I just saw someone die

The bike (motorcycle and scooter) drivers here act like they have some sort of death wish. I was just in a cab when traffic slowed a bit. I assumed it was just typical KL traffic, but the cabbie told me it looked like there had been an accident. I looked across the median and there was a guy lying in the middle of the center lane. As we drove by someone was putting a jacket over the guy's head. It had to have just happened because traffic was hardly backed up at all and the police weren't there. This is the first time I've seen a dead person who wasn't in a coffin. I'm still pretty shocked by it.

  • That's so awful, Publius. I'm sorry to hear that you had to see that. *hugs*
  • Awful.  I would be traumatized by that for a while.
  • What an awful thing to happen, and an awful thing to see. I'm sorry - hugs to you and T&P to the man's family.

  • So sorry you saw that.  The bike riders in SIngapore really scare me when they cut between cars and up through the lanes.
  • I'm sorry, Publius. That would freak me out a bit too. :/
  • That must have been really hard, I'm sorry.

  • That is a really horrible thing to see. We saw death a couple of times in China and it gets easier, but I remember being really shaken up by it the first time I saw someone die as well. (to be honest, it's always troubling)

Kind of makes you feel thankful for every day that you have.

    Hugs.

  • That's horrible.  I've seen injuries (and helped with the first aid), but never a death.  That would freak me out.
I like pineapples...they make life just so much more interesting.

  • I'm so sorry that happened and that you saw that. I would certainly be shaken up.  DH's office just moved further away from us and I'm secretly grateful as he is no longer riding his bike there because this is one of my big fears.

  • That's terrible Publius. I'm so sorry you had to witness that. It's sad enough that those accidents happen, but it's awful to have to witness it. (hugs)

  • I am sorry that you had to see that. I once saw a mutiple car pile up with kids coming back from their Matric dance (SA version of the prom) and there must have been at least 8 or 9 dead bodies lying all over the road and kids crying everywhere. I just burst out crying when I saw it and carried on crying for about 2 hours after, it was a huge shock. Also when I was young and we were on our way to a holiday destination we drove past 2 kids that were dead on the road, they had been travelling in the back of their parents caravan that had been in an accident. Both incidents have stuck with me forever, if I think about it, then I can still see them and burst out crying. Its one of those triggers for me.

  • That's awful.  It reminds you just like that, it can all be over.  Sad   What a horrible day it is going to be for his family.   I can't....

Maybe the poor biker wasn't even being reckless.

My H and I ride our bikes everywhere. He does crazy stuff sometimes, and I always try to remind him that there is nowhere anyone needs to be that badly that you risk your life and our family for it.   Just be late.

Sorry you had to see that.

  • Oh no, how awful hon.

  • Wow that must have been so scary.  I know I would have been completely shaken up - to be honest I'm a little surprised I haven't seen something similar here, but it would scare the crap out of me no matter what.  *hugs*
