It's Monday!!!! That only means one thing.....
Re: It's Monday!!!! That only means one thing.....
Angie--Sending vibes!
Leslie-DH did that kinda thing this weekend in front of my family.
My B&M is...
DH wants me to continue going to school next semester even though I'm going to be due. I told him I'd rather take the semester off but he said I'll never finish. Well at lunch yesterday my family was asking if I was going to school this semester. I said yes and I start the 29th. Then my sister asked if I was going next semester and I said yes. Well my mom flipped. "How are you going to do that with a newborn and having to give birth?" I said DH wants me to go. He FLIPPED and said not to throw him under the bus and that it was my choice to go next semester. I was so mad. We get in the car and the first thing he says is "you know you are going to school next semester, even if it's just 1 class". No discussion, no we'll see, nothing but that I am going after he just told me family it was me wanting to go. I was so mad. He said that giving birth happens all the time and the teacher should understand and let me have a little time to recover. I just think he is living in a fantasy world and think it will take me more than a week to get back in the swing of things. I've never done this so I could be wrong but I think adding school to an already busy first couple of month of the year is not going to be the best idea. I don't have any "easy" classes I can take either. Just annoyed that he got mad at me for saying it was him pushing and then we get away from my family and he tells me again that I am going.

Dana - Um, let me start by saying NOT COOL of your DH. I have a Dad and I will be damned if my DH acts like he is mine.
/end rant
To offer a solution, can you take an online course? A lot of colleges offer them.

If you say you're funny, does it make it so?
Next semester to me is Fall so ignore me if you are really talking about Spring. I've had classes with pregnant ladies and more times than not, the instructor allowed the student to work ahead and then just miss the rest of the semester. We've had a few students get an "I" and then they have a year to finish up the rest of the work. Of course, this would be up to the instructor.
I'M FUNNY
*blink, blink*
Well, I don't feel any different.

I think your daughter is funnier than you.....Just sayin'.
This and this.
Also - Jaymi - this is good to know. I wondered about how it would work if I was due late April/early May. I will inquire about this if I get into that situation.
Ugh, let me add to my previous B&M.....
Many years ago, I wrote curriculum for my five classes (Latin I-V AP). I typed it up on a computer and submitted it to one of our former coordinators. Now, my new coordinator tells me that she needs a copy of it digitally because she can't find it. Well, that was three computers ago and they were supposed to be the ones saving it for posterity since their the admin. team. Now, she's telling me that I'll have to re-write all five levels for her now. Well, no. I have to get through the start of school, the big rivalry game and homecoming before the end of September. I fail to see why her incompetence became my problem.
I'm taking online classes already. I'm hoping that I can just work ahead some but I'm not sure the professor will be ok with that. It will really depend on what class I take. On my degree plan I worked out with my academic advisor has me taking Business Law and Managerial Account. I suck at math and I only am going to take one but I think either one would kick my butt in general. I'm setting up a meeting again for a little later in the semester to talk to my advisor again and see what they think.
Like I said I'm more annoyed with the fact that DH "told" me what I was doing and then got all pissy when I said something to my family.
And yes Jamyi I'm speaking about the Spring semester. I'm due 2/20/12 so I'm fine for the Fall and ready to start in 3 weeks!
I'm not familiar with UTA and their policies and their courses and what not but we have individual (or group) study courses where you do your own thing with an instructor of your choosing. There is no set class meeting times; some instructors are very hands on and want to meet weekly to make sure you are ok while others don't really want to see you until the end of the semester with your final project.
There are options
Of course, meet with your advisor to make sure this fits in with your degree plan and all that. If you can get an appointment, that is
They may even have other suggestions that would work.
I actually have an appointment with my advisor in about an hour for something else entirely but since I will be there - and appointments are like gold - I might run it by her today and just see what she says.
I'm at A&M Commerce which is a 2 hour drive 1 way from my house so a weekly meeting would be out. I called my advisor and I'm just waiting on a return call. I'm sure they will be busy for a while with school just about to start but that is why I'm calling now. I'm ok with making an appointment for later in the semester since my questions are for the Spring semester.
Not every instructor will want to see you in person every week; they each will have their own guidelines of what they expect- I was giving two extremes of what has been my experience.
I'm sorry about the DH B&Ms. I hope they come to their senses.
I can't believe that school starts in 3 weeks. I'm not ready for the break to end.
Dana - Would you be able to front load some work? Like pick up an extra class for the fall and/or maybe a winter intersession class to stay on track?
Sorry your DH did that... not cool.
Re: Alarms. I'm terrible about this, I will hit the snooze again and again for over an hour. Whoops. But Courts sleeps like the dead, so no problems there, lol.
I don't have a lot of work today, so I'm trying to appear busy and stretch the work out for the afternoon.
This Friday I'm going to help my mom organize her classroom library, and I'm actually excited about it. I'll get to flex my alphabetizing muscles!
Speaking of muscles, my sister just joined 24hour, so I have someone to go to classes with! Which is good, because there are certain classes (like spinning) I'm scared to try by myself.
Haha, I know a couple other Facebook resisters. We got a full bin, it's supposed to be around 30 lbs. of produce, and it was pretty heavy.
ETA: I managed to get the picture from my phone to this computer.
Hey Anna-
The City of Denton Library and one of the banks here are doing a movie drive in on Friday night and they are playing "The Goonies"!
I'm so glad that we are officially moving, but I'm feeling a little overwhelmed with packing. DH has some hunting trophies I have no clue how to pack and I don't know how to protect our furniture when we move.
I really want to hire movers but don't want to spend that much $$$$.
Plastic Wrap.... giant rolls of shrink wrap. Seriously...wrap EVERYTHING in it.... the stuff is ah-mazing. A few layers and it keeps wood from getting scratched up, cloth/leather furniture from getting torn or punctured. It is about $20-25 per roll but well worth it.
You can get it at Lowe's or any place that sells boxes, usually.
Thanks! I didn't know it would work on wood too...I've been looking for a thin foamy material to protect the wooden shelves but now I may not have to!
It works great. Since your coming halfway across the country you could probably wrap blankets around wooden pieces and then cover in plastic wrap too for extra precaution.
You may want to look into the U Pack It type of movers. You are still going to have to pack and load the truck, but you only rent so many linear feet on the truck. Then they drive it to your destination where you unload. When I moved from Chicago to Houston the cost was w/in $100 of renting a uhaul, but I was not paying for gas, tolls, or driving a uhaul across the country.
