I am so mad FOR you girls. Seriously, just. UGH.

And, just in a professional sense... so so so so stupid. The whole thing is a massive head/desk moment, in my opinion.

BUT on a happier note... the high is under 100 degrees today, and tomorrow there's a solid chance of rain. Thank goodness for a tropical storm, right?

     Yes

  • So...DH (who is in nursing school BTW) changed the packing in my spider bite hole last night. It hurt like HELL. It was horrible. And let me tell you, homeboy needs to work on his bedside manner. I was crying because it hurt so bad, and he is telling me to stop being a baby!! Any tips to help it from hurting so bad? I was thinking of seeing if I could find some OTC Lidocaine cream????

This whole debt ceiling stuff is really freaking me out because social security is my mothers only source of income and the idea of her not getting that when I am in no place to be of any help is really scary.  I swear when it rains it pours but I just hope that means there will be a pretty rainbow soon.

I don't think that I could have described the moment any better.  The sad part is, I could totally tolerate the situation before that.  It was just a random observation by a few girls, and now it's turned into this huge thing.

The other sad part, I think we're all about 99% positive who tipped her off.  (And don't worry, no one ever thought it was you).  I think that if you're going to come on here and read what's being said, maybe it's better to internalize it and think "hey... you know what?  That wasn't very cool of me." but instead, turn it into this where all of the volunteers are now blasted!

    Ugh.

I wish stupid congress would look at THEIR OWN pay and benefits. I am a federal employee. The average federal employee probably makes between 35k-65k. Which is NOT the outrageous amount they make it out to be. These cuts to our pay and benefits hurt us. None of the cuts congress makes affects them because they aren't paid with appropriated funds. We pay a part of our insurance, and it covers 80%. Not near as good as congretional insurance. Let me tell ya, I can give you list after list of the things government overspends on and its not our pay and benefits.

I guess I've just always understood that part of being in this industry is that everyone won't be your biggest fan all the time. It's certainly happened to me. But unless it crosses over into slander, or someone's lying about something important... well, you just make the situation worse in responding.

I think your response, Brianna, was perfect. You were who I was thinking of in regards to having a personal reason to volunteer, and I was hoping you'd jump all sorts of down the poster's throat for casting shadow on your motives.

You girls rock socks for giving up a Saturday morning for a good cause. That's all there is to it.

    imageimg
  • Thanks Chelsea!  You are too kind.  It more so makes me mad that ANYONE would question the motives of any of these ladies.  And plus, I don't know what motives anyone would have for volunteering anyway... but oh well.  :)

The debt ceiling decision will also decide if DH keeps his job or not! It's been really stressful

  • I don't even know what to say, honestly.
  • Wowza... someone has some nerve I must say. Thanks Chelsea and Brianna for sticking up everyone.  I thought what y'all said was very well put and I'm sure the someone got the message loud and clear.

I volunteer for things like that cause bc I love doing thing for others or helping raise money for any cause like this, etc.  It completely brings joy to my heart and I'm sure the rest of the ladies there that day feel the same.

  • I must've missed that as well!

  • I am all several different shades of mad right now about the whole volunteering situation.

And if you lurk here and find things out and run and tell - well, really, all I have to say is get a life.  We obviously don't like you for a very good reason.

And that's all I'll say for now, because none of the other thoughts in my head are appropriate to 'say' out loud.

    Yes

  • Do you know why my best friend was there with me that day? The Monday before her aunt had been diagnosed with breast cancer in both of her breasts. Not understanding the cause, my ass.

I don't know about you girls but I was tired after the six hours we spent there. If I had sat around guzzling water and eating pretzels, I feel like I would have been more well rested.

I stand by my opinion she was rude from the beginning. My best friend has no idea the Knot or Nest exists, has never been engaged, has no prior knowledge of anything wedding related, including wedding photography. She looked at me after AK walked in and said "What was up with her??"

She is rude, end of story.

    On other non-asshat related notes:

Hanson was on the radio this morning! This made me happy.

I also ordered a tall drink at Starbucks and they gave me a grande on accident but told me it was a free upgrade for having a green car. :)

I had some register rewards that were expiring at Walgreens, so I decided to crack out some coupons for the first time in awhile. I scored some free stuff, which is always good.

After reading all of that thread, I'm ticked.

On a brighter note, I received a birthday coupon from DSW in the mail.  It reminded me that I still need to get a pair of silver shoes for my friend's wedding in less than a month.

  • Wow, the SA thread sure picked up!  That is just comical to me (because comical is better than enfuriating) that "someone" would join TN just to respond to a post and attack all the posters.  Way to blow a smallish issue way out of the water, honey.  Way to go.

On a more upbeat note... I'm ready for the weekend.  No plans, really, just ready for it to get here.... anybody doing anything fun?

If I were you ladies, I would just ignore her. Clearly she is completely out of line and rude, but if you give in to her and keep talking about her it will only fuel her fire ( and in her mind she "wins" bc she got to you/ made you upset).

You ladies know what you did was a great deed for a great cause, and there is no need to let one person with some weird chip on her shoulder get to you.

I don't know exactly how this event works in terms of management, but I would suggest talking to those people in charge about what happened and your concerns so that this sort of thing doesn't happen in in the future ( if you know what I mean)...

  • The girls over on Getting Pregnant are comparing # of lifetime "partners" and risque stories. I kind of love it because it means I was not alone in my hoe-ery. :)

I am doing nothing this weekend. Which is good because it's been quite awhile and will be quite awhile after this weekend before I can say that again.

In a perfect world, we could ignore it.  However, it was a low blow and I think, knowing these ladies, something like that can't be ignored.

I do agree with voicing concerns with the event management though.

  • We don't have any official plans either!  Maybe dinner & a movie with some friends!
  • I pretty much love that you girls gave that chick on the SA thread and giant Z snap!

Aaaaand now I'm picuring everyone giving a Z snap! Lol

  • Ugh, this whole thing just gave me tired head first thing in the morning.  I want to know who the tattle tale was.  I could have told you this would happen though so I just stayed out of it.  Although I didn't have any contact with Amy myself anyway.  I barely saw her.

I didn't come into contact with Amy--but the BABC people GAVE us the snacks so I don't understand why anyone would complain.

I loved volunteering and I won't let this taint it for me.

  • imagestephiehall:

I want to know who the tattle tale was.

I'd have just assumed she had a Google News Alert set up on her name, and set to notify her instantly. I had to monitor news about my past employers in this way. (I used it for promotional quotes, NOT to go defend them or anything).

Because if it was someone who has posted here even more than once... I would think that person could've just chimed in and said "I think it was just a bad day ... she's a super sweet person" or whatever. I don't know this person, but if someone said something about a vendor I'd liked, I'd certainly speak up (in a really respectful way, especially in this case when it wasn't like anyone was ranting against anyone).

I can respect it if someone came here and said, "you know, I apologize; I was just concerned about the dresses getting food on them. I didn't see anyone else with food and didn't realize it wasn't a problem with the organizers of the event, etc." They apologize for overstepping/being rude, and still save face (because, yeah, that could be a valid concern for the dresses). In a perfect world, I guess.
