Poll: What was your wedding cake flavor
I had two cakes. One was vanilla with a raspberry filling and the other was chocolate with a chocolate cream filling.
What was your wedding cake flavor? Did it taste good? If you post a pic of your cake, you get extra points.
Re: Poll: What was your wedding cake flavor
DH had ube cake (sweet purple yam cake, emphasis on purple).
Our tiered wedding cake was three flavors. All covered in off-white buttercream frosting.
- White cake with grand marnier cheesecake and raspberry preserves
- White cake with amaretto cheesecake and apricot preserves
- Chocolate cake with baileys cheesecake and dark chocolate genache
All flavors were yummy.
Haven't had a wedding cake yet
but I think that if it happens and we're in NL for it, I'll make my own.
It'll be almond or vanilla sponge with ganache and more nuts and vanilla sponge with a italian meringue buttercream filling and it'll be a fondant covered cake with flower decorations.

What I'm looking forward to in 2012:
Eating our way through (northern) Italy on vacation
<a href="http://www.thenest.com/?utm_source=ticker&utm_medium=HTML&utm_campaign=tickers" title="Home DWe had two flavours:
- golden butter yellow cake with vanilla buttercream frosting
- chocolate devils food cake with milk chocolate mousse frosting
Both flavours were so so yummy. There was so much left over and I was sad that we couldn't eat it all since we had to go on our honeymoon. My MILs church appreciated it though! Actually, come to think of it, I think the top layer is still sitting in her freezer ...
Here's a pic. Both flavours were covered with fondant icing. (I don't seem to have one on this computer of just the cake)
Cecilia arrived 12 October 2012
We liked the idea of doing smaller desserts and not just cake, so we had vanilla cake, chocolate cake, plum frangipan, and a variety of macaroon flavors. We had enough so that guests could have 2-3 smaller portions, and it went over really well.
We had lemon and vanilla with buttercream frosting. We also had white chocolate shells on it since we were married on the beach
Here's a picture:
Our top layer was coconut cake with lime curd middle and the bottom was spice cake with apple filling.
Wedding stuff.
Chocolate with chocolate gnash filling, and vanilla buttercream frosting.
My pip never work, I tried several times.
In Oct when we have a reception here we are going to have a desert table with a red velvet cake, pumpkin pie, and English deserts.
Bio
The bottom layer was funfetti with rainbow chip filling (my fav), the second layer was supposed to be chocolate with layers of strawberries and chocolate ganache filling but I ended up with strawberry cream crap instead of the strawberries (ugh), and the top two layers were strawberry with cheesecake filling. Vanilla buttercream over everything with sugar lilies.
My MIL made my cake and her friend made all the roses. I was very impressed with them, especially as it was their first wedding cake that they had ever made.
(I might have made the photo's size's off, so its a bit wonky)
But, it was chocolate cake with white choc buttercream, no marzipan or fondant anywhere (DH and I don't like it), and a ganache filling. It was delicious.
Wedding stuff.
haha, welcome to my home town!
We had four different German bakery type cakes.
One was a Strawberry
Another was Apple with I think Lingon berries in it.
The other two were chocolate and black forest.

Now Nesting from Chicago, IL My nail blog:
Because chocolate is my favorite and our wedding was really small, we had a mud chocolate cake with real chocolate frosting made by my BIL instead of a bakery. He even hand made beautiful white chocolate flowers for it. It was beautiful and delicious!
We had two small cakes that my mom made. One was white cake with vanilla buttercream, the other was yellow cake with strawberry filling and vanilla buttercream with fresh strawberries on top.
DH and I made all the sugarpaste decorations. The vanilla cake was covered in white daisies and purple calla lilies. The daisies were standing in for the roses that dried too quickly and broke.
I had a traditional Southern French wedding cake (at least the best I could get in Costa Rica...). I also had mini dessert shots (chocolate mousse, red berries, and tres leches). However, I didn't get to taste ANY of it, because they removed it while we were taking pictures!! I am still bitter about this. They owe me my dessert still!
I love all your cakes! Chrome won't let me post a picture but I think I have one on my Knot/Nest profile.
It was a really cool Corpse Bride cake that my MIL made. We had 4 layers and the favours were carrot, chocolate, red velvet and I forget the last one.
Your cake sounds so delicious! I love coconut and I love spiced apples. I want it!
We had vanilla cake with raspberry filling and buttercream frosting.
We didn't have a groom's cake.
We had three different cakes. One, the traditional wedding cake, was three layers, each with white cake with fresh raspberry filling, and covered in white buttercream.
The second cake was a groom's cake - chocolate cake, with chocolate buttercream, with a chocolate ganache filling...topped with chocolate covered strawberries.
The third cake was a small, sugar free cake for the people in DH's family that are diabetic (his father and nephew). It was made with sugar free buttercream and was a vanilla cake.
