Verizon's (home service) customer service BLOWS.

After 4 reps, and explaining my billing issue 4 times, and almost cursing someone out 4 times... I'm attempting to handle my issue via chat service.

If this doesn't work, I'm emailing the VP and every higher-up I can find.  Don't.tempt.me.

At least they didn't hang up on you... (happened to me yesterday with TWC).  Apparently they can NOT, absolutely, NO WAY possible itemize my service so the internet shows as one charge and the cable as another.  I can expense my internet charge, but ONLY if it is broken out.  Stupid TWC.

Chelsea, I just looked at the blog, and wow!  I want to go back.  This weekend is out 1 yr anniversary, and we were in Maui for our honeymoon.  You are definitely making me miss it!  Also, I LOVED the dress with the white top and floral print skirt.  It looked so cute on you!

Leslie and DFW - Different issues, but I'm sorry that both of you are having trouble with UTA.  That stinks.

Brianna - I'm with you on being tired, but am going to add hot into the mix.

"I'm tired of being tired and hot!"

Thank you! That dress was actually from Wet Seal, which is crazy because I'm pretty curvy and their stuff never fits me. Mack actually picked it out for me all on his own!

And thanks Brianna & Tiffany, too! It's nice to have a little audience for the pictures we take on vacation... makes it worth the time we spend on them. :)

I just looked at your photos -- amazing!!! I actually got goosebumps at the photo of the green church.

Seeing your photos is exactly why I want to take photography classes. I want to be able to document my travels like that!!!

    Great job!

Definitely take classes if you can! We're self-taught, but for a hobbyist it can be much easier to take a crash course. My best advice is to buy an entry-level DSLR and memorize the manual. Obviously, gear makes a huge difference, or it wouldn't be worth the investment we've made in it. But the truth is that for just taking photos of your life, the best thing you can possibly do is learn to get the most out of whatever camera you're using. It takes practice, but can make all the difference in the quality of your personal pictures!!

I told my mom I wanted one of these for when we have the baby.  DH was horrible at taking baby pictures of SD because his camera never worked and I don't want the same thing to happen again.  Plus we are starting to take more family vacations and I know both kids will enjoy looking back at the pictures so I want them to be good.  What cameras do you recommend?  My sister has one but I'm not sure we want to spend what she spent on her's yet.  Maybe we can upgrade to that later.

  • Deepthi,

Sorry you're frustrated with the process. Unfortunately when it comes to nursing programs, most of them require about the same classes and they don't really let you substitue classes. You have to take those particular classes before you can apply. I'm afraid it'll be the same way at TWU, because I'm applying to both programs and their requirements are very similar with the exception of one class I believe, which is nutrition. TWU requires it and UTA doesn't.

That's why it is essentially taking me a year and a 1/2 to take these pre-reqs before I can even apply, even though I already have a degree because, they want such specific classes.

If it's something you really want, a few years will pay off.

  • I just got my first bill... tell me what you would think you're being charged if this was on your order summary, because maybe I'm off base.  Would you guess $63.98?

    H5051 3200 VBUNDLE I Multi-Room DVR 4 HD STB 1 $ 43.99
    G9659 3200 VINSTALL I Additional Existing Outlet 3 $ 19.99

  • I am also having issues with customer service, but for a little medi clinic I went to a few months ago for a strep throat test. I just got the bill, and not only was my insurance not billed (even though I had a new card and know they wrote that information down) but I'm billed for a procedure I didn't have. (I do remember another patient coming in at the same time for foot X-rays, which is what is on my bill -- so I think they mixed us up completely).

I've been calling almost every day for a week. It just rings and rings, no answering machine (and this is during their supposed office hours). Once, someone answered, but she said she was just an answering service (again, during their office hours) and would have the right person call me back. But that was a week ago, and no call back. I'm seriously irritated!

I thought it was bad enough that I was chastized at my appointment for writing down my husband's nickname (e.g., Bill) instead of his legal name (e.g., William) when filling out my emergency contacts. Seriously?

I know you were asking Chelsea, and I'm sure she'll chime in, but my DH recommends the Canon Rebel for this kind of situation. It was his first SLR. He says that Canon is easier to learn than Nikon, but I'm sure there are plenty of Nikon people out there who would say the opposite. I have this one (link) and I like it because it's a step up from the normal point and shoot, but I don't have to mess with lenses.

Well, apparently the 3 $19.99 means 3 charges of $19.99.  The way I read it should be 3 outlets at $19.99 total.  How convenient that I get my first bill and everything changed.  I am annoyed!

YES! Canon all the way. The Digital Rebel is a great little camera... we actually shot a few weddings on it when we were just starting out. You'll be able to change and add lenses if you want, but the kit lens it comes with is absolutely capable of upping the quality of your at-home pictures. It's an investment, but not too bad. I believe the T3 is the last one I've actually held, a relatively recent model, and it's a solid little camera.

The best thing about a digital rebel is that even if you only shoot on auto, the pictures will be miles better than what you're taking with a point&shoot. Once you learn how to really manipulate the settings, you'll be amazed at what you're able to do!

Just promise me you won't buy a digital rebel and a copy of Photoshop Elements, start turning people purple, and charging $50 for a session, k? :)

We got the Rebel T2i right before the wedding and I love it.  I need to read more or take a class to really get the most out of it, but it was perfect for wedding events, our honeymoon and probably future kids.

  • Does the battle with changing your last name ever go away?  I've been *new last name* for a year and a half-ish.  It took me a year to get a doctor's office to change it (now I just have to work on them actually changing my address, which for some reason they don't want to) and now, I'm dealing with it at work.  I don't know how else to explain "Hey my last name has changed to XYZ"  Telling me that the problem is that people go run off and get married and change their last name and don't tell you is ridonk is because I have told you, more than once, but you blow me off.  Usually I just go with it but it's made something that should take 30 minutes about 3 hours.

I will still have to pay $250, but that's a far cry from $700. It's still BS but at this point what is $250 when I am already writing them a check for thousands?

I will still have to pay $250, but that's a far cry from $700. It's still BS but at this point what is $250 when I am already writing them a check for thousands?

Yes, but having to pay $250 for something you didn't do is absurd.  Shouldn't they have to have the actual ID card in hand to check out books to someone?   Shouldn't their people be checking photos?

There is a lot of BS here... for sure.   Does your student ID have fraud protection? lol .... Seriously though, will they at least change your # so it can't happen again???

Send ju-ju girls - UTA agreed to knock off $150. I am now waiting for a phone call from a supervisor about knocking off an additional $300.

Yes, there should. We require a photo ID, even if it's a driver's license. The media library won't even do that, you have to have your student ID. I've had people come in and say "oh, my friend asked me to come check this out for him, he gave me his card." And we don't allow that. But there are always those student assistants who will disregard the rules.

I agree with this! You should be paying them anything! What's going to happen the next time this person decides to use your card?

  • Well, I just looked into transferring my credits and possibly going for a teaching degree/certificate.  When I looked at how much tuition is now-a-days at regular Universities... my dream died.
