just another manic monday

good morning, ladies.

first and foremost, BREW, CONGRATS ON KICKING A$$ THiS WEEKEND!  You killed it!

i am so tired.  had a nice weekend, got to explore VT with Mr. G, saw Harry Potter, slept in, went to dinner, watched a cute movie, cleaned the house band got in a great run.  It was kind of nice not having perfect sunny weather so we could do something other than laying at the beach or tubing the river.

had a tough time sleeping last night, so i'm super tired this am.  I already cannot wait for this coming weekend so I can sleep a little more!  but i will settle for 9 tonight so i can go to bed early and catch up on my Zzzz's :)

Re: just another manic monday

  • Good Morning!

I am also super tired this morning. We registared yesterday at Babies R US and I spent the whole night stressing about the decisons we made about the car seat, if we registared for the right bottles, ect. Wedding restriaring is so much more fun then for a baby. I'm sure I will spend all day fiddling with it online at work.

Besides that we had a pretty relaxing weekend. Counting down the days till next weekend when we will be on vacation.

  • I echo Shauni on congrats to Brew.  How do you feel today?

I am tired too, but mostly because it was a busy busy weekend.  My parents stayed with us the whole weekend.  I had dinner in the crockpot Friday so I didn't have to scramble when I got home from work.  Cleaned up the kitchen, loaded & ran the dishwasher, visited a bit and then hit the sack.

Up early saturday morning.  Unloaded & reloaded dishwasher, washed, dried & folded 2 loads of laundry, made breakfast for everyone, cleaned the bathroom, showered and then hit the music festival in town.  Rained the whole time we were there, so we came home, let Baby Q sleep for about an hour and then headed out for K's cousin's birthday.  Got home around 11 and zonked out again.

Yesterday I was so sick from something I ate Saturday.  Made french toast for breakfast and then vegged out with my icky stomach.  Showered after lunchtime and went to BJ's and spent waaaay too much money.  Put it all away at home and still didn't feel good so I skipped dinner and slept on the couch with Baby Q.  And here we are all over again.

  • Morning all!  I'll jump on the exhausted bandwagon.  But I'm just happy to be moving around and functioning.  Perhaps I'll post a post-race recap a la Health & Fitness Nesties style.

Saturday night was the Rockies game.  Super fun, I'd never sat on that side of the stadium and we were only 23 rows up.  Got to see my bf Dexter Fowler up close when he tripled.  They ended up winning 15-7.  Crazy baseball score.  DH tried to get me drunk so I wouldn't do the tri.  Failure on his part.  I did realize that 6 years ago to the day, I was at Coors Field (for my HS reunion, yes, old lady here) and the next day was my FIRST tri.  Creepy deja vu.

Sunday was the triathlon, which I did.  Afterwards, took the best shower ever, best nap ever and had a steak dinner (which was meh).  Finished reading Water For Elephants then picked MIL up at the airport and called it a weekend.

PS: Shauni, I forgot to ask on FB, what do you use for your blisters?  BodyGlide works wonders and I use it everywhere and anywhere that rubbing/chafing can occur.

  • Piggybacking on the congrats to Brew! That's freakin' awesome lady!

I'm still at home (oops?) and about to get ready and head to to the schools. Fortunately, it's the first day of school for the kiddos so it's going to be a chaotic mess and with me at three schools and no set schedule yet, I'm not going to worry too much. They get enough of my time in the fall and spring.

Weekend was blah. We house/animal sat for my parents this weekend while they went to my cousin's wedding (we weren't invited but also haven't seen him in upteen years). Anywho. Got home about 10 last night and wasn't a tad sleepy. Goofed off on the comp and then J found a movie that just started. It didn't end til 2 am. My alarm went off at 6 and I hit ignore.

Hoping to hit the gym this afternoon with J when I get off work then drop him off at tennis and go to the dog park with Wilson.

    1) do a full race recap, i LOVE those!

    2) i loved that book, didn't you just love it?!?!?!

