Re: Life Updates
Hold the phone. Who are you? (I'm sorry I don't remember if you were around) I don't remember anyone living in the same city as me when I was a regular on this board.
Ditto
Waaay late to the party, but wanted to say hi! Sounds like lots of good things going on. Lots of vibes to those looking for work/furloughed (friend of mine w/ FAA just got the bad news last night).
Kare-- Didn't know you guys were considering Korea. My (AF) brother was there for a couple of years-- they end up liking it ok (his wife and 2 daughters went w/) but they weren't over the moon. I guess the pollution was really, really bad (this was in the early '00s though, so hopefully things are better).
As for us, we just got back from 2wks vacation-- drove up the IT coast, across the Riviera and did a loop in North/Central/Eastern Spain. Driving we got to see some of the smaller towns along the way, which was cool.
Came back to... houseguests the next day (less than ideal timing) and my boss (who I think is great) last week at work. Yeah, it's been busy!
Found a renter for our condo (my nephew hasn't found a job in DC, so needed to go public, if you will). I'm a bit nervous about that, given the distance, but the property manager says great things about the couple, so crossing my fingers on that score.
Think that's about it w/ us-- no kids, no school
!
I like reading all of your updates. I am tipsy from wine so excuse any typos please. ha!
Nothing really new here. It was actually lovely having my parents in town last week. J actually said he wishes they lived here. What the what?? Yeah, exactly... I do too tho. Since they are retired and would be willing to watch the girls, it would offer a WORLD of help to us...I could actually work. Bah! In other news, my parents and a friend of their's went shopping at WalMart at 11:00pm (I don't even know why, I don't ask questions anymore... these are also the people who go to the casino at 2am because they can't sleep... right.) and they ran into my FIL... with a woman, arm in arm, holding hands... and that woman was not MIL. To make it even clearer here, MIL and FIL are still married and live together...uhm yeah. According to my parents, FIL had a "deer in headlights" look about him, quickly let go of said woman's hand and although they exchanged pleasantries and blah blah blahs, he never once introduced the woman to my parents. Weird right? Nothing has been said since... I did tell J and he's not surprised, but it totally caught me off guard. I'm terrified of the next time I have to see FIL. Kill me now. I think I will pretend I know nothing. Pretend my parents didn't say a word.
I am still looking for part time work. J said they would hire me at his restaurant as an "S.A." - a server assistant - basically a bus-boy(girl? person?)/water glass filler and honestly that would work perfectly with his current schedule (so we wouldn't have to put the girls in childcare) and the pay is really good given the easy work but I doubt they would be very willing to allow me enough breaks to pump breastmilk. Ugh. And I really reallllyyyyyy don't want to supplement formula for the simple fact that Genna has a milk allergy and any formula that would work for her would be uber expensive. I'm cheap, yo!
I'm planning Gabby's second b-day party. Nothing big, just a little GTG with family and friends at our house. Cole if you happen to be in the area that weekend I'd love for you guys to come! Let me know.
My mom taught me how to use the sewing machine they gave me for Christmas. Yeah I suck. Only seven months later. lol I am so proud of myself for just knowing how to thread the damn thing now. And dudes, I totally mended two pairs of stupidly old shorts the other day. Just shorts I wear around the house. Yay sewing!
Gabby is a typical toddler. But she's smart as all heck and I can't believe the stuff that comes out of her moouth sometimes. Genna is amazing since I stopped eating dairy. She's so damn happy and lovely and just amazing. I will be honest - it was very hard for me to bond with her in the beginnning because she was so "colicky." It's hard when your child does nothing but cry ALL.THE.TIME. She's a different child now and I see nothing but smiles day-in and day-out. I am in love with my kids like you don't even know.
And in other super duper exciting news - a new Target opened up only a few blocks from our house. I am in heaven. I should go get a job there - maybe the employee discount will offset the stupid amounts of money I spend there.
The end.
Ohmuhgawd Gabby is sooooo there, too. She hasn't even been napping lately. It's exhaussssttiiiiiiiiiiinngg. And she's so darn independent. I am amazed at what she can do when I give her the chance, but at the same time I'm like woah woah woah, slow the eff down. I need to do more with her during the day to wear her out. Play group/classes, etc. I've been avoiding outdoor activities because it fluctuates here between extreme heat and rain. Boo. But I need to give in because sweating my butt off/getting wet is better than an insane toddler. LOL
