My sweet, little Violet is one years old today!  Cake  I wish I was at home with her celebrating!

Happy Birthday to little Violet!  Are you doing anything fun for the first birthday?

We had a party for her on Saturday that was super fun, and I'm hoping to go out for ice cream or something tonight when I get home from work.  She will like that.

Ok, tell me if I am being overly sensitive or not.  In one of our Congrats on Baby cards that we received, someone wrote "we are glad S was finally able to get PG."  Indifferent  I know I am overly hormonal right now, but his just really upset me.

I don't think you're being overly sensitive at all.  That's a really inappropriate thing to say.

I can see why you are upset, however trying picture the sentence to say "We are so glad that S is able to experience the joys of pregnancy and parenthood."  I'm guessing with your history and the "unsureness" of this happening, that is what they meant, they just didn't think clearly about how to convey that thought properly.

FWIW, I had tears in my eyes when you announced you were pg. I was so happy that everythings worked out in favor of you getting pregnant and didn't have that opportunity taken away from you.

Yeah... I think you are right. It was poor word choice on their part.

  • Up north with the in laws for a week. Trying not to snap at H's selfish, biiiitchy aunt. She keeps looking at my kid like she's a nuisance and giving me parenting advice. Really? Your 19 year old son has been in jail 3 times already and both of your children moved out at 15 to live with their grandma. I'll get right on taking notes of your parenting successes :eye roll:

Take her to Red Robin for dinner, you will get a free ice cream sundae and they will sing to her. Big Smile We did that for Amelia and she got a big grin on her face. She thought it was very cool that people were singing to her.

    Happy Birthday Violet.

Yeah... she doesn't sound like the best person to be doling out advice.  Hope you're having lots of fun anyway, though!

We are having fun. Eating lots of good food, swimming, taking walks... I read an entire book yesterday. Ha!

  • I am jealous of all you people not getting your periods for extended lengths of time...I get mine every four weeks instead of three, and I thought that was doing good!

  • Wow, Violet is a year already!! Happy Birthday to that little cutie!

I got an estimate to fix my wedding ring set. $600!!!! WTF! I know there old but Holy Moly. I'm missing 1 prong and the other 3 are worn. The lady at Helzburg told me my bands are different sizes and looked at me like it's my fault. Jeepers lady the set is from the 1940's. So yeah they want $600 to restore them to "like new" status.

Other random: I got a card for my BFF who leaves to day. I wrote a litter to go inside of it thanking her for her friendship and had to walk away 3 times b/c I started to cry.

Take it to a non-chain jeweler, to someone who is a jewelry maker, not just some guy who repairs and sizes all day.  Russel & Ballard is a good one IMO.  When I took my first e-ring there to get a second opinion on something the guy was knowledgable and honest with me.  I never ended up getting work done because the original jeweler let me replace the ring with something else, but if I were looking to get something repaired I would totally take my stuff there to get quoted.