    3) the blister is on the bottom of my foot, not much a can do about it.  The ones on the sides of my feet don't hurt at all,it is just this one right on the ball of my foot where it connects with my big toe.  Not much I can do about it, but it already feels better today!  How's yours?!

  • Good morning all! Congrats Brew!

My mom's boss decided not to go to the UFC fight in Philly and offered the tix to DH.  So while he abandoned me, I went out with my sisters to see Friends w/Benefits.  I've now seen my sisters more in the last week than in the past two months.

DH was supposed to take me to see Crazy Stupid Love on Sunday, at a dine-in theater, but it just didn't work out.  Boo.

In work related news, I talked to my boss on Friday about moving to another position.  Nothing in mind, I just need to get out of my mind-numbingly monotonous job that I've held for three years.  She took it fairly well.  Hopefully she will not freak out when I start aggressively pursuing leads on other shows in the company.  (I told her it was a new revelation, and I wasn't in a rush - I've been obsessing about this for months).

  • Congrats Brew!  You are an inspiration.

Weekend was fun.  Saturday we went winetasting at Darioush, Chandon and another place in Napa...I forgot the name.  DH got soooo drunk!  It was freaking hilarious but when he couldn't keep his mouth closed it got annoying.  He was talking about how I took advantage of him on our first date.  Oh, heck no...Put on the brakes Mr.!  I will admit that I had to make the first move because he was so shy, so yes, I did initiate the first kiss but I did not take advantage of him.

Sunday we just hung out and went to Sweetie Pie's where I had a strawberry croissant...oh so good.  I also saw my first episode of Mad Men...OMG, I love that freaking show.  Why did I not watch this show back when it first came out?!?!  We then went home and got through another couple of episodes of Mad Men.  I am happy to report that we are now on episode 9 of season one.

  • It does!  The good part is, now that I've told her, I can ask around about positions.  My boss even suggested it! So I will be spending this week networking.  My boss would be happier if something doesn't happen too soon, but the company has a lot going on right now, so... *fingers crossed*

  • Good Morning Ladies!

Vacation is officially over for DH and I. He is already working and I am trying to catch up on laundry now. We did lots of wine tasting, pie eating, dancing, drinking, biking, and swimming. It was fantastic. There are pictures on fb too.

This week I am working a ton and then Friday I am leaving for Milwaukee for a bridal shower and bachelorette party.

  • Woooooooo Misty! Great work!

Good morning. I could've slept for eight days this morning, but I did get myself up because I said "Self, when you have to come in between Christmas and New Year's for ONE day, you will be freaking out. GET UP." And I did.

I had a good weekend doing mostly nothing.

Friday I picked up BCP, cleaned the kitchen, then we went to Jossie Grossy Ruby Tuesday. After that we both got sneakers at Famous Footwear, MFD went to Home Depot and we both went to Target. Got home, walked the dogs, and watched The Social Network and the end of the Phils. Brawlers, shot callers.  Sleepy times around 1.

Saturay I was up at 7. WTF. I went to Sam's and Rite Aid and filled my car with gas. Got home, exercised for 45 minutes and then had coffee, washed all bedding including mattress pad. I worked on some blogging things then went to visit my grandparents. I came home with a busload of tomatoes. I also went to Target to return something and pick up the laundry detergent I forgot. Balls.

Back at home I ate dinner, got a visit from SIL, and was ensconced in Mob Week for the rest of the night: Godfather Part II, Goodfellas. MFD got home from his gig around 11. We both fell out on the couch.

Sunday I got up at 7:30. Exercised for a half hour, then started laundry. I made a nice breakfast and we watched Scarface. hahaha. We cleaned the top floor and I purged the linen closet. Then I went to Redner's, came home and started making sauce with the fresh plum tomatoes. Flipping awesome. I also made pasta salad with tomato and basil and mozzarella. I got a visit from Jenn and Kit Kat. Put away two loads of laundry, removed nail polish, packed lunch. Three friends came over for dinner: I did baked beans, corn on the cob, steamed cauliflower, sliced tomatoes, and a pasta salad with mozz, tomatoes, fresh basil, EVOO and balsamic. MFD did unbelievable ribs. It was freaking delish. Debbie and I drank wine and watched True Blood, then she left and I watched The Glades. Bed at 11:30.

