    Dear DH,

I'm sorry you fgot your feelings hurt this morning by me saying that I was looking forward to a full night's sleep tonight and you took it to mean that I was glad we didn't have SD tonight but I asked you first thing yesterday to call the dr and make her another appt for her ears and you didn't and I was up again with her all night.  I'm not sure what part of my doctor telling me it was important to get a full night of sleep you missed but I can't do another night of up all night while you snore.  I even tried waking you up like you told me to do and it didn't work so get over it!

Welcome to Motherhood!  Sleepless nights, sick kids and sometimes having to do it yourself even though you ask DH to.  Strap in, it's a bumpy ride!

    :)

Oh I agree and I understand this but my doctor called Friday and said that I needed to be sure I was getting plenty of rest because I was having some issues last week that are from not sleeping enough.  DH was really worried and told me I needed to go to bed earlier and take naps during the day but then Sunday and Monday I was up with the kiddo.  He tried last night and got up with her the first time but didn't hear anything else after that.  I'm normally always the one up with her when she is sick.  I know sometimes a mommy's touch is just better than daddy's and even though I'm not her mommy when she is sick she takes to me like no one else.

I have no problem with that but when I have high blood pressure and I'm having small anxiety attacks throughout the day from trying to do it all I need to stop and starting taking care of myself too.

  • I am no Sherlock Holmes by any means but we had a semi frequent poster (MrsR-something) that seems to have just disappeared.  I get people come and go but what's weird to me is that her last post, that I remember, was about her meeting someone new to the board, J-something.  And that was J-Something's first and last post on the nest.  This happened early/mid-June.  I've been wondering about this for awhile but today I looked more into it and that's what I found out.

  • Dear OMHs:

I'm sorry that the incident at BABC has made it's way here and "tainted" an event that really means so much to many of you. I truly hope that nothing more happens and that this can just be dropped and forgotten about.

I never noticed that, but that sounds kind of strange...

  • I know it's random and out of no where but I needed to say to it someone...

One of our patient's isn't going to make it. They did all they could and he has a few months. He's such a nice man and his wife is super sweet. Reminds me what's important, but more I just feel so bad for them.

  • Dear Nesties,

I have been so "off" the last week or so. I'm tired no matter how much sleep I get, DH and I just aren't in sync like we normally are, and I need to find a new job like whoa. There is a chance that I may not have employment once the semester starts, as all part time jobs are considered temporary. I think I'm probably safe because my current and former supervisors have said they'll keep me here as long as they can, and I have great performance reviews to back me up, but it still has me worried.

    S/O employment,

Has anyone ever gone to a Career Center? Especially the UNT one? I need some advice trying to figure out what transferable skills I have and what kinds of jobs outside of libraries I might be qualified for, but I don't know if a trip to the Career Center is worth the time or not.

I don't have any experience with the UNT career center, but you may want to look into Career Connections in Dallas.  They are an organization that helps people find jobs, and I think has someone that you can talk to about skills as well.

As for being "off", I totally hear you.  DH and I were like that last week.  I don't know what the deal was, but we were fighting every day about stupid stuff.  And just general snarkyness.  If finally ended last Thursday with a HUGE blowup about cutting up the turkey breasts he had just grilled for dinner.  (Stupidest fight ever) Besides the fact that I am never cooking that again, we finally moved past the weirdness.  I decided this week it was because of the heat.  :)

Yes.  MrsR was meeting the JHarrison person one weekend and neither have been back to the boards, or The Nest at all from what I can tell.  Mrs.R has her stuff private but when you search, there hasn't been anything since she announced they were getting together.  I thought it was weird when she announced they were getting together but to each their own.

  • I will definitely try that to clean my rings!

Also, I can't believe all that crap from BABC has escalated like it has.  She is being ridiculous and needs to grow up.

On another note, we are looking at moving when our lease is up.  He works in Richardson and I work in Coppell.  Any good suggestions on places to move that aren't super expensive?  I thought about looking into Carrollton.

At this point, I think going to the Career Center would be worth a shot.  You are on campus so it wouldn't be that far out of the way.  I've never been, considered it recently, though.  I just use their online stuff.

I know you have a specific area you want to be in but have you thought anymore about branching out?

    Already Have :)

  • Michelle - Thanks, I will check out that group! And I think you're right about the heat. Yesterday he was late picking me up from work, and I was waiting outside. I think my blood was literally boiling. Wink

Jaymi - Yes, at this point I'm applying for all kinds of jobs in higher education, not just libraries. I just don't know what I'm qualified for outside of that, and I need help figuring it out. I'd be willing to do something else, but I need to make enough to pay for the degrees that I won't be using Smile

Sarah - I live in Carrollton, too, and grew up there! I give it a big Yes

  • Sarah - I live in Carrollton too.  I really like the area we live in (in apartments), but the houses right near us are pretty pricey.  I do think there are some better priced houses in the rest of the town though.
  • Dear HR-

When you tell me that all I need to submit are items A.B and C, it really ticks me off when I get a follow up email telling me that because I didn't submit item D that I have an incomplete application and it will not be forwarded to the department.  Grrr.

You can probably get a reasonable rental house there ...but yeah, buying .. you don't get a ton for your money.   Everything respectable (and free of foundation problems) was well over $100/sf.   You can get nearly twice the house for the price up in Allen/McKinney/Frisco/Plano.... but for us the convenient location was worth it.

  • Sarah, I just remembered that there are some duplexes in our neighborhood, and there's usually at least one available for rent. I'm not sure how much they are, but I can see if they have a flyer or something for you if you want.
  • Dear Fudge,

You were a wonderful dog for 11 years and I'm sorry you were so sick & uncomfortable the last couple of months. Today was really hard, but I'm glad that you aren't in pain anymore.

I graduated from UNT a few years ago and found the career center semi-helpful (maybe it has changed). I found the tests that had online helpful in determining my strengths & what careers may be suited to them. They used to have a pretty good job search part to their website (DFW employers & alumni would post available jobs).

Thank you. It wasn't 100% unexpected but still sucks. Plus I'm stressed out with the move stuff so it kind of makes it worse.
