Anyone elope or have a super small wedding and regret it?

We had 15 guests, and a fantastic dinner (no dancing) in a resort town. I didn't tell anyone what to wear (no wedding party) . It was PERFECT. For us.

I wish that I had a smaller wedding. I have been maried to DH for five years and I can think of about 30 people on our guest list that we do not even talk to now.

We had 62 people at our destination wedding. I guess that is small by most standards, but we had all the wedding trimmings; flowers, photographs, music, dancing and a cake.

I thought a small wedding would mean inexpensive- but trust me you can rack up a big bill for 62 people! Especially if they can put away the cocktails...

We had a little over 30 guests, and I don't regret it for a second. What I DO regret is spending so much on our honeymoon. At the time, we justified the cost of the honeymoon because of how much we saved on the wedding. Now that we're preparing to buy our first house, I realize that the money we spent on the honeymoon could have covered the majority of the upgrades we want to do the house.

We had 50 ppl and I don't regret it at all. I had all of the ppl who I am closest to there and I had time to spend with each person individually. Dh's first wedding has something like 200-300 ppl and he said it was a nightmare. He didn't even get to talk to anyone and he was so busy making the rounds he didn't have time to enjoy himself.

No regrets. DH, me, my parents, his parents. City Hall. Friday afternoon. Perfect.

There are two moments that give me the warm fuzzies every time I think of them:

-going through the metal detectors to get into City Hall, I put my bouquet on the belt to go through the x-ray machine. The security guard picked it up and handed it back to me before it went through and said, "Some things are sacred."

-after we got married we (just DH and I) got in the elevator to go downstairs. There was a guy already in there and he said, "I've been married 7 years. Each day is better than the last."

We had 50 people, outdoor ceremony by the river and reception at a nice restaurant (same location as ceremony) we did the photographer, drink tickets (no one went without, I know this isn't a popular thing on mm) a photographer, 3 cream puff towers instead of a cake and iPod dj. My only regrets were even attempting dancing, most of my guests were older, and much of dhs family flew in from Hong Kong and didn't speak English overly well so our families didn't interact a much as I would have liked. Also I wish I spent less times doing pictures and more time talking to my guests. Total bill was around 8500.

We had a planned elopement because I was terrified of being the center of attention. I still don't regret eloping, but I regret the way we did it. I wish we had invited immediate family and close friends. I wish I had worn a nicer dress, had flowers, gotten my hair and nails done, etc. We pretty much showed up at the courthouse, then had Chinese in our hotel room while watching the Obama/McCain debate.

I think that sounds just lovely, and what I wish my wedding would have been like!

I had planned to have a small ceremony or got to the courthouse until my mom got involved. I had a big wedding that my mom paid for but now I wish she could have just given us the money for a down payment on our house. I like looking at the wedding pics and all the guests but I would rather have the money right now. Do what you feel is best for you.

Divorced here - had a small, 50 people, traditional afternoon wedding.

Next time, I'm going to do one of four options - married at my parents house and go to a nice dinner afterwards/winery wedding/Sandals in Jamaica/or a planned, small wedding in Vegas with family.

All options would include a fabulous dress, a photographer, and some good food. I could care less about the rest of the tradition.

Do what YOU want. I gave into my mom last time and I told her, if/when I re-marry, it will be on my terms. She just wants to be there when I pick out the dress this time.