  • Monday again, and my last week at my job.  I have Monday - Wednesday off next week, then starting my new position on Thursday.  Thursday is an odd day to start (I wanted to start Monday the 22nd and take a full week off, but my new job is anxious for me to begin ASAP).  Trying to close things out here as best I can before I go.  Caught between stress of finishing everything and going out with a bang and not really caring at all anymore.  Looking forward to my new job with better hours, less stress, and a shorter commute.

  • My weekend was busy and mellow. Saturday - slept in until 730am (which is really good since I'm usually up by 6a or 6:30am) and dropped DH off at work. Ran errands to get my herbs from acupuncturist, Whole Foods for red raspberry tea, Home Depot, Trader Joe's and a farm stand for corn and peaches. Picked up DH and we had to go to the parts store for his radiator...that took forever since their comptuers went down for a bit. DH and his dad worked on his car from about 7:30pm to 10pm and installed new radiator.  Yesterday, Allie Earp and I went hiking for a little over an hour but had to cut the hike short because she started panting pretty hard. Cleaned up the house a bit and vegged out again getting sucked into Millionaire Matchmaker. Let this week go by quickly, as I have a 4-day weekend starting Friday afternoon!

LOVE LOVE LOVE!  Is she a french bulldog?  That's on our must have breed list for DH and I.  So adorable and love the name :)

Thank you!  I love her so much already!  I can barely wait these last few weeks.  I have wanted a dog for sooooo long and the time is finally right to get one.

I am moving to a much better position at a company closer to home.  I do Credentialing for a hospital now, and this is a company that does Credentialing for hospitals that want to outsource it instead of maintaining their own credentialing departments.  It's cheaper to outsource and I think companies like this are the wave of the future.  It's more money, more flexible hours, commute is 20 minutes shorter, and more responsibility with room to grow within the company.  All good stuff!!!  I was starting to get in a rut where I am now.

Yes, she's a Frenchie from the breeder I've been talking to all this time.  The stars aligned and it's finally the right time to get one.  Cream and white was my first color choice =)

  • I only briefly skimmed the other posts but:

Congrats Brew, and Awwwww what a cute puppy, City!

This weekend we went to two restaurants - Saturday was just me and Jeff at a Mexican place we hadn't tried.  It was very good, and I'm sure we'll go back, but I don't think it's good for Restaurant Week since most of their food isn't that expensive.  It also seems better suited for a large group, since the apps and the chips & salsa were awesome, and they have a variety of tasty margaritas by the pitcher.  Our entrees and desserts were good, but I'd rather spend the money elsewhere for our date night, and I didn't have room for dessert.

Last night we went to one of our favorite places with 8 other people, and it was fantastic (as always).  We had to wait almost half an hour for a group of douches to leave their table - the hostess kept apologizing, saying they'd paid their check 20 minutes before we got there.  Seriously, who does that?  At a busy restaurant, I don't linger, especially if I can see there's obviously a large group waiting for my table - and the restaurant is so small that we mostly waited outside, in the 90-degree heat.  Bummer, but it was worth it because the food was AWESOME, and our friends who hadn't been there before loved it.  I love sharing my favorite places with people!  I also got to meet my friend's new roommate, and we really hit it off - turns out, she works near me, so I think we'll be hanging out a lot in the future!

Today is weird because three summer people finished up Friday, so it's dead in here.  I'm completely by myself because my boss is MIA, and my other two co-workers are elsewhere on campus.  That's the norm for all three, so I'll be alone a lot from here on out.  Time to get to work on all of the stuff I couldn't get done while the summer people were here, though!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

  • Morning ladies!

