bed wetting

my 2 & 1/2 yr old DD has been fully potty trained for a full month now. she went the 1st 3 wks w/ no accidents or bed wetting. then last wk she wet the bed 2 nights in a row + the nap inbtwn. she wet the bed again last night.

i'm hesitant to put her back into pull-ups at night, but i'm not sure what to do about it. we've asked ehr if she's awake or not when she's peeing & she's not really sure. we've tried cutting her off from drinks an hour before bed.

any ideas, advice, your experience, etc? TIA

Re: bed wetting

  • I think nightime is a whole different ball game than during the day potty training.  She is probably not ready or doesn't have that control yet for such a long period of time.  L wakes up most of the time dry but we still use pull ups at night because once in a while she is wet.  I don't think she is ready to get up and go if she has to in the middle of the night yet.

  • Night time is a whole different thing. You cant train them in to it, they have to grow in to it. the brain has to develop the ability to communicate with the bladder in a different way. It is totally physiological. there can be a year or two difference between the time when a child is day trained and can hold at night. Just use pullups at night and let it be,

  • You can't really train for night time. G has been day trained for a year. Wakes up dry most times from nap. Night time is hit or miss. I put her in pull ups at night and for naps. I'm in no hurry to give them up, I'd rather sleep!
