthi's post and started to do whatever and then I couldn't remember what I was needing to do.  This happens all the time.  And it's mostly in the work environment- I'm not as bad at home.  I'm just hoping it's because it's summer and it's not crazy busy at work therefor my mind has only really been stimulated by message boards.

They say (yes it's they) if you take fish oil it's suppose to help. I think it's fish oil.. don't quote me on it.
