Re: AW/Chit Chat

  • I don't know if you girls use Facebook Groups, but just in case you post on the wall of any group, make sure it is something you are comfortable with everyone on your feed knowing.

Facebook has now made it where posts made to the wall of "public" groups are published in all of your friend's news feeds. I noticed it last week when I started seeing all of these "You know you're from Powderly, TX when..." posts from one friend and I was not a group member and couldn't figure out why I could see them. It happened again today with another friend on a different group so I googled it. I imagine this could get awkward if it's a group for something you wouldn't want everyone to know and it posted to your feed. Just a PSA.

  • Amanda - That is so awesome of your DH

Courtney- I still havent changed my name (bad wife)

    Stephie- Yay for Vegas

My AW is that Matt is on day 4 of this temp job and is loving it, there is a slight possibility the lady he is filling in for wont be able to come back so he may get to keep it.  The bad thing is I think he will be pretty sad if it ends though.

I left my cell phone at home and I HATE it.

Remember when I was in a spat with BFF?  She posted something on a mutual friend's wall about our fight and I saw it.  I FB messaged her and was like, "thanks alot."  She didn't know I could see it either.  But actually, it was a blessing because it opened up the communication again and we made up.

    I think it's a terrible feature actually.

  • Sarah - Yay for the video!

Amanda - That was awesome of your DH to take them to the hospital.

Stephie - Hope you have a blast in Vegas!!

I think we've decided on the Melting Pot for DH's birthday in 14 days.  I might be more excited about it then he is.

  • A maintenance guy just came through and turned off 90% the lights on our floor - we're conserving energy.  It's still bright enough to work, because we have a lot of windows.  I actually like it kind of dim like this, and I love that we're doing something to help with the power demand :)
  • Thanks ladies!

    To everyone with AWs... congrats!

FB thing... Can you do a privacy setting on that now?

Also, Stephie that's great y'all made up!!

  • Yesterday my boss asked me if  married women took offense when he said, "Hey Miss Suzie!" instead of "Hey Mrs. Suzie!"

I said that I doubted people even thought about it and that I was guilty of it too since Miss is quicker/easier to say than Mrs.

Then he looked at me and said, "You are probably right, but I knew you wouldn't be offended since you didn't even take DH's last name!"

Oh brother...He must think I am feminist extraordinaire.

The last time I ate there, I left the fullest (and most miserable) I think I have ever been.  And that is saying alot.

I'd like to AW my DH!  Last night around 8:30, I get a phone call from my neighbor/BF and she is freaking out crying saying to come over. So DH & I ran across the street to find her hovered over her 2 yr old twin boy.  He had fallen off the bed and hit his head on the corner of the night stand.  He had a gash in the lower back part of his head.  So DH drove them to Ft. Worth Cook's while I stayed with the twin girl.  By the time they got back it was midnight.  He ended up with 4-5 staples and is doing fine.  I am just so proud of my DH for stepping up and taking care of them!  He melts my heart!

    Big Smile

Also, I'm officially not having a very good week.  I am trying to remain optimistic.  It's hard.

:(. I hope your week starts looking up, even though it's almost over!

Brianna-That sounds like something I would have said.

I would never get offended about something like that. That's dumb.

A few months after we got married if one of my friends said "hey miss Summer" I would joke with them and say "hey that's Mrs. to you now!" but it was a joke and really only because it was so new, being married.

  •  I need to vent.

I think there's a polite way to say, "Go me, I've lost 20lbs" and a not so polite way that comes off pretty cocky.

I have a friend who just recently got into CrossFit and it's all she talks about, and I'm sick of hearing about it. She basically talks about how any other method of working out is pointless, and almost "lesser" of a workout, and how she doesn't eat this, or that anymore, and I'm just thinking "Okay, good for you. Do you want a cookie?"

Oh wait...you can't eat those anymore.

She makes comments on facebook frequently about people who don't eat as well as she does. I just think that's a little much. It's great you want to change your diet, it's a bit drastic IMO, but good for you. However, don't judge others who choose not to follow any so called "diet" restrictions on a daily basis, or who use "bs cardio machines" as she calls them to workout.