H finally made it home yesterday from his HK/Bejing trip, and I was so glad to see him.  He had lots of goodies for me and Predator, which was sweet.  Of course, I was sick pretty much all day, but what's new!  Went to a Mexican place for dinner and I didn't make it home with a full belly.  Sad  Hoping this eases up soon!

Went to my BFF's in Sonoma on Friday to spend the weekend, and Ginger started us off with a bang by peeing on friend's bed.  Luckily we were right there when it happened, and pulled the sheets off before it got on anything else, but sheesh!  So embarrassing.  I think she was just really tired and confused about where we were.

Friend's Relay for Life event was Saturday, so I hung out with her and her family on the track - after her daughter's ballet recital, of course!  It was fun, but I'm exhausted!

    image
  • Xtine - we're doing most of our BRU registry this upcoming weekend, and it is soooo daunting, I agree!  My BFF is coming to help, and her advice on things like bottles is that it's a lot of trial and error, to figure out what works for you and your kid.  No point in loading up Costco-like bulk supplies until you know what works.

Brew - you go, lady!  That's awesome.

City - your pooch is so cute, and congrats on the new job!

  • Mush - sounds like a great weekend minus the pee! My one dog always pees immediately in someone's house. So I like to get him there, let him out, then let him in the house for literally 30 seconds following him like a hawk, then back out again. Also welcome home to your husband!

I don't know dix about netflix stream, but I'd like to. Is that when you hook your computer up to the TV? Help.

I am full of glee. Last week was PMS week and I got my period on Thursday. Still have it, still bloated, etc. etc. I still lost 3.5 pounds since last Monday. Yay!

  • Morning.. er afternoon gals!

    Congrats Misty! So awesome!

    Totally love the bulldog.. supercute!

This weekend was fairly okay! Friday night, Carter and I went to the mall with my mom so I can buy new clothes that actually fit! Yay for being down 3 pant sizes! Last week when I went with DH, Carter was fussy and only wanted me.. so I accomplished nothing. At least my mom can handle his fussiness and let me shop. Of course I ended up buying more for the baby than myself.. but I guess that is life now.

Saturday I got to sleep in a bit with Carter while DH worked a few hours. Then did a little bit of cleaning in the house before we went to Iron Hill Brewery! Yum! We dropped Carter off at DH's dads for a few hours for date night!  I had broiled scallops with crab meat and asparagus.. and creme brulee. Delish! Carter was so good at his mom mom and pop pops and slept like a champ the entire weekend.

Sunday pretty much has turned into family day. Two of my brother in laws stopped by for lunch and to see the baby.  Afterwards we all went to their mom's for dinner and dessert. Always a nice break when someone else wants to love up on the baby when he fusses.

Today has been super productive already. I love the long morning nap when I can get things done! Bathrooms are cleaned, kitchen is all cleaned up, DH's "closet" (our spare bedroom) is all cleaned up and organized. He never puts clothes away and just leaves them sit all over the place. I never know what is clean! So today I cleaned everything up, hung up all of the clothes and have just two loads of laundry to finish before leaving to take Carter swimming at my mom's with my bestie and her 5 month old son. Tonight I have to get a filling replaced at the dentist. Yuck! But that should hold me for another 6 months. Score!

Oh.. and Carter is sitting next to me smiling, cooing, and "talking" away. Love it! :)

    Have a great day girls!

  • Steph - congrats on the weight loss!  It always feels so good to see results right away.

I was mortified about Ginger.  She'd been outside just a few minutes before, so she had no excuse.

We use our Blu-Ray to do Netflix streaming; that's mostly why H wanted it, although an excuse to buy all his favorite movies all over again in that format (sigh) was pretty appealing to him as well.  You can also stream from a Wii and I think some other game consoles.  We only have the Blu-Ray.  I think there's a way to hook the TV up to a computer, but it's above my technical abilities.

    image
  • Tara you sound fabulous! I'm glad things are going well.

Mush - good to know. We have no Blu-Ray or Wii. I will borrow my brother's Wii and check it out.
