I'm starting this because I need to vent about my SIL (again).

So, five years ago or so, SIL wanted a dog. Her exH (BF at the time) got her a dog for her birthday. He's a great dog and everything was fine up until a year ago. Her and her exH had split up and she moved downstate for a job. She said she couldn't take care of the dog anymore, so she left him with her parents (which they didn't really appreicate, but they're taking care of him nonetheless).
So now, of course, she has this new boyfriend and apparently they're quite serious. And now they're getting a puppy! She already abandoned one dog because she didn't have time for it, and now she's getting a puppy with her new guy? She's so impulsive, it drives me crazy.
Sorry to start the randoms off this way. I just needed to vent.

Wow. I would NOT be able to keep my mouth shut. Even if it was to say something simple about dog #1 "What about Rover?"
Dogs are not accessories! They're animals that need to be loved and taken care of!
Kasa - I don't know how you can control yourself with her! Um, kudos for having willpower?
Boardwalk Empire is awesome. I have only seen the first episode and am antsy to watch the second. I need to wait for a time to watch it with Mike though.
This past weekend we parked at Kouw park and road our bikes to New Holland Brewing, had a beer and a pizza and then rode back to the park. 19 miles round trip. Turns out there is a tiny beach here - we didn't realize when we first picked the parka s a starting point. We climbed over the tiny dune and jumped in Lake Michigan in our cycling clothes. We always bring a change for after a ride so not a big deal. Next time we are bringing suits though, it was the perfect way to end a hot bike ride.
B and I love Boardwalk Empire! It only gets better as the season goes on. We're antsy for the new season to start.
Kasa - Wow. I probably wouldn't have been able to hold my tongue at that news. How frustrating.
Hoek - We can't wait until Boardwalk Empire is available for us to rent (since we don't get HBO). I also sent your bike trip outline to my H, because it sounded amazing. :-)

Sorry, I can't use it as a pro though. I haven't gotten it in over a year due to the particular BC I'm on. I can still relate though. I've gotten so used to not having it. It would/will totally suck to start that again after this nice long break!

Yay! Mike and I are already looking forward to doing it again.
It was a pretty fast ride. A couple of little hills at the start/end to make it interesting and a bike path/oversized sidewalk extends all the way. Once we needed to get off the path and wind our way to the restaurant, it was very easy to navigate.
True, I kinda forgot about that. Well, for me it was a pro of being pregnant and breastfeeding for sure!
It is at the intersection of Van Buren and Lakeshore drive north of Holland.
There is an older playground, shaded picnic tables and restroom/changing rooms. If you walk over a small dune, you will get to the beach. It is super small and a sign said it was for township residents only, but no one was there to enforce that.

Were moving some things into the office today. Tonight we will have recording session! So this is pretty big for us. My BFF leave today to go back to NJ. Sad Deeder but happy Mr. Deeder as he get his wife back again.
Kasa: If I were her parents I would be royally P.Oed and would be dropping the current dog off to her right now. Also I'm like you but hadn't had a visit from "flo" for almost 5 years.
Hoek: I've heard good things about Boardwalk. Like Juli I'm waiting for the first season to be released.
Amach: Is it normal to go 22 months or so with out her visiting after giving birth?
I just stopped breastfeeding about 2 months ago, so that is why it is finally coming back. I had taken BC back to back three months before my wedding to avoid her coming on my honeymoon. Surprise...we get pregnant on our honeymoon
so I never got it. Then I breastfed for 8 1/2 months (which for me, delayed AF) and it is finally coming back 22 months later!

I don't think you're being overly sensitive at all. That's a really inappropriate thing to say.
I can see why you are upset, however trying picture the sentence to say "We are so glad that S is able to experience the joys of pregnancy and parenthood." I'm guessing with your history and the "unsureness" of this happening, that is what they meant, they just didn't think clearly about how to convey that thought properly.
FWIW, I had tears in my eyes when you announced you were pg. I was so happy that everythings worked out in favor of you getting pregnant and didn't have that opportunity taken away from you.
MH likes Boardwalk Empire too.
You guys reminded me that I should check craigslist for a new bike. Mine sucks.
Oh dear about the SIL and the new puppy. Oh, oh my. Which reminds me, did you guys hear that story from Lansing about a woman who had her cat on the porch with her on a leash, a lady walking a pitbull broke free, and started attacking the cat, so the cat owner got a gun and shot the dog on her porch. She's being charged with illegal discharge of a firearm or something. And then the MSU medical student who is being charged with killing 10 dogs (animal abuse).
Mira, the card comment seems weird. Like really, that's all they could think to write in there? Sorta strange.

I'm sorry you recv'd a card like that. Weird. It'd be one thing if someone said it and you could attribute it to poor off the cuff wording. The fact that it is in a card makes it is worse.
Throw the card away and don't think about it again! You have better things to focus on right now, like your sweet baby!!
I didn't hear about those Lansing stories. Wow. Both are really sad.

I guess it would depend on who wrote it. If it was an 'older' person (you know people your parents or grand-parents age) I would ignore it because they seem to have the "Well it's about time!" mentality when us young folk don't pop out a baby 9 months after the wedding- no matter the reason (health, career, IF, etc.). KWIM? Sometimes people just don't think though.
