SA Wednesday

I don't think I've ever been up early enough to start a daily thread.  Something is wrong with me.  But, good morning!  Whatcha got to say today?

Re: SA Wednesday

  • Haha. I am always up early. I was hoping someone else would start today!

I cannot believe our 1st anniversary is in less than 2 weeks!

  • Good morning Angie and yay for anniversaries coming up.

My birthday is now officially less than a month away and I am super excited.  This is a big birthday for me, ever since I was about 18 I always wanted to be closer to 30.  Now that I am going to be 26 I feel like I am over the hump and closer to 30 than 20.  I am sure that seems odd but in my profession I often here wow you are so young when people find out my age and it gets a little old.

  • Summer - are y'all doing anything special to celebrate?

    BL - Happy Birthday Month!

I am so sore today - last night was Day 2 of 30DS.  DH told me last night, "You should have asked me to do it with you." So, I convinced him to start tonight.  We don't have any dumbells for him though, so I'm going to pick some up today... what weight should I get?  He doesn't work out much, but his job is pretty physical so he's in decent shape.

JM recommends 3-5 pound weights for beginners to 30 DS. Tiffany is a BAMF and has been doing it with 10 pound weights. LOL.

My cousin is dating my BIL and she told me last night that my MIL told my BIL that he should marry my cousin because then she would have beautiful grandchildren. My cousin told me in a "can you believe this, we are only dating!" way but it stung a little. Thanks for the confidence in your actually already married son and his wife to produce a beautiful grandchild. MIL is normally very nice to me, so I doubt she meant it this way but it's no secret my cousin is very pretty and my whole life I've gotten the Leslie is smart/cousin is beautiful comments. :(

  • *Bows to Tiffany in her 10-pound goddessness* Wow, just wow.  My 3-pounders kill me haha.  I was thinking 5's for him, but maybe I'll get a little heavier.  It's going to be a little surprise, so I can't just ask him.  PS, when I told him he should do it with me, but that I didn't have weights for him, he responded with, "That's okay, I'll just use The Crispin" (who weighs about 6 pounds).  I reminded him we only have one Crispin, and he'd need two weights.  I love that silly man.

Leslie, that stinks - but I really doubt that your MIL meant it that way... but that certainly doesn't take any of the sting out, I know.  You just wait, though, you're going to give her the prettiest dam grandchild she could ever hope for!

  • This is for my teachers in the house... and well, all of you really.  :)

I just completely solidified my love for Matt Damon in 1 minute, 9 seconds.  The passion in his eyes talking about this is awesome!

  • DH's cousin just got back from Iraq. Glad he got home safetly! Not sure if he has to do another tour or not, I hope not.

Only drawback...him and his wife have an 8 month old baby (his name is Levi and OH so adorable)...which gives MIL grandmother fever and she starts in on me and DH about having a baby. Last time she was around the baby a while, she had DH convinced we should have one so she can have a grandchild. Don't get me wrong, I love babies....I just don't want one of my own.

TOO cute! My DH (and he would kill me for this) calls our dog The Baby Titan. He rarely calls him just Titan. I don't really know why exactly but I think it's because he was our first baby. :)

  • It was 86* in our house last night at 10, the heat (and the change in BC) is making me super irritable and possibly driving me to the crazy house.
  • Good Morning!

I spent all last night watching Shark Week shows. I am terrified of sharks, but couldn't seem to stop watching. It seriously is not going to help my irrational fear at all!!!

Leslie - That is awful about your MIL, but I'm sure that she meant "MORE" beautiful children. She's already got you, so she's trying to recruit more beautiful babymakers Big Smile  To make you feel better, I could tell you stories about MY dear ol' MIL, whose statements leave no room for interpretation and are not said with the best of intentions....

    Happy Wednesday everyone!

Hahahahahahaha.. that's funny.   I did level 2 last night with my 10 pounders... oddly, it was easier than Level 1.

