Re: Friday Randoms
I wouldn't call it awful, but it was pretty unprofessional. I just went through the drive-thru, and it seemed like it was just a bunch of kids goofing off. Didn't bother me too much.
I wanted to get a soup, but it was almost 80 degrees at the time.
Molly, that's what my cw said as well. I've never had that impression from other Paneras. I'll have to check it out and lay the smack down in a survey
I tend to be particularly picky about panini sandwiches. I often find them overly greasy and just blah inside. It's like the designer of the sandwich thinks grilling the outside means it doesn't need a good combination of ingredients inside.
L loves the asiago roast beef sandwich.
I love how Panera puts their calorie counts on the menu board. It's so helpful in getting me to make better choices.
Apparently! Boo.
It looks like it might just be you and me, Molly, but I'll be around until 4:30ish.
Yeah, I'm planning to stay in touch when I start school, at the very least lurking from my phone (I believe someone referred to me as TN Ghost). Plus I'm FB friends with many GR Nesties, so we can stay in touch that way too. West Michigan will still be home and *hopefully* I'll find summer work back here. I'll also be home more weekends than not and maybe we have some weekend gtgs. Most importantly, I'll need lots of support when I run for public office post-graduation.
I'm peeking and posting in between annotated bibliography entries.
Suze, I was wondering about your Nest plan. You know, LaywerLindsay was here and is now on the Detroit board....
I think your Panera service will get better over time, ladies. I love their black bean soup, but not in the summer. I'm with Hoek on the Greek salad. Mmmm.
Ok so you are going to school to become a lawyer, right? Do people go to law school for other things?
I have a good lawyer friend in Muskegon...I could ask him things for you if you need.
He's been practicing for over 12 years, and just started his own firm July 1st.
That is going on the list to try in the fall. Sounds delish!
I have thought about checking in with the Detroit board for some things. For example, I'm contemplating joining a running club in the D. I think I'll rely on the school, my classmates and housemates for a lot of things like where to eat and drink, etc.
It is my thought that law school will consume the vast majority of my weekday life, and between classmates and housemates, I'll have plenty of IRL company. If something didn't go according to plan, like I end up working there in the summer or post-school, I might migrate over to that board. Hopefully that won't happen, though.
And you have all been so supportive and such great friends that I would feel badly about not keeping you in the loop about how things are going!
Yes, I'm planning to be a lawyer. Sometimes people go to law school for other things, but it usually isn't the best plan. One of my friends own his own business and was able to go to law school for free (he worked for the university). He has never actually practiced law, but uses the knowledge for his business and for a time worked for a university where his J.D. was a nice plus and helped him get paid more, but not a job requirement.
What is your friend's specialty?
Here is some random information from my goodreads.
I read 25 books in 2010 and listened to 5 audiobooks.
So far this year I've read 25 books and listened to 2. The big question is how much of my TBR pile can I get through in the 2.5 weeks I'm off. In that time I also need to do my first homework assignment.
Hmmm. I have no idea what his specialty is. I know he does DUI cases (though rarely), LLC stuff, wills, wrongful death lawsuits...is he like the equivalent of a family doctor - not smart enough to have a specialty? lol. Even if that is the case, he makes a nice amount of money.
With lawyers, I don't think smarts has anything to do with specializing. Drs have to do extra schooling based on their specialties and some specialties are super competitive. With law, it's based on the elective classes you take and what your job experiences have been more than anything, I think.
His practice sounds interesting and very cool that he was able to set out on his own and make a decent living. I always like hearing that lawyers are making money and have jobs! If he's looking for a law clerk next summer, you should hook a sister up!
I totally will!
Thank you very much! I'll remind you about this later in the fall when "recruiting season" for summer work starts, if that's okay. But really, I super-appreciate an introduction if he ends up wanting some help.
Of course! Please remind me!
He is our lawyer for the lawsuit and he is really cool. H went to school with his ex-wife, and H and lawyer bowl together on Wednesdays.
A Groupon I want to buy says this:
Must be 4 or older or be accompanied by guardian
So based on this wording, I am assuming a 21 month old could go with an adult. But...doesn't this sound like they allow 4 years olds without adults? So confused.
