Weekend Plans!

Re: Weekend Plans!

  • I'm very excited for this weekend.

**whispers** It looks like Kasa beat you to randoms Wink

And I beat you to editing the topic!  lol.

  • Tonight we are heading to a campground.  Hopefully we can find a tent before we go, otherwise we will just hang out with friends and then come home.  I'd really like to be able to spend the night in a tent though.  :)

Tomorrow is my company's picnic.  Looks like it's going to be a full day for me, as I volunteered to help out.

Sunday night we're going to a drive in movie!  H has next week off and I took Monday off for my birthday, so we can stay out late.

Monday H and I are going to sleep in, then go to Craig's Cruisers, then out to lunch at a local place that gives birthday people free food, then to the beach, then a nap, then out to dinner with my family at a different restaurant that gives free food to birthday people.  Should be a great day and weekend!

  • Hahaha, TN fail!

Or multitasking fail for me.  I'm posting here, all while checking email and FB on my phone.

Definitely TN fail.  It's weird about updating...

  • Right after work, I'm going to Founders for goodbye drinks with some CWs.

Our east side friends (aka my soon to be housemates) are coming for a visit and will probably meet us in GR.  We're planning to grill brats at Hoffmaster, wander Grand Haven (Coast Guard begins tomorrow so it should be interesting), the usual west MI summer stuff.

  • Sounds like a great weekend, Molly!

I'm not sure what all my plans are this weekend.  I'm hoping for a fairly low-key weekend though.

I'm going to a "happy hour yoga" class tonight.  I'm hoping I can sleep in tomorrow and then spend some time being lazy and reading a book.  I also want to get to the farmer's market.  B wants to go to Hopcat at some point this weekend, so we'll probably do that.

I thought about going blueberry picking on Sunday, but realistically, I probably won't be that ambitious.

  • Nothing much - yay!  A B&N and Costco run in the morning. I'm hoping that Brian can work on the kitchen counters a bit. I would love for this kitchen project to be DONE AND OVER WITH!

On Sunday, we are going to get up early and head to Holland State Park and let the girls play in the sand for a while. Allison is becoming a beach baby lately - she always wants to go.

I'm hoping to get caught up on some stuff like blog enteries, color my hair, check book balancing. blah blah blah

Tonight I have no plans.  Tomorrow will be either going to the beach or hanging by the neighbor's pool during the day, and then we have a summer BBQ party at a friend's house.  The hostess requested I bring a certain, fairly expensive dish. I'm kind of annoyed.  I did not plan on spending a ton of money for my dish to pass.  I was hoping to show up with a nice $5 homemade cake, not a $20-$25 dip.  She didn't even ask me directly, she asked Nick at his softball game last night.

What do you ladies think?  Should I suck it up and bring the dip (Greek Salsa: feta, tomato, avacado, onion, dressing.  It wouldn't be so bad, but I do not have any of these ingredients at home right now) or stick with my cake?

  • Wop, I think you should bring what you want.  I think it's kind of rude for a hostess to assign something indirectly like that or to dictate what people bring other than category of food.  Since you already have the ingredients and plan for the cake, I would just do that.

    Stick with the cake!

  • I have nothing planned except getting tail lights/blinker lights fixed tonight and going to a friends house tomorrow night.

  • Sleep! :) also we might try our first outing with J. Probably something super exciting like Target. Lol. We are working on breast feeding, and I am nervous about having to feed him while out.

I think you should contact the hostess, tell her you've got a great cake recipe that you were planning on for this weekend, and ask if it would be a huge problem if you brought that instead of salsa.

  • Mira, our first trip out with Allison was 10 days and was to Rivertown. We parked at Younkers to buy some new sheets and I made it down as far as the food court and had a snack. That was enough for me. It didn't help that Brian's idea of walking slow was much more different than my idea of walk slow post surgery.

It's not an awesome recipe though.  LOL.  It's box cake mix and store bought frosting Stick out tongue

If we weren't on such a tight budget right now with baby on the way it wouldn't be a huge deal, but I'm trying to save every penny we can.  If she would have asked me 2 weeks ago to bring the dish I could have budgeted it into my groceries.  Maybe I'm just being too cheap?

  • See, I'm feeling totally b!tchy about this and part of it is because we only hang out with super close friends and plan the menu and who's bringing what weeks in advance.

Anyhow, I think if she wanted you to bring something in particular, the time to request that is when she extends the invite.  "Hey we're having a bbq.  I just love your Greek salsa, would you mind bringing that?"  Two days before the party just isn't the time to make that request.  Most people have at least grocery shopped, if not made the dish by then (I made cheesecake for this weekend on Wednesday night).

Dude, I JUST posted on FB that we're going to Founders after work.  They have a new Froot beer on tap we're eager to try.  I'll keep my eyes out for ya!

  • Sweet, Juli!  I might have all of two CWs there with me, so it would be great to see you.Huh?
  • Wop - I would call her and say sorry, it was just short notice to get the dip together.  Besides cake, I would offer another option or two that you could bring and see what would work best.
  • Weekend Plans:  We WERE going to do a last minute trip to TC, but couldn't find a dog friendly rental for us and our friends.  It was spur of the moment, so I'm okay with staying home since we've been traveling a lot.

Today: Errands and then having a beer or two after work and relaxing.

Tomorrow:  Long run followed by brewing followed by more relaxing w/friends.

    Sunday:  Bike ride and broomball.

I'm actually thrilled our agenda is so open and that we're staying home. :-)

  • Tonight and tomorrow morning I work at the blood bank. Then Saturday afternoon I'm going to visit my parents with my BFF one more time before she leaves.

Sunday is shopping with BFF and her Aunt before her last get together before she lives to head back to NJ.

So keeping in mind that there was third party involved (aka the husband), is there a chance that maybe she was like "hey, "tell "WOP to bring her dip" as in like "hey I love her dip and want to eat it." not in as "TELL your wife she is assigned to bring this dip beacause I need it to complete the menu."  I wouldn't worry too much.  Do you have her email...can you email her and say something like "hey Nick came home and requested I bring such and such dip. I actually got a head start last night and got the stuff ready to make a cake. Next time, I will bring the dip. I'm glad you like it"

  • Our weekend plans include going to Blandford for SiteLab (temporary art gallery all over the grounds), farmers market and making dilly beans after, and maybe blueberry freezer jam.  I think I'll send Jim and the kids to his parents house for swimming tomorrow.  It's been a loud week, and I need some quiet time. On Sunday, the kids and I are going to my parents house.  I have a shower to go to and then some play time with my family (minus my Alaska cruising parents).

    1. Have you picked blueberries?  Where'd you go?

    2.  May I have your freezer jam recipe?  I was thinking about giving this a go.

  • Kasa, we have not picked yet.  I think that's today.  Though we might also just go to Kingma's and my 20 pounds of berries instead.

    2) No.  Because I don't have one.  I'm going to ask Shana for hers.

I should probably get on the ball for this project, eh? ;)

I love how you can live without a plan.  If it were me, I'd probably have a spreadsheet by now to compare the distance, cost, and pesticide useage of all of the blueberry farms in west Michigan.  Tongue Tied

This exchange made me smile. Yes