Angie -  I would probably buy him 10's... or maybe 8's if your worried.    Orrr you could always buy him 5's ... so you will have something to bump up to as you get stronger. :)

  • Good morning ladies!

YAY for bdays, anniversaries, working out and whatever else I missed.

Leslie, psshhtt to you MIL.  You're baby is going to be beautiful! :)

We had to put out soaker hoses last night and fire ants got my big toe. GRRR

ETA:  I have no idea why this font is different.  LOL I just noticed it.

  • I forgot to make DH's lunch today :(

I was just exhausted and I didn't realize it until this morning after he left.

Ettiquette question: My cousin is having a baby in November. I am making her shower cakes and was going to get her a small gift as well. Last night I was thinking about it and I could get her a metric ton of diapers, wipes, baby products etc. for the same amount of money I was going to spend on the gift, thus netting her a much better gift cost-wise. Is it bad to coupon and get her these things?

Just for prettiness and cake loving sake --

Her shower cupcakes are going to look like this with pink and purple flowers:

    image

She bought this for her nursery, so I am thinking about doing something like this on her cake with the little flowers and pearls as well.

Ditto!  I have an appt to talk to my PA about switching BC.  I'm tired of being on this pill, and it has made me a mad-woman.  I'm also going to talk about a mole on my back (thanks to all the talk from you guys Smile)  I'm hoping switching up the crazy pills should bring some relief to poor DH.

Those cupcakes are beautiful!! I think the idea of getting all the baby "necessities" is a great one.  You don't have to tell her you couponed them :)

  • Not much going on here.  Summer I can't believe it's almost been a year since your wedding!

OUCH to the fire ants!  No fun!

Leslie you will have pretty babies!  And I don't think it's wrong to use a coupon for a gift.  I have used them before at BBB when I'm buying wedding presents so I can get them a better gift without going over the budget.  If someone got me a ton load of diapers and wipes I'd be pretty excited about it now that I see how much they are.  Oh and awesome cake idea!

  • Leslie - The "baby fluff" is fun but the essentials are WAY better!  Trust me!

And the cake is super cute... and I really love the chandelier idea on the big cake!  I need to start hiring you for all things cake.  Ha!

Leslie- I'm pretty good at making diaper cakes, if you would like me to make one using all the neccessities (sp?).

  • Leslie - 1, I love the cupcakes.  2, I also love the chandelier on the cake idea.  3, Lots of people put their talents to use for a gift.  It's not about how much a person spends on the gift - have you ever received a handmade gift that didn't cost more than $5, but you loved it more than everything else you received that day?  I think your couponing would be similar.  If I were on the receiving end, I'd be pumped to get all that stuff - and even more excited to know how much you didn't spend on it, if you're close enough to talk about money with your friend.  If you're concerned about looking cheap or something like that, maybe don't wheel a pallet of diapers in during the middle of the shower but instead present it to her before or after.  But, I say put your talents to use, and give that momma something she'll really use!

I second, third or whatever the fact that you will make beautiful and smart babies.  Regarding the diapers I think that is a great idea.  We used to do this at my old job because everyone wants to buy all the cutsie thing (guilty) but then the parents are left to spend a crap ton on diapers and wipes.  We used to get a large range of sizes and usually fill up the trunk of a car and it was always much appreciated so I say go for it.

  • Ditto on the diapers! I always buy people diapers and clothing that is larger than newborn because I know thats what the will really need...and a diaper cake would be an awesome way to make it "personal" :)

I got a towel cake at my wedding shower and it was so cute!
  • Leslie-  I think your gift idea is a great one!  I will also have to hire you one day when I am brave enough to have a baby!!!

I am too, so maybe we can combine our talents and make one mega diaper cake!

Also, I agree with everyone else that it's not bad etiquette to use coupons on her gift. Especially since it will be on things that she will go through so quickly.

That's the other weird thing.  It was cooler upstairs than downstairs.  Heat rises, right?  And it being 86 was in the coolest room downstairs; our bedroom is usually a sauna and not in a good way.  We are looking at replacing them next year or something.