    Vent over.

  • Summer, that is ridiculous.  Nobosy should ever belittle another person's efforts at being healthier/losing weight/working out/etc!  It's crushing to someone who is trying hard in a way they think is best, and there are so many different opinions out there on what's the best way to go about being healthier - and they all depend on what your current situation is and what your goals are.  I think this friend has some deeper "I'm better than everyone else" issues going on here, and if I had to guess, this might not be her first venture that she's better at than the rest of the world. Just a guess though.

I just had the most delicious leftovers, and splurged and had a Coke.  I haven't had a lunchtime coke in ages, and I feel like such a cheater :)

  • Oh my Summer... I totally agree.  That would annoy enough to hide her on FB.  :)

My air conditioner in my car went out yesterday on the way home from work.  DH just called to find out how much it would cost to repair it... $500. UGH

  • Good Morning!!

We just applied for a house yesterday!! I am crossing my fingers and hoping for the best. We've already been burned before on another property, and I really REALLY love this house. I don't want to lose it.

Oh, and the funny part is that DH hasnt seen it yet. He's traveling so much that he just said, "I trust you. Find us a house!"

And if we get it, then there will be lots of home stuff I'm going to have to buy..... Tongue Tied

  • Oh Angie you are absolutely right. She has a larger than life "I'm better than everyone" complex. She's a "one upper."

I've always known this about her. It's just the way she is, and will always be. I accept it. And most of the time I let it roll off my back. But today it annoyed me.

Although it's annoying, she is a very caring and genuine friend. One of the few that has stuck by me since HS so I think that's why I put up with her crap. Hahah. But it doesn't mean I don't get annoyed from time to time!

I sent the invite.  It may take a bit of time as they are rate limiting the number of people who can sign up in a day.

I was going to say exactly this. And well said on everything else - I feel exactly the same way.

The type of person who is black & white with a weight loss journey is the same person who typically burns out quickly. They take it to extremes and can't maintain it for a lifetime.

    So yeah. Have a cookie.

  • Summer - I too, have a friend who was a Crossfitter .... and she wasnt' as obnoxious but really had an attitude about how superior her workout was compared to everyone else.   I think they must be some kind of cult. ;-)

To be fair, though, they do seem to give some pretty dang awesome results. Fast.

Funny you say they're a cult because she just told me today she doesn't hang out with many of her "old friends" anymore, and now her friends are all CF people.

She lives in another state and is coming home to visit this month. Hope she doesn't try to recruit me. I'll resist!

ETA: yes. With a diet like that you're bound to see fast results. No dairy, no alcohol, no grains, no legumes... I could go on.

Yeah... That doesn't sound fun to me!

Ha ha!   I believe it is very expensive... the girl I knew had to quit because it cost so much.

ETA: Yeah, some of the things she "gave up" were things that I've always to known to be a necessary part of a healthy diet.   I thought it was odd.

She also gained every pound of the weight back and then some when she quit.

I flat out said "and you're going to do this for the rest of your life?"

She claimed yes on most things, except once the "challenge" portion was over she may incorporate some cheese back into her diet, and a glass or two of wine every now and then.

I really wanted to say "well, hate to burst your bubble, but I've lost 13 lbs using a 'bs csrdio' machine and not going on a diet over the last few months...soooo, hows about that. Booyah"

But I refrained. I don't try to compete with my friends even when they clearly ask for it.

  • Ok, I was about to Google Crossfit...until you told me I can't eat anything.

Booking the Four Seasons tonight!  Yayyyy!  But this probably means no new kitchen, boo.

  • Hello all! Hope everyone's Thursday is going well :-).

I'm in need of some good vibes today -- I have an interview at 4 for a middle school English Language Arts position!  I've only taught first grade so I'm pretty nervous!!

  • Thanks Summer.  I keep telling myself that I'm glad it's Thursday.  :)

I do not do well on diets that are so restrictive.  I can cut back or switch to a healthier type of said food, but I get really pissy if I have to cut it out completely.

I want to try out the new google thing.

ETA: BL - I'm glad Matt likes the job, I hope it turns into a permanent position!  :)
